48 hours from now-sleeve time-yikes! My nerves kick in a little more each day. I can't imagine how i'll feel tomorrow and Tuesday morning! Someone asked about hair loss-i'm not too worried about it, i have thick hair so i don't think it would be something other people will notice. Also my NUT recommends taking Biotin daily starting preop to help with this. She also said i can juice post op as long as i add protein powder to it, so i'm hoping fresh juiced vegetables will add alot of nutrients that will be good for my hair. I'm hoping my new sleeve will tolerate the juice okay. I'll take it slow and see how it goes. Good luck to everyone on the pre op diets these last couple days-i know some move to clears only.

Just got the sleeve done

Congrats! I'm getting mine done next Tuesday. Do you have trouble with nausea or getting a little water/shake down? -
May 6 for me- i was nothing but excited until this morning when the nerves kicked in. It's time to start thinking about getting the laundry caught up, meals together for my family for next week, and packing for the hospital stay. It seemed exciting when it was further away! However, i am ready to just do it. This pre op diet is challenging, i cheated yesterday and ate a piece of pizza-yikes! I did fine while people were eating it, it fact they ate downstairs away from me, then i was putting leftovers in a bag to put in fridge and before i know it one nibble turned into one piece before the rational part of my brain could stop me! I'm moving forward strong today- going to do liquids only these last 3 days (dr plan allows some food). I know some people don't even have to do pre op diet and some do 3 days only, so i don't feel like i've blown the liver shrinking. Anyone's Dr require a bowel prep of any kind?

I'm May 6 also- from Michigan. Can't believe it's only a week away. Maybe we can keep this thread going for us May 6'ers(or close to it) and stay updated on how everyone is doing.

Back to work-Nosey co-workers
onajournee replied to menjaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decided when my co workers ask, i will tell them. I think evenually they would find out anyway and then feel like i wasn't being honest with them. I'd rather tell them out right when they ask, then have them speculating behind my back. i figured what's really the point of not telling-because they may judge me?...no more than they may judge me for being overweight all this time....because they may be against me doing it?....too late, done, and my decision not theirs anyway. I lived in shame of what i weighed most of my life i refused to be ashamed of the path i chose to do something about it. I won't let it make me be less than honest with people. Also people just like me who i saw take a surgical path to weight loss long before me have inspired me to take this step and why shouldn't i let myself be one of those people to someone else. -
Scared..Surgery in less than two weeks
onajournee replied to njkelly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning- i'm also a May 6 sleever! I'm with you Kelly about just being ready to get surgery done and move on to post op. It will be here before we know it. Kelly-I know several people who have had the surgery, one being my sister, that go to buffets alot and eat everything they like, just small amounts of it, so i think you will enjoy an Atlantic city buffet again. When you think about it, we just eat until we are stuffed at a buffet anyway-that won't change, we will just be stuffed sooner! So what's everyone stocking for their post op Protein? Just curious did anyone else's doctor say to use lactose free products for the first couple weeks? -
Calories post op?
onajournee replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering about this also- as I'm buying some things for my post op time, i was wondering if I should be picking things are highest in Protein and also the most calorie dense, since in the first couple weeks you don't get much volume in. My Dr said not to worry at all about the carbs, just the protein. So if you get a couple shakes in per day for the first week or two-seems like it makes sense to be getting more like 600 cal than like 300 by choosing higher cal products. Any thoughts? -
any juicers out there add unflavored protein

I'm having surgery soon and i love juicing (mostly vegetables), i was wondering how soon post op people drink veggie juices and has anyone found a good unflavored Protein mix to put in it. -

momonanomo-so is there a reason you needed to wait until 4 weeks out or do you think it could be added sooner? I have a good juicer, so it would be pure liquid, and then if i add protein to it, seems like it could be used soon post op. What are your thoughts on that? -
Hi- i was wondering as i'm preparing to stock up on some post op protein items what type of things people found most palatable in the first 2 weeks post op....hot ,cold, sweet, jello, soup, or more flavored water type products? Also can you use sugar free gum and mints in the hospital?

eating first 2 weeks post op
onajournee replied to onajournee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mschwartz-i'm surprised you can eat pureed soup type thing so soon, or was it real thin? the recipe sounds awesome, just seems like it would be thicker than what i anticipated i could eat at that stage. Has anyone made "protein popscicles" using nectar or fruit flavored isopure? -

How long post op can you eat all foods again
onajournee posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi-having surgery in May and just curious from those of you who have had surgery how far out post op would you say you could eat any food you want, just in small portions. Curious when my eating will feel somewhat "normal" again, after all that liquid, and soft food. -
No bowl movement since Tue day of surgery!
onajournee replied to re14768's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm having surgery on May 6, and this reminds me of a question on my list for my Dr next week. I was wondering since for the 2 week preop diet i will be taking in so little food and fiber, and then anestesia and pain meds can also slow down digestive track, and then not eating fiber for quite a while post op, what about cleaning your system out a couple days preop with miralex, laxatives, or mg citrate type of thing. Anyone's doctor suggest something like that? What about benefiber during 2 week preop?
