Dr.Provost Denton,Tx... Has anyone had revison with him?
itsmekarenlee replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is an old post but wanted to see what you ended up doing? I had provost and due to his neglect a few times and a crappy office staff I won't ever recommend them. -
Hi everyone When taking your Vitamins and suppliments do you take them all at the same time? I take 1 Multivitamin, 1 2000mg vit d, sublingual vit B complete, 1 Fish Oil/Omega 3 pill, 10,000 mg Biotin and 2 Chondroitin/glucosamine tablets at one time. My one year bw came back fine, for what he tested (my MD/FP missed a lot of tests though because he didn't know, I don't think, but we'll get them all in Dec. I don't have a bariatric Dr anymore). I take the 500mg Calcium chews in the middle of the day but I usually always forget those. I wish I could just take them with the pills I take in the mornings and get them over with. I was wondering- if taking all those pills at the same time are they all getting absorbed ok? Because I have heard we can't take the 1000mg calcium at one time because of the absorbtion.

BMI 35 or lower. Would you sleeve or bypass?
itsmekarenlee replied to OldMomOf3's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I was bypassed only because of having GERD. I don't have it anymore. If you have GERD it can get worse if you get sleeved. It may not but it can. My husband got Sleeved and did not have GERD or heartburn much but he does now. -
A year out and I still feel weird with the compliments and double takes. I forget that I look different to others and wonder why they don't say Hi to me! lol The one statement I do not like though is if they ask or if I say I want to lose about 15 more lbs and they respond, "No! You're already skinny enough! You'll have nothing left of you!". I get offended because why couldn't they have the balls to tell me to stop eating because I'm already too fat pre wls?? ugh I am not ungrateful for the compliments but it is getting old. I am not comfortable addressing it anymore. This is just HOW I am now and I finally match what I have always thought I looked like.

DFW TX Surgeon selection? (Dallas / Ft. Worth)
itsmekarenlee replied to Better than dead's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
True but I think truth could be a difference of opinion as well. I just hope people trust their gut. I should have trusted mine at the first meeting with Dr Provost and a few times after that when I questioned his care, or lack thereof. If anyone wants details of me and my husband's experience please pm me but ultimately just trust your gut. I didn't and that's my only regret with this whole experience. Also, go to at least a few orientations or one on ones with a prospective bariatric dr before settling on one. -
DFW TX Surgeon selection? (Dallas / Ft. Worth)
itsmekarenlee replied to Better than dead's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I just worry about slander, defamation of character but I also know that he did it himself by his treatment of me. I cannot excuse his negkect of ignoring me when I was suffering in 100% pain after surgery when he refused to give me a pain med that works on me after I told him what does work ans that morphine, diladid and others don't have any affect on me(he put me on morphine anyway). 9 months later and I still hate him for that. Pure neglect. Even the nurses were on my side. There were other major (imo) issues as well, not just with me but with my husband's care we quit seeing at 3 months post op. I have learned of a couple others who have had bad experiences with him and/or his staff (which was bad also) -
Feeling full?
itsmekarenlee replied to turndown4what91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, measure. It took me a good 3 months or so to feel any kind of fullness. It's been 9 months and I still don't feel it until it's too late. ack! Then I don't feel too great. blah Measure measure measure -

If we do not recommend a Dr should we post that and why? -
I'm just curious how often people REaLLY get their blood work/vitamin/mineral/etc testing done. I read somewhere it's supposed to get done every 6 months for the rest of our lives but I find that hard to believe that most people follow that. I'm not judging if you don't because honestly, I doubt I will either after a while due to cost, good consistent bw results, etc.but will probably do it once a year after a few initial times of good bw. I'm only four months out now and my 3 month bw was all great. I'm not quite sure when to get it done again though. Our bariatric Dr (er, former since we fired him) wouldn't do bw until 6 months post op so I had our family Dr run it all at 3 months. Should I get it done again at 6 mos post op or wait 6 months? Our family doctor doesn't know either but he'll do whatever/whenever we want it done.

Weekday moat parole????? Stupid autocorrect. I think that's supposed to be "a trigger" or something like that. I forget.
-
560 true false questions, they'll ask why do you eat in search of underlying issues that need to be worked out for you to be successful with this. I don't have any triggers so if you are like me then I suggest lying to them so that she won't keep drilling you and make you cry and feel like shit because you don't have weekday moat parole have that made us overweight. Ya, I hated my psych and have never went back. Hopefully yours will go smoothly

Sick=stuck

July 18th, was 230, 5'6", now 165. Was sick at 170 while working out for a month, stopped working out, lost 5 lbs over the holiday break, even after eating junk and drinking too many bourbon 7's. So I conclude I must keep eating junk and drinking bourbon 7's. Lol before you get you're panties in a wad, I'm jk with that conclusion!!! lol I'm getting frustrated with comments spine people say to me. They never told me to stop gaining weight before surgery but now they feel they can tell me I shouldn't lose anymore weight or I'll look too skinny. I just tell them that clothes are deceiving and I want to lose another 15 to 20 lbs or wherever my body decides to level out. It will level out, right?? Or could it keep losing??
-
Has your Dr told you you can't donate blood ever again? One of my friend's bariatric dr told her no because our bodies need all the Protein it can get. We fired or bariatric dr so we can't ask him. Curious what yours have said. We wouldn't be able to until next July anyway.

I'm meeting someone there tomorrow and I don't know if there's anything I can drink. 5 wks out, allowed solids now. Obviously I don't want sugar drinks but don't know what other options I might have. Any suggestions for this one visit besides water? Decaf green tea? I don't know what that tastes like. I.miss coffee though....... maybe just a reg decaf coffee?

A feeling similar to morning sickness?
itsmekarenlee replied to CarmelKiwi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
do you have a glucose monitor handy? If not, you might want to pick one up at the store and do occasional checks throughout the day to see how your glucose levels are. -
my <former> bariatric dr said meals 3x/day only. No Snacks. My regular dr disagreed and overrode that and told me to eat 5-6 small meals per day which makes more sense to me. Now, whether or not I DO is a different story. LOL
