Hey I see a few of us our online anyone know how to get us all into a chat room?

Hang in there! Keep walking. I had incredible pain in right shoulder after mine and wanted to climb a wall. Think ice would help instead of heat? If pain keeps up don't be afraid to reach out to your nurse or doctor. Good luck.

Hi. Are you still sick? If yes, you can always ask your doctor for an anti-nausea med I had it prescribed to me when I had the flu really bad a few years ago. Promethezine I believe its called and there is another very expensive one that dissolves on your tongue. Other poster is correct, call your doctor. You don't want a slip after all the work

Eating too much- stitch in Side
lizziee replied to CincyUdy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told when I had my sugery if you eat to much or feel like something is stuck to lean to the left and it actually helps. I get that pain also. I I'm back on the boards bc I have been super stressed and have derailed from my exercise and eating habits. I needed a reality check as to why I went through all the steps to get this done & need to get back to working the band. Any help is appreciated! -
HI ALL! I've been off the board about a month b/c of work but I'm back and I don't notice anyones names? Wheres Amy? OregonHolly? Para Girl? WantSoBad? Am I in the wrong thread? Well here's an update didn't lose or gain a pound since last visits. Finally got re-filled plus additional ccs since they removed it all in November. I'm baffled because I am down almost 4 dress sizes but the stupid scale isn't moving. I'm walking 4 miles a day. I joined a soccer league but it was insane my games were at 11:15 and 11:45pm on Friday night. I am old people OLD! So I am thinking this is not going to work. Its been so cold here last few days I resorted to doing stairs in my house but I'm not the most graceful doll on earth!!!! Hope everyone is well. How are you all doing?

Ice tea is bad for kidneys, you may want to try switching to lemonade. I have had major kidney issues in the past and my Urologist suggested lemonade over cranberry something to do with the uric acids. I'm not sure if the CL Tea has the same as other brewed teas but I'd lay off it a bit. Also try Uristat which is available at the pharmacy it helps lessen the pain b/c it never fails to show up at 2am! Also turns your urine a lovely orange! My kidney issue is problems with not being able to process Proteins, celery & berries which is why I have to avoid a lot of it I get stones. Kidney pain is the worse I feel for you. But for a man to get stones is hell on earth! Watch yourself.

Band - You seem to have NO restriction. If I even attempted 4 slices of pizza I'd pay the price. I can do one slice but not the crust and I have to eat slow so I definately have a restriction based on your reports and I was schooled 3 times now by the band b/c I ate in a hurry or didn't chew enough. I have had to learn to slow down which right now is so hard b/c of my job I'm on auto until the holidays are over. No flu shot. Got one once and will never do again. I'm not big on meds/shots. I take my bc and allergy pill and that is more than enough for me. It wa just a really bad case of the flu that felt like a 7 day world's worst hangover. I think it was so bad b/c as we all know or will learn throwing up/dry heaving with a band is torture! Its all good now. I ate all last week no problems. I so wanted to be down 40 by New Year's so I have really been watching, getting in my Protein and veggies. I will take 35 that's 7 lbs and be happy if that's all I can obtain. Baby Steps. -

Bandster - I've had the flu to the point the called me in meds to stop the vomiting and he felt I should wait b/c of swelling. I've haven't gotten sick in over a week now so I am actually thinking of calling and asking to come back in b/c my next appoint isn't until 1/21. Now that I'm better I'm eating way more than I think so I've started keeping a log to show him. I only have 1.5 in my band and he said that was .5 more than they usually do on the first fill. Can you believe he had the nerve to tell me to be patient!?!?! lol that 2 a week is good. LIKE HELL! -

AND did I miss something b/c Amy your friend is not skinny and as a fellow fat chick I can call her not skinny! NOT SKINNY Guess the one good thing about us all having this done is you will find out who your real friends are in the end. I told everyone b/c I didn't want to have to deal with the questions. Its our life, our choice! I don't think any of us would discourage someone to not quit smoking, why can't we make the same decision for ourselves and health not to be fat! I keep thinking as I get older things or people will stop shocking but but they never do......:paranoid -

Amy Girl! I have been off the boards due to work and just read this whole thread and how dare her! I am so sorry. Everyone has said it but let me repeat it b/c I really like you and think this is total bull. I don't know you personally just via this forum but I think everyone with any sense can see that.... 1. This is not a friend 2. This is SO'oooo not about your WLS its an EXCUSE to bring her own insecurities and issues to the table 3. J E A L O U S 4. A REAL friend doesn't have to agree with your decision but should support it or keep her mouth shut. Your doing what is best for YOU. You didn't need her to ok it. She doesn't pay your bills or live your life. I'm thinking someone is having a bit of a pity party for herself and is afraid that this WLS of yours and the energy that it takes to get our lives in check may cut into the time and energy you put into her. Would she cut you out of your life for being a vegan? I love you didn't respond to her email. It was childish and I'm sorry but after 25 years your worth a phone call. It speaks loudly to her issues and the caliber of person she is.....it just took 25 years to show her true colors. She isn't being honest with you or herself. I'm am sorry that this person didn't have the respect for your that you obviously had for her by even including her in your major life decision. Quite frankly at the end of the day it was your business to have this surgery, she should have felt honored you included her. Your hurting and angry and you have every right to be but your strong, you have a wonderful husband to support you, and don't forget you got all us too!!!Hang in there girlie girl. This kills me, we all were warned this happens but you never think it will happen to you. -
I had my first restriction on Tuesday and was back on solid foods today. I didn't follow the rules, I think I ate too fast or didn't chew enough and I was schooled by the Band! It was a fast and ugly lesson. Within 5 minutes I had pain and next thing you know it was the 50 yard dash to the bathroom. Back to liquids for next 24 hours. I don't believe I can ever eat any chicken again. I'm so mad at myself, doctor even said to me Tuesday this is where we start getting into it for real, you will not be able to eat like you could and you must slow down. Eating today was nothing like the first few weeks after post-op. All the vomiting think maybe I lost a pound????? Just kidding

