A friend of mine that was banded a few months ago has started taking diet pill sto help with her cravings/hunger. Are diet pills ok to take? hey guys! I am trying to come up with some good fundraising ideas for my animal rescue group. I am currently needing to raise money for a Persian that has a cyst right by its eye and needs a dental as well as basic medical. He is huge and so handsome!!! I am also trying to help out this little OLD chihuahua that was dropped off at the shelter(our shelter is a very high kill shelter) She is so sweet and doesnt deserve to die alone at the shelter. Anyway,,, So, I was thinking about raffling off either a digital camera or a gift card to wal mart... Which do yall think would do better? We are going to raffle off a gift card from wal mart for $100.00 I am going to ask our local wal mart to donate the gift card, if they wont, then I am going to try & find someone to sponsor it for us..last resort, I will buy it! I am 33 and live in east Tx. I was banded in Oct of 07. I have lost 47#, and will go next week for my firt fill. I have 84# more to go!!!! Hope to keep in touch with you all

I went to Dr Aceves in Mexicali Mexico and everyone there was AWSOME! and the hospital was GREAT!!!!

hello everyone. I live in East Tx. I was banded on Oct 1 07 by Dr. Aveves in Mexicali Mexico. I was self pay- and the staff, hospital and everyone there is AWSOME!!!!!!!!! I am happy to say that I reached my first mini-goal 3 days early(was set at Jan 1st) I have lost 47# since surgery!

Happy New Year!!! I have a few resolutions that I plan to 110% stand by this yr! * I plan to reach goal by this time next yr.!!! * I plan to do more fundraisers and getting more donations for my animal rescue group so that we can help more animals make it out of shelters..80% of the animals that go to shelters die there....I want to change that! * Focus on myself more, the more I lose the better I want to make myelf look!

I was banded oct 1 07. I reached my first mini goal today! I was so excited. I have lost a total of 47# since surgery. I have along way to go! But it felt damn good to make that goal!!!!

Animal Rescue I do animal rescue. I have been in rescue for about 7 yrs. The group I work with is great. We take dogs/cats from hig-kill shelters and some owner surrenders that would other wise be put to sleep. We have them completley vetted- Spayed/neutered, vaccinated etc, and they stay in our homes until they are adopted out the their forever home. I have seen some VERY terrible things in this line of "hobby" It is pretty much a ful time job with no pay...however no monetary amount could out weigh the joy of knowing that the pets we save are now in loving forever homes and not left alone to die in a shelter or worse. We are a small group so we cant pf course save them all and we are non profit so work on donation alone.. I have to admit that its a very expensive hobby....alot of our personal money goes into helping these babies and feeding them..but its worth it.

I am fairly new..I was just banded on Oct 1, 07, So I have a long way to go.. but...I have Hip bones!!!! Yep- I know!!!! I was laying down last night and I could actually feel my hip bones! I mean, dont get me wrong- There is still fat there too- that needs to go away! but they are actually there!!!! I thought that was pretty cool!

I have panic attacks also, but have had them for awhile- way before surgery. They are better now than in the past- I also have suffered from migraines since I was 15 yrs old. I have really bad ones too!!! They are brought on mostly from stress.. I havent had as many in the last 2 months. I am hoping that me losing weight will help. I have to admit though that when AI was in Mexico(I went alone) what a mistake! Not that the staff wasnt AWSOME! I was just a big baby!!!! Anyway, I had a major Panic attack when I got there- i was FREAKING OUT!!!!! Thank goodness Dr. Aceves and his staff were so wonderful to me even though they were probably thinking I was a crazy person!

I havent heard of him, I use Dr. Querry in Mt Pleasant. AWSOME lady!

Xmas is tough around here because of cousre as with most money is tight!! We buy only for the small kids, and not alot! Then for anyone that asks me what I want/need...I tell them.. I need you to make a donation to the Non- Profit Animal Rescue Group that I volunteer for.(Partnership For Pets) so that fewer animals have to die in shelters alone, because with their donations we are able to foster and get them the medical attention they need!!! We as a family do the same. We "sponsor" a pet that needs a foster home and medical done... Its a great feeling knowing those dogs/cats will not have to spend another holiday alone..just from a little bit here and there!! Anyway, its makes my holidays better!!!

