Puritans Pride is where I get mine. They usually have good prices. They just had BOGO on Vitamin and Protein. They let you see the labels so you know what you are ordering. -

Ensure has 25 grams premade or powder. Secret to any powder is make it about 20 minutes before you need to drink it. The chalky taste will have time to dissolve. Also they are much better once you can have them cold. -

I make 16 oz and sip it throughout the day. Since I cant drink it all at once and have to spread it out. Normally it takes me about 10 hours to finish that along with the water and gatorade I have to have daily. I just find it easy to know that once that shake is done it complete. -

Just wanted to let you all know I am praying for us all to recover and find just the right things that work for our bodies. Dont be discouraged there will be some trial and error. The things I read here help me tremendously because it lets me know im not alone in some of my struggles. I feel fortunate to be feeling just about like myself at 8 days post op. My fluid intake fluctuates but I try to make sure I watch it. I have been off pain meds since day 4. No vomiting but have had several rounds with the dreaded dumping. Currently im just ready to move to the next stage of purees. I really have a craving for vegetable. They could keep the meat but oh my goodness I need vegetables. -

I am 8 days out and it was a struggle at first but now im getting much better at it. I determined that if I used 3 scoups of powder in 16 oz of milk once that was finished I would have gotten in 90 grams of protein for the day. Thats done at nighr beforw bed so I can start on it first thing in the am. I keep a water bottle that totals 50 oz of water ans still make sure I have 1 G2 during the day. It's work but its possible. Hope I gave you some helpful ideas on how to push it -

Mine are really itchy. Im 5 days post op today. Fluids, proteins and vitamins are going in good although I have had to cheat to get in the protein. (My powder has 30 grams per scoup so I put 3 in one shake) That way if I forget to do more it has gotten in there. The incisions look clean, no oozing or leakage. They are dry and I noticed today no redness at the site. I hope everyone is doing well. -

Currently I am post op 4 days. Im struggling with fluids but im making it work. What is scaring me is no BM since Sunday and now the left side of my stomach is beginning to hurt. Am I being over anxious or is this something I should be looking for by now? -

In my evaluation we just talked so he could determine if I was stable. He asked about my family worries fears and why I wanted to have the WLS. Then you do the evaluation test 580 questions. They called me back to do give me tge results and sign the approval letter before he sent it to the surgeon.

I am definitely doing all I can to avoid any colds or fevers in the next 2 days. Preop diet has me worn out though. I fell off the wagon seems everyday but I only had a salad or some cottage cheese or fruit which the doctor told me should be my only cheats if I just cant take it. Down 11 lbs since I started it but im sooooo over it now! I hope your cold releases you before Monday -

Not sure where to start. Please help!
Bigjkzgrl replied to undeadfluffslayer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on what type insurance you have and if it will cover WLS. The best thing to do is start there. Once you know if you will need a referral from your PCP then do your homework on surgeons in your area. Make a choice then an appt and you will be on your way. -
Told you it wouldnt take long. Congratulations!

bypass expectations
Bigjkzgrl replied to rhfactor272's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery isnt until Monday but from all that I have read both here and on other sites DUMPING is triggered but eating sugary foods, eating and not allowing the food time to pass through the pouch bwfore drinking or eating to fast. Also asked my doc as I was expecting the sleeve and dumping can happen in sleevers too. May not be as severe. -
It will not take long. I think my time in the process has been the shortest of all. I had my primary care doc do my referral the first week in February, saw surgeon the first time last week in February. Did all the pre cert requirements first 2 weeks of March and got approved last week of March. Surgery is in 5 days. Im so nervous ive been reading the posts in the post op room to catch up on what to expect. They post some good info that you may not have considered I believe everyone should go there and read through. It will give insight and ease the nerves some it may add on once and a while though. Good luck to everyone waiting for approval and surgery.
