Forced to be put on birth control after surgery?
tfarr replied to tfarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@BitterSweet I do have their clothes packed away. I have donated lots of them already, gave some to friends who are expecting and so on. I almost feel like your judging me on my decision to not take BC? If the good lord above has it in my books for another child, great I would love another baby, " normal" or not. I'm not going out of my way to get pregnant believe me. I just wanted to know if this was brought to anyone else? The BC issue after surgery. -

@@BitterSweet That I don't know. We have condoms and use them at times. I don't want to use anything for myself. -

Thank you all very much for your responses. It is odd it wasn't mentioned to me in the beginning either. I've been thinking only ride home tonight how awful I would feel if I did end Up pregnant after surgery. I couldn't live with myself if i was unable to sustain life because of my selfishness. I'm so lost now with this. We have used condoms, that's it. I'm 38 and feel as though I'm done having children. My son will be 4 in April and my daughter 2 in October. I had them late. I never thought I could have children, so they are my everything. I have to call the office Monday and get the low down on this birth control thing. -
Yippie!!! So excited for you jdillion!!! It's been a long road for you, your surgery is over now and hopefully everything went well! So glad to follow your journey. See you on the Post-op sleevers soon I hope!

New here, any October/ November Sleevers?
tfarr replied to Nygirl7575's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ccuaron - the hospital I am working g with in NH requires all that. My Ins covers BMI over 40 with no co-morbidities, 35 BMI with 2 co-morbidities. My BMI is 39.1, super close, but going through it all anyway. I have no co-morbidities. I'm almost through though, I more pre-op group and the psych eval. Then I see the surgeon. I feel like I'm waiting to see the great and powerful OZ lol I was told to stay between 240-245. I was 239.5 going In and stayed that way till June. When I went up to 245 ( I stopped nursing my 18 month old baby) There gonna help me as best as they can. They say my ins is pretty good about things so fingers crossed -
Good luck all of you!!! I'll keep you in my prayers tonight

New here, any October/ November Sleevers?
tfarr replied to Nygirl7575's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Gals! It's funny how every program/Ins requirements are different. I was told it would be 4-6 months of provider visits and nutrition visits. 2 exercise therapy visits. Psych screen, 2 pre op support groups, and a 6 week lifestyle changes course, THEN I can see the surgeon for last visit and tentative surgery date providing my ins company approves -
Wow, that's awesome! Mine said no. I wish a co-morbidity was joint pain.
-
I'm sure they won't. I just asked the director of the program tonight of there was advocacy for me during an appeal to maybe help me out of I get denied, I should say when I get denied. She said I am so close to the 40 bmi (39.1) She's going to see what they can do to help me
-
Asthma is not a co-morbidity either because surgery will not " correct or eliminate " the asthma. Pain I know, I am asthmatic
-
Hi I have anthem BC/BS of New England And I was told depression was not a co morbidity or joint pain ( bursitis ). I'm under 40 (39.1 bmi) and I'm sure I'll be in denial aisle when they call me. I'm still going through though:)
-
That is so awesome!! 3 weeks! I'd be going bananas with excitement lol I still have a couple more months I'm sure before I even see the surgeon. With the program at the hospital in NH where I am there are LOTS of requirements. They say it takes 4-6 months. You have to do 2 pre-op groups (first Monday of he month) a 6 week lifestyle change group, nutritionist and PA appointments , 2 visits with the exercise physiologist and a psych eval. Whoo! I think that's it lol It's like that because it is an accredited program and apparently that's what makes it extensive like it is. Plus I'm sure I'll be fighting w my insurance because I haven't been at a qualified g weight (5 lbs off) . But I am super excited for you!! Let me know how it goes, because I had asked about the pain. How much pain is involved, " oh,minimal pain" but then on the other hand they prescribe percs and Vicodin lol that doesn't sound like minimal pain to me

Jdillion, I remember when we were getting our sleep studies done the same week and yiu have said some pretty positive things to me. I admire your courage to speak up for yourself against these grumps who say those things to you. Stay strong and smile you can do this
-
I know how you feel You do what's right for you. Don't bother what other people say, their just haters But I agree, no co-morbidities is a good thing. Why wait for that to happen. Stay strong and keep up the good fight!

Has anyone had to dispute insurance denial?
tfarr posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had topics on here before about what I'm going through, but, it's possible after I go through everything I may not qualify for the surgery due to non qualifying weights. ( I've been 2 lbs off each weigh In except today's) I do not have co-morbidities. The PA said if I go through everything there is a chance my ins may not approve due to the weights. I just want to know if anyone has has to fight with the ins company to get approved? Thank you so much Tracy -

I'm the best at leaving Info out (sorry) Im still going through the process. The PA tasked me a couple visits ago if I wanted to Pursue this anymore because my weight is only a few lbs shy of the required weight and that into ins may inot approve Because of being 3 lbs off at all of my weigh-ins and not having co morbidities. So I was just wondering if it's worth going through all with the possibility of being denied. I'm going too now, before I wasn't sure, but I now -

Wow, insurance companies are something huh? I hope your doctor is able to have them reverse their decision. We go through all these appointments, nutrition counseling, psych eval, pre-op meetings, exercise physiologist and 6 hr pre-op groups ( where I go that's what they require because they are accredited) just to hear "No"? Doesn't seem fair. Thank you for sharing your experience, it's helpful to know someone else is dealing with something I fear and is able to set my mind at ease. Thank you again -
Hi everyone I, like a few of you, am one of those "healthy" obese people. No co-morbidities and my BMI is 39.1. I had a sleep study to possibly show apnea, but so far nothing. I go for my two month weigh in next week and I'm sure I will be told I so not qualify per my ins requirements. I've been trying to gain. My go to is peanut butter but I gave it up for lent and nothing is working. I'm super bummed. Is there any one who has gone through this? And, what did you do? I've thought of taping rolls of quarters toy body, but my luck they would bust open and go all over the floor lol Thanks everyone . This is defiantly a great group of people:)

This post of mine got way out of hand lol I agree, with the horror stories. People get the wrong leg worked on, different procedures done that weren't suppose to be done all the time here. Gauze and surgical tools are left in people a lot. I have one question about going to another country for surgery. Did the flight home worry anyone? I think of the pressure in the ear drums that pop. I didn't know if it made the surgical area more sore?

The story I read was " My Mexico experience" from girliegreeneye.

BMI exactly 40, will I be denied if i lose any weight?
tfarr replied to missmee's topic in Insurance & Financing
It's a hospital gown -
Thank you too the people who understand I am not a racist
-
Ok, seriously??? Racist? The people who are commenting on me being racist are way off. As I wrote , if you read what I read about this woman's experience you would question where she had it also. Sure there are lousy doctors and surgeons here in the US too. Maybe I should find this story ON HERE and send it to all of you. Sorry if your all so dang sensitive. I did not utter one iota of racist statement about a Mexican Person, heritage or any of that. Relax

@cookiesgotthis- when you were at the hospital for your surgery did they weigh you in a Johnny? I have my second weigh in tomorrow and I'm gonna have to add weight to my body somehow. Only like 5-7 lbs. sounded easy enough to put on in a month but it has been hard. I was thinking of fishing weights lol
