    Scale or no scale

I just posted this in another thread. NO SCALE! I am using a pair of pants to judge not the scale. Before surgery I designated a pair of white pants that were a hot mess on me! I'm almost 5 weeks out and I can zip and button them without taking out an eye & use of spandex! Most of us know white pants show no mercy and they actually look pretty good. When they are really loose I will pick a new piece of clothing and work my way into that. I have a shirt that I try too but I'm sad to report it is not happening just yet. Clingy and showing the love! End of the day its up to you girl! If you think you can handle a scale do it, for me it would be a bad thing.

    Banded, now what?

Here's what is helping me. Stay away from the scales everyday! Use your salad plates to eat off instead of dinner plates. Mugs instead of bowls. No TV or Computer until after 7pm. Protein - I carry a plastic baggy around and use it in everything. Hope no cops stop me! Use your clothing to judge. I designated a pair of pants as my official TEST PANTS (white pants and every woman knows they are not forgiving)! I'm happy to report they are buttoned and zipped without the use of any major equipment, spandex or loss of life or limb! 4 weeks ago they wouldn't even zip and my legs looked like sauages. I had to start measuring everything again! My eyeball methods proved inaccurate. I think we are so use to overportions that what is really normal seems like such little food. I know it psychs me out to see a 1/2 cup of food and think NO WAY is that going to be enough. Anyone else feeling that? You guys are so much stronger than me b/c I haven't weighed myself since a week after surgery b/c I know if I see I gained or didn't lose what I think, I would go off the deep end worse than I did Friday. PMS and Lapband are an evil combination. I even kinda of scared myself.......but my guide says 3-4 weeks out are big adjustments b/c your body and mind are adapting to all the changes. My thinking is a lot of us are just getting off mushies and there was a lot of carbs so we probably gained but what are you suppose to do during that time except follow your doctor's instructions. I'm not beating myself up until I get a fill and get use to normal food on band portions. Its a slow process we knew that getting into it. We didn't gain this overnight and we can't lose it overnight. We Can Do This!!!!! Slow and Steady Healthy and Ready....for our next phase of life! My Tony Robbins portion of the show is now over!

    Dustout! What's a lapband card?

    First Fill

I was just wondering if anyone got their 1st fill yet. Could you feel her filling it. I think I'm stupid b/c I never even thought to ask what kind of band I have. I asked or so I thought every question I could imagine. I'm hoping to get mine on the 13th. I just moved to real food last Thursday and I get full on less food, I don't feel the restriction I think I should have. I'm eating about a cup or so of food.

I guess this is Bandster @*&%

I simply think your judging some of us when you can not possibly know where some of us are at only 3 days post-op. We have all read, we have all listened to our physicians, we have all seriously thought out this step heck leap we took to get our lives back. To post 3 days after getting banded and telling us to get moving, eat right, blah blah blah is adsurd. Good for you that you paid for your surgery but you paying for your surgery doesn't put you in any different boat than the rest of us. Every single person on this board is different. We had different pains, we had different diets to follows, different hungers, and the mental struggles that have come with the things that lead us all to the BAND. The band is the only thing we have that joins us. So why don't you think just a bit before you post and not tell us not to be hungry when your only 3 days post-op. I'd be willing to bet 3 weeks from now you might just want to EAT YOUR WORDS you'll be so hungry.

    How many calories?

500 and its been tough sticking to the plan. I went AWOL on Saturday but got back on track Sunday.

    Favorite Liquids and Mushies

Protein Protein Protein Each morning I put my 2-scoops of protein in a little baggie and carry that bad boy with me all day. That way I make sure I'm getting enough in per drs orders. (2 scoops = almost 50 grams) and I'm suppose to be at 60 grams so its helping get me there. I got the unflavored from GNC - I think there is only 2 choices when it comes to unflavored (Design Something I think its called) and it ran me $26 for a huge jug. I can't do the milkshake route so I put it in everything including my drinking Water. It really mixes up well in everything and no ick after taste.
  8. Cookie your fine girl! Just keep measuring and get in the Protein to fill you up. I am still on mushies until this Thursday and I am one miserable @#$#^.....I think I was overeating so I went back to the measuring cup to keep my food in check. My instructions say that if i get hungry between my meals I can have a protein type snack or shake. Wonder if a salad is considered a protein type shake? Just eat slower and get in your protein. Get the unflavored kind and put it in everything even your Water. Just don't let the cat/dog get to it b/c man that was not good! Couldn't figure out why my kitten suddenly smelled like a pig farm. At night he was sipping my water with the protein in it and it was going right threw him. Smelly Cat Smelly Cat I am seriously craving some veggies and fruit. I am not going to lie I ate some celery on Saturday. I don't know about the rest of you but my 14 days of all liquids was a lot easier than these 14 days of soft foods. I think I'm just sick of the same consistency type of food. I'm getting really grouchy.

