Hospital stay and How long were you out of work?
tfarr replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there I was in the hospital 2 nights. Out of work for 4 weeks. I am a Nurses Aide and I do a lot of bending, lifting and I'm just about on my feet for 8 hrs. If I had had a desk job he would have put me back at 2 weeks -
After watching "My 600lb life "'last night I heard the Dr say " malnutrition". That's one thing I never thought of Before. With the vitamins and protein shakes and little bits of food I thought that was good. But apparently the woman was existing on protein Shakes alone. That's pretty much me. Excluding the baby food lol I got moved to phase 4 yesterday and to be honest, I'm a little scared to try new things. As much as I want to totally do it, I'm very hesitant.

I see a nutritionist monthly and have post-op support groups that are every month.
-
Look how gorgeous you are! In both pics. What a transformation. You must feel unstoppable !

Believe me, I'm not intentionally just having shakes and vitamins. I want to try these things, I'm just a tad scared too. The new protein shake I got is super filling! Syntrax Peanut butter cookie. Totally delish, but way filling. I'm on my break at work and still feel super full from the one I finished at 3. I'll take out the milk and just use water. I appreciate all the feed back

December sleevers How are you all doing ?
tfarr replied to hootney1214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there:) I had surgery on December 2. I think I'm doing ok so far. My SW was 244 my SW was 219 and now ( I just stepped on the scale this morning) And I'm 200. I pretty much wanted to fall over. I have been 209+ for over 13 years. This has been a true tool for my weight loss. I feel blessed that I've been given this gift of health and life. -

I haven't done anything right
tfarr replied to ELI.p.m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry your family does that to you. That is completely unacceptable. Who does that? That's just mean. I'm surprised the hospital paid 100% for your surgery? Seems strange. Unless it was like a charitable care plan. I hope you get the help you need as far as a nutritionist and support group goes. Most state insurances or Medicaid would probably cover a nutrition visit or two. Try and look into it. We all need support mentally and physically Next time your family waves food in your face and laughs at you. Just tell them that it's real mature to do that. If they still do it, smoosh their face in their plate ???? -
Help. Sleeve was Monday. Feel like crap
tfarr replied to jnfisher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 5th and 6th day were the best. I started coming out of my fog and able to feel about 80% better. It will get better I promise ???? -
I've done the baby food.... I actually love it! Lol

Tomorrow I shall be cleaning out my closet. I just realized how much I want to do that. I'm going back To work tomorrow and needed to try on my "smaller " scrubs. I packed away the 2x and brought out the XL tops and Lg bottoms. Super stoked! But, why am I having an issue about parting with the old ones? Or my old big clothes? I normally would stash them away for future use. But, now I won't need them again. But I still wanna keep them? Crazy

December Surgery Thread - we rock!
tfarr replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Guys! I had surgery December 2. My pre-op diet weight 244 my SW 219 CW is 205. I've been an ole Chunky Monkey since I was a wee lass. Seriously, since about 10. Issues throughout my whole life with weight. People saying " you have such a beautiful face" gotta love those comments Huh? I have 2 children 3.5 and 2 yrs old, their dad my fiancé. Maybe this year I'll get around to planning some sort of wedding, I'm the last girl ( as far as grandchildren go) on either side to get married. Huge family, big thing for the families. How to do that on a skimpy budget? Elvis anyone? -
I tried the Syntrax Grape. I put it in my water bottle and figured " hey. This should be like crystal light right?" Wrong lol That too is an acquired taste.
-
I had 6. I'm pretty sure one was an "oops!" Because it was puny and never hurt like the others did and healed super fast.
-
@@Elode right! Some are crazy expensive. That's not a bad idea, I've always wanted to sew lol

I'm going back to work on January 2, exactly 1 month post-op. A friend of mine said " don't tell anyone what you had done, let them think you did it on your own" like losing 30 lbs in a month is totally normal? Lol I am a horrible lier,. I know she said that because it would probably bother me if someone started saying stuff like, easy way out or lazy. But I feel ok ( at the moment) to tell people if they ask. It's my life right? I just know I'd be upset if I heard someone was talking about me. Ug, what did you all do?

I never had any dressings on mine. I was instructed not to put anything on them. I had derma-bond. My scars are hard to see. Now that the glue and scabby areas are gone I apply cocoa butter and it seems to be working fine

Comparison: VSG to C section?
tfarr replied to laurenella82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only part I can remotely think of as C-Section pain was at the largest incision site. Getting up out of bed was like, whoa!!! I've felt this pain before lol Because it's where they had to separate the muscle. It's only for a few days then it's good. That's the only pain I had. -
For the past 2 days I've woken up feeling totally full. I thought it was gas, I took Gas X strips and didn't work. I called my Dr office and my surgeon said I may have eaten to fast and to go back to phase 1. I'm sure that is true. I'm not eating much, once or twice a day. I mainly drink and have protein shakes. But I do drink fast and to much at once. Sometimes my thirst over comes me and I just drink. Why is that a problem again? I honestly can not remember. I'll be 1 month out on Friday.

Surgery in the morning...Prayers Appreciated!
tfarr replied to kimdlawson06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was terrified to. I was thinking the worst possible outcomes. You will do great! Surgery will be a snap and the next thing you know, you'll be waking up in your room wondering what time it is Prayers to you with your surgery and God bless ????