I was banded on Oct 1...I have only lost about 36# total. I have not had a fill yet due to my mom being very ill and me not being able to get to my Dr. I hope to start doing better!!!

Hey! I live in Longview Tx. So I am not all that far from you! I was self pay- So I chose to go to Mexicali and have Dr Aceves do my surgery! It was AWSOME!!!! I was so impressed by the entire staff and the way they treat everyone! I had surgery on Oct 1st and I am doing pretty well. As of last Sat(I weight every Sat.) I have lost 29# I havent gone yet for my first fill, but I will once I stop losing weight on a regular basis. I am fitting in jeans that I havent been able to wear in over a yr and it feels great!!! That is so awsome that you are foster parents! My husband and I have tried to have children for 8 yrs..no luck.. I would love to foster!!! And I just would like to tell someone..well all of you that know what i am going though with the band! My birthday was on Nov 9th, So, I decided to try on some jeans that I havent worn in over a yr.I had already made up my mind that they probably wouldnt fit and i would be ok with that! BUT..THEY DID!!!! and they were actually kinda lose!!! I then tried on 3 more pr one size smaller last week and they too fit-still a bit tight- but at least they actually went over my big butt and buttoned!!! I was banded on Oct 1st and really didnt think I was losing that well. Last sat i weighed and I have lost 29# since surgery-and 36# total..! I am really hoping to lose 20# more by Jan1st. I dont know if that willbe possible..but hey-- I am gonna try & see what happens!!!! Also, a friend who doesnt know that I had the surgery done saw me last weekend for the first time since right before surgery and he told me that i was really looking nice and I had trimmed down! I agree with you on the point of people having kids just to get more money- And even though I know that its not the "right" way to feel, it does really piss me off that crack addicts and people that do not take care of their kids like they should can pop them out like its candy, yet, we would love more than life to just have one baby...and cant...it sucks!!! It has really taken its toll on me in the past and has caused a major time of depression at once. I have tried to look at it as all things happen for a reason and not that I am being punished. It just gets to me when you hear of people that dont care for their kids, on drugs etc...just keep on having them...they just dont realize what a special gift a child is,and you shouldnt take it for granted, and depend on others to take care of them..have the children that you want and can provide for... well, now that i have jumped off my soap box..Ill go for now!

I respect anyone that has a child( or not ) and feels they do not want anymore. In my case, I would love more than anything TO have children.... My husband and I have been together for alomost 12 yrs and well, I guess it just wanst meant to be. We have considered adoption, however, they make it so expensive and you would think that with as many children in need, it would be that hard.... I have also even considered begging friends that have kids, that can have children to help us out....but life is what you get sevred and I just guess we werent meant to have kids. It is heartbreaking at times as my husband adores children and I know he wants kids so badly... anyway, You that can have children, consider your self blessed. :think

ok, so I never reply to many threads, I am very new at being banded(oct 1st) so I dont feel i have much to add to the experienced folks here... but, I can sure puyt my 2 cents worth in on this one! I am VERY happy to say that I chose to go to Mexico and was banded by Dr. Aceves and the staff there are remarkable. I had no problems understanding anyone there, they knew what I needed and what I was asking for at all times. I have had several health problems in the past and have spent some time in and out of hospitals in my area. Not to say that there are not some great US hospitals and wonderful US doctors, However, I have never been spoiled in the manner as I was when i was banded. I actually felt "cared for" and not just another "problem" they had to deal with until shift change. Of course I was self pay- BUT was told bu my husband who paid for my surgery that i could find a dr wherever I felt comfortable at, and he would come up with money, I called several places and never got the responce, and answers to all my questions like I did when I spoke to Nina. I live in a small east tx town and due to my mothers illness wont be able to go back to get my first fill there, and I have found dr.s in this area that will do my fill and a few I called were down right Asses to me. but i have found on very close that is very nice and I think I will like. But Not because I Dont want to go back to mexico, just because I cant right now. but I plan to go back and I hope that anyone that reads this thread will do what they feel is good for them....Mexico was great for me and the very well english spoken staff was wonderful to me.. Sorry to anyone that wasnt as lucky as me.... well, that is all I have to say about that! LOL :whoo:

I was just wondering if there is a certain amount of calories a person losing for every mile they walk, or does it vary from person to person?
