for those that have had a revision from sleeve to bypass....
itsmekarenlee replied to itsmekarenlee's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had herd before my bypass abs taking 40mg omaprozle daily. After the standard 30 days of taking it after surgery I haven't needed to take it. Gerd is gone. I just want peiple to be educated about this since it sounds like most doctors aren't advising their patients about the increased chance of the heartburn getting worse with the sleeve so that they had they would save the trouble and expense if being a revision. -
Just curious to hear what foods you've tried but can't tolerate anymore. I hear with gb you can't eat sugars (ie candy, candy bars, cake, ice cream, etc) anymore. I'm going to stick with that. I hope. I don't even want to try because if I try and I feel ok then I will eat more and get fat again. Also, just curious, if you get a craving for something your not supposed to have can you chew it then spit it out to satisfy the craving? Obviously not taking about ice cream. Dangit. Lol

Did your drs who did your sleeves not tell you that the heartburn/gerd could get worse with a sleeve before your got the sleeve? I'm finding that drs are neglecting mentioning this to their patients. I just want to shoot it out to everyone who has this provlem before they make their decision but I know it can be 50/50 chance of it getting worse after. -

Some drs are ignorant asses. Mine refused to give me the one pain med that works on me after telling him nothing else works. So he made me suffer in pain after surgery. I'm having issues with foods getting stuck but I know ifI tell them (dr and nut) they will just say to eat smaller bites and wait in between bites and leave it at that. I'm getting so frustrated with this. Eating is a pain in the ass anyway so I'll just drink my protein instead. -

Update, I have eaten pizza since my OP and haven't had any issues. Haven't had much food adversions at all except for sushi but I may have just eaten too much in that case. -

Foods you can our can't eat per Dr preference. frustrating!
itsmekarenlee posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
UgH!!! I'm reading so many food suggestions from other posts on here and half the stuff others are allowed to eat aren't on my approved foods list!! SO frustrating!!! WHY can't I have creamed Soups???? My nut says because it just goes right through you. So many people are able to eat mashed potatoes and gravy yet we can't, nut says because there's no nutritional value to potatoes. That goes for life long stage too. So why is it ok for others to eat it then?? I'm really curious what the statistics look like -
Protein shake question
itsmekarenlee replied to PittsburghRNYgirl9814's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, wait to drink the protein drink at least 30 minutes after eating. That goes for any liquids. -
achy bones the more weight you lose?
itsmekarenlee replied to betty_s's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I figured out that my body aches the more artificial sweeteners I drink. Have stopped drinking them and aches are going away. -
I'm having trouble with the first few bites of food getting stuck mostly just at dinner. Then the waves of pain from it so I have to mage myself throw it up to clear it and then I can continue dinner with my husband and kids with no further problems. This happens almost every night and it's so frustrating. I'm just about to resort to protein drink only for dinner. Yes, I might be rating too big of bites and yes I might be eating too fast but I don't eat dinner Amy differently than I do lunch or breakfast and sometimes it's even the same foods. So yes, I know I need to eat smaller bites and mostly not eat one bite after another but is there anyone else with this problem with a particular mall time in case it's something else??

stuck food usually only at dinner
itsmekarenlee replied to itsmekarenlee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I crock potted the chicken and it was dry. I think my crock pot cooks too high of a temp, even on Low. Frustrating. -
The sushi didn't taste different to me. It was very good! My new tummy, however, thought otherwise. :/ I kept it down, both ways (barely), but it was very painful and uncomfortable. It went away a couple of hours later.

Friday is our 8wks. I ate sushi last night. It used to be good pre surgery. Still taste good post surgery but new tummy did not like it. At. All. I will never eat sushi again!

^^ Mine too Ruby. -
$58,000 Do you know what yours was? (I don't want to know what you personally paid just the overall cost of your surgery.) I was just shocked when I saw the bill, especially when we were told about $29,000 and we'll "get what we paid for" which I absolutely did not. :/ It's sickening.

I added hot water so it's more like 3/4 decaf, 1/4 caf
-
I do sometimes but since I've been off of caffeine for 9 weeks and want to get off bp med I figure it's better not to start it back up. but I am drinking a plain half caff coffee now and it tastes fine. Yay!

When I go on the App ads keep popping up now. Never did that before. I quit using the app.

achy bones the more weight you lose?
itsmekarenlee replied to betty_s's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm still achy. I get up and walk like a 90 year old until I'm stretched out. Seems moreso now though. Our surgeon won't do blood work until 6 mos post op. That's another 4 months away. ::sigh:: I'm going to ask our family dr to do blood work next month. I need my thyroid and hormone levels checked anyway. He can check vit D and vit B's while he's at it. I hate that our surgeon is waiting so long after to do them. :/ -
I agree Pik. Well, I made a bariatric safe pumpkin spice coffee drink yesterday. Discusting! I poured it out. Today I bought 1/2 caf coffee. I'll try it plain tomorrow. It's what I drank pre-surgery. If it tastes gross too then I will try regular caff coffee. If that tastes gross too then I will be very sad because that will only mean that my taste buds have changed post surgery. And that would just.plain.suck!. My husband would be happy because he can't stand the smell of coffee. But I have determined that I hate the taste of all of these fake sugars. So gross tasting. I think that's the real problem with any Starbucks/non-starbuck's coffee's. blah

I got a small decaf, skim milk, cinnamon latte and added splenda. Mmmmm at first, then it got gross tasting after a while. Lol. I hate fake sugar. Bluch
