I have a desk job. I was off for a totL of 8 work days and I was fine, except for being very tired at the end of the day. I would have been very bored if I'd stayed home any longer.

When did you go back 2 work!?
fezik23 replied to sfp9437's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I took off a total of 8 work days -
I'm over 5 weeks post op. I was eating some Light & Fit vanilla Greek yogurt, when I had one of those forehead slapper moments. If I can only eat a cup or two of food per day, I am not going to waste it on anything I don't enjoy. Ever again. The yogurt went into the trash. So will most of the Protein powders and shakes taking up room in my kitchen. No more EGG BEATERS, nasty stuff. I want to savor my food and not just get my protein grams. I've spent much of my life eating things because they were supposed to be better for me. No more. So...now what? I'm gonna have to put some thought into this. I go grocery shopping on Saturdays. We shall see.

Stupid Question - does protein mean pure protein?
fezik23 replied to imadethelist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Obviously the "rules" vary from program to program..I have been permitted grains since puréed foods. I have opted not to eat them, but if could. I do use other sources of binders, but I have been low carb for about two years. -

You can also add twice the amount of powder and blend with soy milk or ff milk. -
I made ramen without the noodles. Sometimes I added tofu that I whirred in the blender. I thought the unjury was a waste.

How could you POSSIBLY be exercising right now?
fezik23 replied to ChavaBling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd like to hear some responses to this question as well. -
I detoxed myself from coffee pre op too. I didn't want to deal with withdrawal from caffeine after surgery. But to answer your question, my doc was ok with coffee pre op.

The psych should be evaluating to make sure you understand the risks and benefits, have an adequate support system, are willing to so whTever is required to be successful and that sort of thing. He/she should also be checking to make sure you're not psychotic or manic or suicidal.

plant-based powder - not enough protein?
fezik23 replied to Tootles1975's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
If you mix it with soy milk you count thT protein too. My surgeon recommends 60 gr of protein as a minimum. You can only metabolize so much protein at a time. -
I have been a practitioner for a long time and took precepts about ten years ago. Do I have any company here?

Nice to meet you Keith. I had my surgery 6/25. I'm really glad I did it and sorry I waited.

I went to decaf after a few weeks. Now I drink half caf a few times/week, and one cup of real coffee/week. I am afraid of coffee as an irritant. I don't believe I will ever go back to my old caffeine habit.

Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?
fezik23 replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Rants & Raves
Yes! I find it frustrating too, and I wonder whether these folks are getting no guidance from their providers or they go into this blindly or are just not paying attention -
Intermittant Fasting IS good for healthy people
fezik23 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can google it. For five days per week you eat a reasonable diet, and for the other two you don't eat more than 500 calories. -

Questions? Night sweats, vitamins and exercise
fezik23 replied to tsangia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For about three or four days after surgery I had the same thing. It was the body's way of working on getting rid of all the extra fluid from the surgery and IV. -
Yay!

Good for you!
