The Dr. is great. In fact, last time I was there he spoke about opening a clinic with Dr. Ortiz and Martinez. Isn't that crazy? La Madam, I am doing great today. I wish I had a little more restriction since my last fill (THurs) but this may be the one. I feel good! Really good. Thanks so much for asking. I hope you are doing well also.

I had a realy bad bloody PB. I hear all the time here better to be safe than sorry so I went to the ER, over $1000 later, I am fine. They just told me to do liquids for 5 days. I am fine now. No problems. But it was SUPER scary.

Megan, I LOVE your posts. You are close to my age and I can totally relate to everything you say. THANKS FOR BEING YOU! Lindsay

p.s. My slow sad story...I keep joining these "challenges" people have here on LBT but I can never even lose a damn pound to report back. I end up being such a sad and lonely turtle while all those d*mn rabbits report back rapid weight loss.

I want to be in...PLLLLEASE. I was banded on June 7th and I have lost 20.5 pounds. I am BARELY over 1 pound a week. Pretty please. I have had 3 fills. First one was 1.4, Second one was 1.6 and now I am at 2.0 and I still don't think it is enough.

My dr says 48 hours clear liquids.

My first fill was by Dr. Matinez and it was 1.4 (I was such a baby. I was SO scared of being too tight that he only put a small amount in me.) Worked for a little while and then nothing... Second fill was by Dr. Garwood and it put me to 1.6. Nothing... I just had another fill two days ago. I am now at 2.0. We shall see...

I drink a little less than I did before banded but I also throw in a *crazy* night every once in awhile. My band doesn't mind it but my head does... Good luck!

I have seen a couple of people who had slow weight loss but it has been significant…like MuffinB. Any others who did not lose a lot of weight in the beginning but ended up having significant weight loss? I am about to get my third fill. Thank goodness because I have no restriction. I am just wanting a pep during this long journey. I had surgery in June and have only lost about 18 pounds. I know it is a marathon…not a sprint. Any good stories about slow loss that finally kicked in?

Banded June 7. I have lost 22.5 pounds. I am oh so close to onederland. YIPPEE!! This is not near as much as I would have liked but given the last few months I am not going to complain. I have also had a heck of an emotional time lately dealing with some family problems. I am SO lucky I have not gained anything. In that my band has been a Godsend. I have had several problems though. I had acid reflux for the first couple of months and it scared me more than anything but "Acid has finally left the building." I also had a hell of a PB. I ended up throwing up blood int he emergency room; however, it seems to have just been a freak accident and everything is fine now. I have had two fills and am up to 1.6. I am considering getting another fill. I also have decided to give up fast food. I think it has been bringing me down--energy wise and frankly it is just SO bad for you. So that is my new resolution. So glad you asked. I love to touch base with other Junesters.

Well...my band and I are not on speaking terms right now. I was so excited because it is football season and today was the first game of the season for UT. I have season tickets and LOVE to go to thegame and tailgate, etc. I got to my first tailgating party and they had fajitas. I thought--super. I'll eat the meat--no tortilla. A little bit of guac. I had a couple of bites and OH MY GOODNESS. I knew something was wrong so I started to walk and walk, several times stopping to slime. Mind you we are outside in the HOT Texas sun. I ask soemone if I can please go in their rv. I go in there and throw up...not just the meat but a great deal of blood. I finally had to leave the bathroom because I knew I had to get to the hospital. Throwing up blood just sounded way to scary to ignore. I kept throwing up blood. It was actually 3/4 blood and 1/4 saliva. It was awful. I called Dr. Martinez on the way--thank goodness for him and his cell phone. I got to the hospital and they were packed because of all of the Hurricane victims. But because of my cup of blood they moved me to the front of the line. I was sitting in the ER throwing up and giving them my info when that DAMN piece of meat came up and more blood--FINALLY. I quit throwing up and felt somewhat normal but what an ordeal. It was really scary. Turns out I busted some blood vessels in my throat when I pb'ed. Not too big of a deal but I have to go on liquids for a week. Moral of the story-CHEW CHEW CHEW...and try your darnest never to pb. Thanks for letting me tell my story. HOOK EM HORNS.