Go to the Monthly Lap-Band Support Groups and check out the groups who got banded last August, September and October 2006! Their tickers are pretty cool. Some people are down 46 lbs but a lot of people are down 100lbs plus! I know a lot of us are discouraged and its all new now but I'm willing to bet a 12 months from now ALL of us will be jumping for joy without anything jiggling like jell-o! Holly girl hang in there! You did not waste your money every pound lost if an win. I don't know who said it but if we wanted it off fast we'd have picked Bypass and become Star Jones looking bobble heads (cracking me up with that one). We will do this and do it together.

I think the I have just lost my flipping mind. I am pretty sure I just agreed to play on an Indoor Soccer team starting on the 20th........Guess that's one way to get moving! Wish me luck! I just started back doing floor pilates haven't used my machine. If anyone has Comcast they have a fitness part on the ON-Demand section that has exercise channels from Cardio to Yoga I think even I saw belly dancing. If you can't affort a gym or aren't sure about going yet its a good place to start. I noticed from doing the pilates my clothes fit a lot better scale didn't move.

Had my first fill yesterday. I don't know about the rest of you but for me it was weird! I was on liquids last night and back to normal food today, I can tell the difference with only 1.5cc fill. I did make a big mistake in the middle of the night, woke up dying of thirst, took a big gulp of Water and a few seconds later thought I was back to day 3 post-op. The pain passed in about 20 minutes but it definately wasn't fun. Anyone else keep forgeting to sip not gulp? That's been my toughest adjustment especially not drinking when eating.
-
Mbanja is right! The scale is not your friend. I feel your pain, got my first fill and was not down nearly what I thought I would be but I'm down 2 pant sizes so that is my saving grace right now. Hang in there!

Has anyone looked into Weight Loss Surgery books. I am thinking about buying the Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies and called Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery by Pat Levine that has recipes that cordinate where your at in your post-op (I know I could have used that 5 weeks ago) b/c it addresses liquid and mushies stages. I'm going to B&N tomorrow so I'll let you all know what I find. I was just wondering if anyone else may have purchased and what they thought. The reviews on Amazon seems to favor the one by Pat Levine the most.

No Lap, I'm not filled. I'm hoping Tuesday (13th) I will get filled. I've eaten out a lot since being filled. I order Soup as my dinner and a small salad or fish. Fish seems to be the best choice at least for me. When I was on mushies I got mashed potatos or something similiar. Don't forget your Protein. I carry mine around in a little baggie in my purse and sprinkle it in everything that I can mix up. If you know where your going look up the menu online and plan ahead. We went to Cracker Barrel today and I ate off the low-carb menu and gave half of it to him to finish.

I second the bread issue! I have tried twice now because the first time didn't hurt bad enough. Ate a bite of an english muffin Wednesday and 15 seconds later swore off bread for life. I have tried pizza same deal. So far no other problems, veggies and fruits going down fine. I even had a bite of steak and that was ok just really chewed. I'm finding myself to be scared to try foods though. So I've been sticking to the same stuff.

Twice now I have had to call my doctor's office and TWICE NOW I can't get a damn return call. First was about another issue but Ive come to find out I can't tolerate artificial sweetners well! Yeah me. I have been extremely dizzy last 3 days. I sucked it up for 3 days thinking its just my body getting use to working again and the 450 calorie diet until today it got so bad I couldn't drive and had to pull over. This was after spending all last evening with chills. It was warm here. I don't think I'm being overly concerned and gave myself time to see if it would pass but I haven't read one post about anyone else being extrememly dizzy. It feels like I am completely off balance and foggy. It comes and goes and then I'm fine. However, today it lasted for about 2 hours. YES I ATE & DRANK Am I right to be upset that I can't even be given a return call?

Looks like we know who is getting to 1st grade!!!!! Good for you! Kids are brutual and will let you know what's up so you have gotta be loving that! My guy finally said something on Friday night. I actually got a WOW, I can really see it in your face and belly. God love him b/c he knows any comment/compliment regarding weight could be a potential situation depending on the mood.:rolleyes That was the validation I was waiting on, he sees me daily and for him to notice and actually say something was a big deal.
