Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
tfarr replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@deanna I will be getting mine done December 2. I also am an Nurses Aide, how long were you out of Work for? My dr says 5-6 weeks due to the constant lifting and boosting. I work in a " no lifting" facility, but we all know how that goes lol -
I feel fit bit fooled me. I loved it at first. Until I realized it read way to many steps than my hip pedometer did. Then one night after work I forgot to take it off while brushing my teeth and I miraculously "walked" 100+ extra steps, I was just moving my arm from the brushing lol After wearing both the pedometer and the fit bit , I feel the fit bit is inaccurate in comparison

Call from Dr office two days ago saying my ins was terminated
tfarr posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
I got a call from my surgeons office saying they submitted all my paperwork and the ins company said I was terminated from my plan. I was livid! I work for a non profit in NH that has multiple facilities, I recently transferred to a new facility and there was an " error" swapping over my ins info to the new place. It's all taken care of now. But, I truly wanted to lose my cool on someone because I JUST had my last appointment 3 days prior lol I just needed to vent Thank you- -

Will Regence BCBS deny me if I lose too much before surgery?
tfarr replied to Trillium's topic in Insurance & Financing
I asked my surgeon that very same question. He said " no it will not effect your surgery and ins coverage" During the two week liquid diet to prep the liver we are expected to lose weight. -
"...but you're 7 pounds short of qualifying"
tfarr replied to Engteacher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess it depends on the center and the operating surgeon. I went for my last appointment and I was sweating qualifying ( I also am 5'5 and my first weight was 239). My bmi was 39.4 and my ins requires 40 with no comorbidiries. I also gained 4 lbs ( I stopped nursing my daughter 4 months ago which made me gain) My Surgeon told me he's using the weight he got that day of my appointment and that's the only one he's giving them. So needless to say, some ins require all monthly weights to see if there is a gain or just the one. Apparently Anthem BC/BS of New England is pretty good about these things. Thank god!!! Keep going to your appointments and see what they say. -

How did you all make it at home the first two weeks with small children?
tfarr replied to tfarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow such great responses Thank you all so very much:) I wish my kids napped at the same time! As long as recovery isn't worse than c-section recovery I think I'll do fine lol -

Has anyone lost weight without exercise
tfarr replied to aNewLife14's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Kindle, You said you are a vet tech? How long were you out of work? I am a nurses aide and we both on our feet all day and lift heavy things. I'm not sure how long I should be out. My doc said 5 weeks? -
I have to be out 4-6 weeks. I am an LNA in NH and because of the heavy lifting and constant moving I need to be out longer:(
-
I quit smoking cold turkey 7 yrs ago. It was hard, I was a mega-Bi. The first week is more of a physical withdrawal, then after is all psychological. It's not easy, but it's worth it Good luck

Forced to be put on birth control after surgery?
tfarr posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My friend just had the gastric by pass and was made to go on birth control For he first 18 months. I totally understand why, we would never be able to take in enough calories to sustain the baby. I get it so please no negative comments. I was not told about this and we go to he same office. I have children and do not believe in birth control. Only 2 lol but, why was I not told about this on the beginning? I feel like I've wasted my time and money on this and I'm almost done my requirements. Is this a requirement for everyone?? -