I am in too. Thanks for starting this...I really did not do the summer challenge like I wanted to...so here is my second chance. I am 202 this am. I would like to lose 12 pounds in 10 weeks. That would be 190.
-
I am the bleeder. NEVER AGAIN. PLEASE GOD NEVER AGAIN. I bursted blood vessels in my throat when I began pb'ing/throwing up. As I understand this can be normal when throwing up. Never happened to me before the band. I KNEW EVER want to PB again. It is AWFUL!!! I am happy to report that I am doing very well. I feel as though I just got a fill--tender but fine on liquids. I was feeling a little depressed. It was scary and that mixed with the what have I done to myself and the back-on-liquids-right-when-I-was-getting-my-groove-on really put me in a funk. But I am hoping to get back in my groove today.

Thanks everyone. It was scary but really turned out fine. I do feel a little drained from the whole experience this morning. <O:p</O:p The meat was steak fajita meat. You know the kind...very seasoned and looks really juicy. I just was not thinking. I was caught up in the moment. I knew not to eat the tortilla but just didn't think about the meat long enough. When "the piece" finally came up it was big...and I knew I had made a big mistake. <O:p I do feel a little bummed this am. Everything was really going well...which I guess is what caused the pb, overconfidence and not paying attention. Back to basics. <O:p Dr. Martinez was VERY helpful, much more so than the doctor there in the hospital. HE had no idea what was going on or what to do with me. I honestly could have skipped the ER (I know that now...but better to be safe than sorry), as the only thing they did was take my blood pressure and call dr. Martinez. He was great. He spoke to me ont he way to the hospital and pretty much diagnosed me in the car. Then he spoke to the dr. And then he spoke to me after I got out of the hospital. Told me what to do...liquids and be very careful because I may need an unfill.

I am not a big loser compared to you guys but I KNOW I am going to succeed. I am down 16.5 pounds since June 7. I have had two fills. The last one was last Wednesday. I started working out and plan to start dropping soon! I must NOT have frozen yogurt, ice cream or chocolate. Had a mini binge recently but compared to what my binges used to be--it was a mini. WE CAN DO IT!

Did anyone experience Reflux after banding?
lins12 replied to "with the band"'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have struggled and struggled and struggled with reflux since be banded but I am HAPPY (actually *TOTALLY THRILLED*) to report that it is just SOOOO much better. I just got a fill last week and I am doing better than ever. The last two weeks have been remarkably improved. The things that have really helped are: 4 oz aloe vera juice in the am and pm with priolsec. It says one every day but you can actually do two. This is the oTC prilosec. I tried prevacid and prilosec worked better for me. When I went to go see my fill doctor he gave me some nexium so I began taking it instead of the prilosec just to try it out. Both have given me a ton of relief. ALSO<MUY IMPORTANTE> do not eat right before bed. GOOD LUCK. I was so scared. I -
NEVERMIND> Just read previous post. GOOD LUCK!

Alex, Was the reflux why you got the unfill?
-
Has anyone elevated their bed for reflux? What did you use to elevate it? How much elevation? And finally, did it work? Thanks.
-
I am still having some reflux. It is fairly minor now compared to a couple of weeks ago. I did talk to Ortiz and Martinez. It does not bother me as much anymore I just thought the elevation thing might help a little too.

Someone explain the logistics, PLEASE!
lins12 replied to lovebugg1026's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just pasted a few days ago saying I was having this problem. I set a fill appointment and decided to enjoy a week of eating prior to my fill. GUESS WHAT--> Down 3 pounds since then...too weird. -
Someone explain the logistics, PLEASE!
lins12 replied to lovebugg1026's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am having the same issue! I feel in good company. I am eating so much less and no snacking and I have not dropped a pound. It is so weird. I just had a fill aabout three weeks ago and I am scheduled for another one on Wednesday. I am having second thoughts about going to get the fill because of soemthing Alex said the other day about letting your mind catch up with your band. I notice I want to eat so much more than I really should/can. Right now I am able to eat more than I should but much less than I used to be able to so I don't know whether I need to let my mind catch up and be patient or go ahead and get another fill. I have an appointment...so I asked God this morning to bless it or block it so I know whether I should go get the fill next week. -
Sally, how is it going since the fill? I got a fill on August 1st but I have no restiction. I have an appointment for the 24th and I am wondering if that is too soon since my last fill. Anyone know if this is an ok timeline?

Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
lins12 replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have had it bad since surgery and I did not haev it before surgery. I take prilosec twice a day with aloe vera juice and seems to have REALLY calmed down.
