I am on a fill and some days I can eat a lot less...like 1/2 up an some days I can eat a lot more. TOday for breakfast-I ate an order of eggs from McDonalds and a piece of sausage. Today for Lunch- I had about a cup of turkey spaghetti with no noodles--just the sauce and the turkey. I had restriction right after surgery then no restriction about a month and a half out. Had a fill (1.4 ccs) about 2 weeks ago. My restriction is fairly up and down now. I think I am going to get another fill very soon. Good luck!

Thanks for all of the thoughts. I SERIOUSLY do not know where I would be without LBT. Good to hear that it may loosen up a little. It is not awful. I can get food down. Actually, my throat does not hurt today either. It is not causing pain at all today. It just feels like a little lump but, then again, it is early in the morning so maybe in a couple of days it will be perfect. Parvathi, can you tell me a little more about how your fill does for the first week when it is a little too tight? The doctor did have me stay over night and everything was fine. I had no problems drinking but did feel a little sensitive. Then my throat bothered me for a couple of days. Now my throat does not bother me, just the lump which may be better(?). I know my dr in Mexico would do the unfill. I just don't want to have to go all the way back to him. I did find a local dr to do my fills but I am just concerned about the local doctor not doing an unfill when he has never seen me before. (even though he said he would do a fill). All of you that have posted, thank you so very much.

I really need to just let out some steam so forgive me...(I really can be whinny when come to LBT!) I am bummed. I know the lapband is the right answer for me. There is so much that I love about it but I just can't let go of the fear of not being healthy. I was nervous when I first had surgery done thinking I was going to be the one with the problem but I wasn't; YIPPEE; however, now I am having problems. I was having reflux/gastritis / esophagistis/"whatever you want to call it today". I started taking prevacid which seemed to help. So I just went and got my first fill because I could eat a ton! The dr went light on the fill. And now my throat has been hurting. It is making me crazy. I called the dr because...that is what you are supposed to do, right? He said to go on liquids for a couple of days. I just got off liquids yesterday from the fill. My throat hurt while I was on liquids. I DON'T want to have problems. I really want these crappy side effects to go AWAY so I can concentrate on the band and weight loss instead of worrying about esophagus cancer and having a sore throat for the rest of my life. <O:p</O:p My throat just feels inflamed. I quit eating 2 hours before bed and drinking 2 hour before bed. I am still taking my prevacid. I am hoping and praying that a couple of more days and everything will settle down. <O:p</O:p Any pearls of wisdom? Anyone else had a really inflamed sore throat that went away after liquids for a few days? <O:p</O:p

Well...unfortunetly, I think I am just too tight which is SUCH a bummer. I have done liquids, slept a TON, rested, drank Water, popsicles, etc. I am hoping to find someone close who will do an unfill. (I did my surgery and first fill in Mexico.) I found several doctors around me who will do a fill but never thought to ask if they would do unfills. I wanted to at least go back to my original doctor for the first fill because he has such a good reputation for fills plus I knew he used fluro and I just thought it would be good since he was the original doctor. So...CRAP!!! ANyone ever heard of someone getting "loose" after being too tight at first. I don't know whether to wait a few days or to begin to hunt for a fill first thing in the am. PLEASE pray I can find someone close for the unfill.

Another pre-band newbie-mind reeling from thoughts/questions

I had a BMI of 33/34 and I feel the *weight* of the world on my shoulders at that weight. I TOTALLY know how you feel. I knew it was the anwser I was looking for...I have been battling my wieght since I was VERY young. DO what is right for you! There are a lot of people on this website with low bmi-s thatmay have even lower self esteem and a greater need for the surgery than someone at 300 lbs. Good luck! -
LOVE IT!! Let's see those before and after pics next to your new jag!

Thanks everyone. The fill was 1.4. He wanted to do 1.6. I think my throat/stomach may have been a little sore going in to the fill because of the reflux issues. I went to bed REALLY early last night and I am going to try and sleep a lot today. I am thinking the less I am using my troat the better. I am also going to try and switch my prevacid to the end of the day and see if that helps for the night time reflux. Along with Clear Liquids. For the next two days I am just going to be SUPER careful and stay off my throat and see how things progress. Keep yor fingers crossed. I also now look back at the last few days and think maybe I pushed it a little too much. That desire for food can be overwhelming. So I am going to remember to take everything REALLY slow. I will likely do clear liquids until sunday and then easy into mushies for about 3 days then maybe tackle real food slowly. Any suggestions would be great! Also, does anyone know if nexium is better than prevacid? ANd if they think me walking some would irritate it more or help?

We always read to stick to the "lap band rules." I am at the bginning of my first fill and really wanting to be a good bander. So what are your basics? I suspect it is different for everyone but I would like to know.

