Cottage cheese or cooked fish. Your stomach doesn't know what time it is.

I am looking to connect with BP members in the 55+ age group. We have a subforum in the "Social Support" section. Take a look.

I love hummus, homemade or store bought. Where I work we once had a blind taste test of all the brands (just for fun) and my homemade came in second! But I think it's funny that a thread about hummus has 29 posts. Really, what is there to say? LOL.

Prescription water pills for hypertension & water retention......

I have been taking Maxzide for HTN and edema for more than 10 years. Nobody said a word to me about stopping it. What does your pcp say? I am hoping that with a bit more weight loss I can stop the bloody things. They are a bit dehydrating. But my feet and legs would be swollen up like sausages without them. -
I met with my dietician last night and was given the go ahead to start eating salad! This is what I've been craving for 8 weeks. Now I'm a little apprehensive about trying it. But as soon as I can get to the store, I will.

I'm here! I hope we get some interest! So, ItsAllGood, you are pre-op? I'm glad for some reason to see another short person. Have you been as frustrated as I have been with the long sleeves on larger-sized clothing? I'm hoping that once I get into regular Misses sizes, the sleeve lengths won't be down to my knees anymore. I've always said that just because I'm fat it doesn't mean I have arms like a gorilla. -
I tried to all you all as friends, but it only let me add cowpiez. Not sure what's going on with that. I will try again when I get home from work. Maybe it's the universe telling me to get back to work!

I have always hated exercise, since a small child. Nevertheless, there have been many times over the years that I got myself in a workout routine because I thought I should or because someone else thought I should. I never ever lost weight despite significant efforts, like riding my bike five days/week for at least ten miles. What's different this time, for me, is that I feel like there's actually hope. I can lose the weight. And if I can be a healthy weight, I can move! I can be an active participant in life instead of sitting on the sidelines in the shade.

I don't know what to say about the depression that could help, except that I am sorry you're struggling. As far as the weight loss, I had my surgery in June also, and you have lost a lot more than I have, so it's not that slow.

If you're using the app instead of the desktop site, it's under Gastric Sleeve Support Groups, Social Support groups, all the way at the end. -
Boca burgers really make a difference.

Hard boiled egg, 7; can of tuna, 17, cottage cheese, 14, boca burger, 16, 2 slices of ham, 14. You're over 65.

I started with the turkey neck when I hit age 50, without weight loss. I looked in the mirror and saw my mother! It's genetic for me. Now I look like Fat Bastard after he lost weight, if you remember that scene (I have a vagina on my neck! LOL.) I don't know why, but I seem to be able to deal with it. It's the other excess skin that I'm expecting that I'm worried about. I'm 59 and trying to lose about 100 lb total.

Is it me, or is it them?
fezik23 replied to SandeeD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I understand what you're saying. And I think for me, even though I'm only two months out, it's both. I've changed, and people have their own "stuff" in how they react to me. I have only lost 30 lb, but I feel differently about myself, and that comes across, I'm sure. I'm more outspoken and not such a people pleaser as I used to be. Plus, there are those people who "don't believe in" wls (as if it were a fairy or ghost or something). So they react differently because of their own baggage. -
Some how along the path I messed something up!

No more wallowing in what you did wrong. As someone said in Anne of Green Gables, "Today is a new day with no mistakes in it." OR as they say in AA, if you have one foot in yesterday and one foot in tomorrow, you p1ss on today. -

We can start a Support Group on this website, under the Community tab. I will set it up and just call it "Over 55". Ok? -

We can start our own support group, either here on the site or a Facebook group. If it were a fb group, it can be closed, so others can't see it. If there is interest, I will set something up. Thought? -
Good luck.

just a little help...

I actually use one of those pill minders, for one thing. I take my multi vitamin right before bed, so no problems interfering with others. I do sometimes forget calcium, a dose here and there. I keep one bottle on my desk at work, and one in the kitchen. -
I am fortunate that my bedroom is a full flight of stairs away from the kitchen..mostly I stay in my room. I also "listen" to my sleeve. I ask it what it's trying to tell me. My sleeve is wiser than my head.