BEN BANDED 3 DAYS AGO???? How those pain meds working for you buddy? Do us all a favor.......when you are 26 days out how let us who have been banded longest on this board know how your feeling and exactly how hungry you are!!!!!!! Because 26 days without any fruit and veggies is making me damn near nuts. As far as the mashed potatoes that is actually on most of our menus to eat along with OTHER MUSHIES FOODS such as eggs, oatmeal, soup. As far as exercising per doctors, and I'm sure I didn't see an MD on your post, I am not to resume full exercise for 5 weeks out. I can walk but no other stretching or similiar activities. But hey you've been banded 3 days.........so I'll sit right up and listen you your post telling the rest of us to pretty much get over ourselves! Here's a news flash 500 calories per day right now for me if I wanted to exercise I couldn't because I am so flipping tired. Prior to this I walked 4 miles every day. Pissed off and hungry for a freaking salad. LIZ PS YEAH YOU ARE A JERK since nobody else wants to say it I WILL! And I'm usually really nice but your post simply pissed me off. HOW DARE YOU

    Goals!

Hey All. What do you guys think about setting up our goals mid-November early December. That way we can push and keep each other motivated? Can we put a 2nd ticker with our mini-goalso or is it one ticker per person? That way it will give our late October bandsters time to heal and get back to normal food. I would like to be down 25-30 lbs by November 25th (bday) I know to obtain this I have to start back to my exercising but I don't have the energy quite yet. I'm hoping this weekend i can get my boys back to their daily walks. I picked them up from boarding tonight & man I forgot how strong they are 120 lbs pulling is no joke right now.
  11. lizziee

    Goals!

Don't even try to count rain drops sweetcheecks! Well it does make your clothes heavier which in turn makes you work harder.........
  12. lizziee

    MY face

That's so funny you mentioned it, I just noticed I have bumps on my chin area and I have good skin (sorry for the ego but I do). Try Proactive I'm 36 and swear by the stuff even though I never had any real acne issues as I got older I got these weird ones so I tried it. It worked.
  13. lizziee

    I...cheated.

Is anyone else finding the soft food stage to be a bit harder than the liquid stage. I am to the point I'd rather just not eat. I was so excited to have Mashed Potatoes but I find myself making an egg instead. This isn't that good b/c I still have 10 days of soft foods. I think I'm just over food with no substance and not being able to chew something. I really am craving a salad. I feel like I need vegetables. Anyone else having this issue? 14 days of liquids and now 14 days of soft foods is a long time with no vegetables and I AM NOT making a Tuna shake!
  14. lizziee

    Noticing self more?

Way to go on the 26lbs! HOLY COW!!!! Just don't get scared when pointy things start sticking out of your checks....its ok they are just CHECKBONES!!!! I almost forgot what they were. Im noticing the weight disappearing from my middle and face the fastest. Thelma and Louise are hanging in there!!!!
  15. lizziee

    Goals!

Ok how are you guys getting your second ticker???? I have tried 2xs and failed. Carrot you asked what kind of goals I think whatever works for you. If getting more exercise is your thing -do it. If seeing the lbs come off works to motivate someone perfect. Its our world to shape it as we want right now. I think its a matter of choice just as long as we have something to measure results. Some people need shorter goals (like me) others like the long term. Either way your moving your losing something be it weight, inches or both. I like the exercise ticker too but I'm more into the lbs b/c I have no choice but to move my butt every day my dogs do not walk themselves. I can't wait to get back on my Pilates machine but doc said no go until 5 weeks b/c of the stretching. I want to be down 25 post-surgery by November 25th. I was down 13 last Monday.