ALL THE TIME!!! I LOVE it!!! I am still struggling a little with the "what have I dones" so I love the feeling I get when I see commercials like that...the weird thing for me is that what will my life revolve around now??? Having been over weight almost all of my life it is an adjustment to realize that I no longer am going to have to obsessive or look for the next thing that is going to "save" me. Means I have to deal with some core issues that may not be fun but at least I will be doing it thin! GREAT question! -
Wanted to bump this up and ask about it...since you are all still on the site... How did it go? Did it go away? My reflux is finally a better but I have the pop rocks "crackle" feeling and a sore throat. I started taking prevacid about 2 weeks ago which has seemed to help the overall reflux/gasritis type issues. I have not been ultra careful in not eating or drinking late but I am starting to try to be more aware. Last night I quit early and my throat did not hurt this am but by the end of the day it started to bother me again. Can't wait to hear how it is working for all of you. Lindsay

Why would a slurpee cause that type of pain????

205. One more pound down and with no restriction. Not bad, but wait until I get a fill!!

Michelle, I think you are right!!! WOW! You are good. I just read the symptoms of gastritis. Here is a great link on gastritis: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/articles/10487-6.asp I do have a question. It says there are several different meds. It includes zantac in one category and prevacid/priolsec in another category. Would it be ok to take both? I have been taking priolsec daily. I am going to call my doc and try to get some prevacid. I am also going to call my lapband doc. THANKS SO MUCH for all the great info! Here is the part about the meds: Medications| Histamine (H2) blockers: Four histamine blockers are available in the United States. Some are available without a prescription; others require a prescription. All work by blocking the release of acid from specialized glands in your stomach. The idea is that producing less acid allows your stomach to heal. Once healed, the previously inflamed stomach then causes no further symptoms. Commonly prescribed H2-blockers include cimetidine (Tagamet), famotidine (Pepcid), nizatidine (Axid), and ranitidine (Zantac). Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs): These medications are very powerful blockers of the stomach's ability to secrete acid. A health care provider who prescribes one of these medications to treat your gastritis may be doing so in consultation with a gastroenterologist. These medications include lansoprazole (Prevacid) and omeprazole (Prilosec, Losec). Coating agents: These medications protect the stomach's lining. Sucralfate (Carafate) – Coats and protects the stomach lining Misoprostol (Cytotec) – Also protects the stomach lining, used as a preventive measure for people taking NSAIDs who are at high risk for developing stomach damage

I hate reflux!! Reflux is a new experinence for me. I mean since getting the band. I don't get it when I sleep. Just during the day certain things will trigger it. I started excercising and I get it BAD when I excercise. Anyone have a good tip for getting rid of excercise reflux? I take a prilosec everyday. Also, have people found that the prescriptions for relflux work better than prilosec? Thanks! Lindsay

I don't have a fill so there is nothing to take out. It is not the heartburn symptoms it is the fact that stuff comes back up and there is burning. Very rarely it is acidy. It girgles in my throat. I cannot keep down Water beacuse it comes back up. If it is a serious case I get a sore throat afterwards. When I excercised today it was really bad. And I feel like I have to burp but I can't...and it just sits there and burns.

Love Big Brother. I watch it every season and have seen all the episodes this season thus far. Thank you tivo. I really do not like the HOH/veto winner from last week. She seems a little too hot to trot for her own good.

You guys are all doing so great!!! I have lost 15.5 pounds but I am stalled. I was banded June 7 and I am DYING for a fill. I feel completely "normal". Like I did before the surgery. I can eat whatever I want. So BEWARE. But I am going to challenge myself for the next two weeks. I would REALLY like to lose 5 pounds before my fill. My fill is AUgust 1. YEEHAW! I cannot wait. I need it so bad. The other good news is that I must be completely healed. GOOD LUCK guys. We can all do it!!! Lindsay

WOW!! 6 weeks. You are doing amazing for being on liquis for six weeks. I was reqdy to chew my arm off after three weeks.
-
Recovery time--every one varies. For me three days was all I needed. I had mine done on a Tuesday and by the weekend I was mall walking and taking my puppies out. It really varies though I have not heard of anyone who needed over two weeks.

I went through a small very mild, yet no fun, depresion after the surgery because I was not dropping pounds like I thought I should be. I mean for God's sake. I had liquids for three weeks...shouldn't I be a size 0 by now? It is tough even if you read and read the board and think you are prepared for that time. What I had to do was (after reading and reading and reading LBT) kick myself and say... #1 Look at the fact that you have lost 10-15 pounds. That is great and during any normal month you would be jumping for joy. #2 Everyone says...this is just bonus time. As hard as it has been to hear, every time people tell me stuff on LBT they are ususally right. If this is bonus after the sweet spot I am going to be flying high! #3 I am going to have to be gentle with myself while I try not to gain during this time. My goal is to not gain anymore. Ok...and I have the small goal of losing 3 more pounds before my first fill (2 and 1/2 weeks away). But I think that is much more reasonable than I was being with myself. !0 pounds a week...that is reasonable and rationale, right? #4 THis is a journey. Each day, even with small bumps, in the road I feel more able and capable to achieve sanity. Isn't that what we are all after? If I felt great and confident at 220 I would not have needed surgery. It really all is about my sanity. SO here I am...I read LBT everyday. I am makign small strides in my physical weight loss but I am gaining leaps and bounds in sanity. Thanks for letting me do therapy. I love this place.
