I agree, bring pants, like lounging pants. You'll probably feel best in the hospital gown because of the heart monitor and IV. Chap stick, Chapstick ,Chapstick! Deodorant and if you prefer your own toothbrush and toothpaste bring it. Otherwise the hospital provides those things for you. It's only 2 days, I used he hospital stuff lol I'm 6 days post op and I really just needed my pj pants. I was out of it the whole first day and the second day I was a little better. The only things I used were my pit stick and pj pants out of the bag I packed, oh and sports bra lol

Dec. Sleevers: What are you eating now? How are you preparing for surgery?
tfarr replied to mom2kandh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi !!! I was skeeved december 2. So far, I'm still trying to get my 8 cups of water/fluids in, plus all the protein. I never thought it would be this hard to drink only 8 cups of water. Today I used the power aide zero. I believe that helped me tremendously. So protein shakes, chicken broth and I tried for the first time protein pudding! It was great! But after two spoons worth it felt cold in my stomach and I stopped lol -
So full of post-op questions :) Is it normal not to reach your protein goals 5 days post op?

@@scootie Does that go for athletes only? Or everyone including us post-ops? It just doesn't seem like enough protein? Unless your able to get in all that milk, blaaa lol -

I wish I could give you a big hug. I'm 6 days out and this is he best day for me. I hope and pray you get through this it's not easy, but everyday it gets a little better. Big hugs

I'm glad in not the only one who had a visit from Mother Nature before surgery lol I am 5 days post op and look like I have two belly buttons lol The largest Incision was above my navel and its swollen -
@@Mark, Thank you I am struggling right now. I know my new sleeve is swollen, but, I am having such a hard time getting fluids in I am very diligent about the 30cc every 15 min, but I get full and can't do more. I'm only 5 days post op and am gonna call my surgeon in the morning. The lack of protein is a lot to deal with too. Ug, this to shall pass I am not regretting this at all, I'm just adjusting.... Roughly lol

Ok, this is just strange to me. Yesterday at the hospital my surgeon told me I had an elongated stomach, and that he removed a foot of my stomach!! What the heck !!! How does that happen? I though during the pre-op diet it would have shrunk a little Has anyone else had this?

I had the leak test also. The drink they give you is the worst tasting thing you could possibly drink. I forget he name, but it's not the same as my barium swallow. I'd drink that over this any day . Everyone is different. It may just be your body reacting to the surgery. It is major surgery. I hope and pray your blood pressure regulates. Stay strong

Thank you all so so much! I realize I am only5 days post op and will learn, but I am so afraid of dehydration. And lack of protein. All of your suggestions are going to help me immensely. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Xoxoxo -
I was home Thursday, I've noticed its pretty hard getting all my meds in. I have to crush effexor 3x a day, crush lamictal 1x a day crush synthroid 1x a day. But, I can't take the lamictal and effexor too close together. Synthroid once I wake up, then wait 30 min to "eat" and I believe 1 hr before I take any other med. I'm feeling the withdrawals from not taking my anti-depressants properly since the surgery. Such an awful feeling.

I came home from the hospital after a 2 night stay. Now this morning I am totally weak. Probably lack of fluids and healing, but boy am I weak. Should I be resting when I get like this?

Yes, just like a c-section pain.

I have pain there too. It's where they separated the muscle to pull the stomach out

@@Johnathan blue I'm out and home from surgery. I was surprised I didn't have a sore throat. I knew it would take a long time to get down a protein shake, but 2 hrs?!? Lol

Phew, what a relief. Can I count the protein shake towards my 8 cups of water? -
Hi I am extremely nervous right now. I was advised to write letters to my two young children Incase anything happens. I am trying to do that now and can't get past a few lines without crying. I know the odds are slim of something very bad happening, but it does happen. How many deaths occur from the sleeve? I think it's 1:1000 right? I just need some help right now from you all who have had this procedure. Were you just as nervous as I am? I just feel terrible

I didn't realize how hard it is to get water to stay down

Surgery tomorrow, very scared.
tfarr replied to tfarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for responding. I needed that little extra boost, the letters, I ended up writting a letter to them about their day tomorrow and when they come to see me. They are 2 and 3 1/2. I'm scheduled for surgery at 7:30am, I hope I will be feeling more like myself by 2. I don't want them seeing me all hooked up and doped out lol My daughter lost it when I had a foot X-ray id hate to see her face when I'm post op fresh -
I can't remember what my nutritionist said about soda and why it can't be part of the pre-op diet. Im scheduled for surgery Dec 2. I have been drinking diet soda off and on these past two weeks. How bad am I screwed? Lol