    Mad Really Mad

Doctors finally called back at 10:30am! He seems to think (and I agree) I need to get some more carbs in my diet b/c of the amount of activity I have been doing. I don't feel as loopy but getting out of bed today was a $^%&! Felt like I did 200 crunches and we know that didn't happen.....ever! I am working from home today and taking it easy. PS I ATE AN EGG!!!! I was never so excited to a scrambled egg in my life. lunch is going to be mashed potaters! :hungry: I am so glad liquid stage is done.

    Mad Really Mad

Maybe I have have officially overdosed on Soup and jell-o!!! No temp I'm feeling BLAH. To sum it up I feel like I took my pain meds (loopy out of it feeling) without having to take any pain meds plus I'm achy and WHINY as you all can read.:sick Just wondering if having to get in & out of my car all day, carrying stuff into my accounts, and the driving it may have finally caught up to me. You don't realize how much we take for granted those muscles. I had a good food day: almost have in 50oz of Water, 8oz of Cranberry juice, 6oz of Prodiet Soup, and a Jello pack. I tried to do more soup but couldn't get it down. Gag me with a spoon! That's for us Children of the 80s! I would have been fine with a phone call saying Suck it up its part of the process I would just like an answer. I'm really not one of those people who run to the doctor I have to be dragged or threatened into going.

    Fellow October bandsters - help....

Do Not Do IT! You didn't come this far to screw things up now! Sorry but its true! We all worked to damn hard to get approved/save our funds/get the surgery to not take the instructions from the doctors with some seriousness. Have you tried different Soups. My drs said chicken noodle (small noodles), bisque, creams, and the ever-loving Jello are all ok. Get some variety I know it sucks but try it. What about trying a few smaller meals with less ounces. I think we all feel you on the liquids, today is my last day and I gagged down soup at lunch. Hang in there.
  19. lizziee

    We are the TENaciousTENS!

Hey Miriam! I received a book of instructions from my doctors and it said that if your feeling blocked (kinda late now I now) but for future reference. It states to lay on your left side for a bit and/or sip warm tea. I'm not sure if it will actually work but if it happens again you may want to try.
  20. lizziee

    Goals!

Just testing if we could do a 2nd ticker

    Banded??? Check in here

I must be wimp. I can't believe some of you are back at work 2 days after. To that I say way to go. I'm 11-12 days out and today was my first day out and about in my territory and I am whipped. I dont know if it was all the driving (150 miles total), the in and out of my car, or walking all day but my stomach bothered me this evening and I was tired tired. Took a nap and now I am WIDE AWAKE!!! Am I being an impatient whiny fussbutt b/c I thougth by now I'd be 100%? Heck I thought that for the last 5 days. Cookie do not answer that question!!!!
  22. lizziee

    When is your 1st fill?

November 13th but if I don't get up to 8oz doctor said today I may not need it! Yeah ok Thanksgiving is right around the corner and my birthday....better fill me up! That is my favorite meal ever!
  23. lizziee

    I...cheated.

Sorry Amy missed your ?. ...oh yeah I'm regulated. I was given a 60 page book with breakdowns for my Clear liquids, soft liquids, and soft food stages. 450 calories first 14 days, 500 next 14, 8oz this, 6oz that. Thursday I can do certain foods for the first stage of soft foods but not others until the next 7 days. November 3rd I go to foods. I haven't been able to get 8oz in without issues. I tried again yesterday and got very dizzy and sick to my stomach. The idea of throwing up scares me back to 6oz. Doctor said that was fine.
  24. lizziee

    I...cheated.

Carrot, are you suppose to be getting some Protein in there? I know your having some problems but I think that's the one constant with all our doctors was getting protein. I got the unflavored and mix it in everything b/c I am not losing my hair! My docs said 60g of protein per day. Did I mention this Thursday is Mashed Potatoe Day Folks? Bill Cosby can have his J E L L O!:hungry:

I lost 17 pounds this week!

Way to go! I can't wait to hear how the rest of you are doing! We should have a fat pant burning ceremony Mid-March! I had my first post-op appointment today...I'm down 13 pounds since surgery and 18 total. I practically skipped out of that joint! However, told them I'm only at abotu 4-6 ozs and Dr told me I probably wouldn't need a fill next month. MY #$$! Fill that baby up! I really must go to the store, DB has resorted to eating oatmeal for lunch today. Yes, I know he could have ate something else but didn't want to bring food into the house. Hey, I can't eat NOBOBY Eats!!!! lol My jeans are loose and my suit pants are baggy. MASHED POTATOES THURSDAY October 18th! :hungry:
