    Beating the Pain Game

But if you get a dr that refuses to give you the one pain med that works on you and you tell him before surgery that morphine and diludad (and others) don't work on you and still he refuses to give you that one pain med (Demerol) that DOES work and that you've just had 8 months earlier for a major surgery (and some of my other surgeries, that's how I figured it out), then you are just poop out of luck and you have to writhe in agony after surgery as the nurses feel helpless and on your side (they called him twice and he still refused and couldn't be bothered to come in and check on me) when you chew the dr out the next morning, he snickers, and then get an anxiety pill scripted to you an hour later. I was fine and refused it and the nurses, again, agreed. Jerk. (I have more choice words but will refrain). Needless to say, I will no longer pay him over $200/visit for him to ignore me anymore. DONE. Now, If I can just be DONE with these resentful, hurt, hateful feelings..................... ugh

Preop diet starts in the morning

Dmaddox. We had the same Dr as you. Good luck. You will be able to drink after surgery. Just tiny sips though. They don't monitor how much you are drinking though if you are doing it through denton presby, which I thought was... odd that they don't monitor anything you eat or drink before you go home. Are you ok with morphine for pain relief? Because that's what he gives, or diladid.
  3. With the amount of calcium we need to take after bypass I'm curious to know if there's and correlation with increased chance of kidney stones or breast calcifications or anything else?
  4. I'm the "other". My answer is yes, the first one, however I would NOT use the same doctor who neglected me. No way.
  5. Oh, and our bariatric Dr is "one of the top bariatric drs in Texas". Ya, that's what they all say. Whatever. Neglect is neglect, and I hold grudges. Sorry, I'm still not over it and my whole experience with him.
  6. I agree. Even our family Dr overrode our bariatric Dr on our frequency of eating and I agreed with him. There's been a few unrealistic "rules" our bariatric Dr tells his patients that are against common sense even. We no longer go to him, for those and other major reasons. Like I said, I drink less air with a straw than I do just drinking out of a cup. To each his/her own.
  7. He blew a gasket at you?? Or at the nurses?
  8. (4 months post op) Did fine, no problems except sweet potato got stuck. Had to let it go so I could eat more. Turkey (any meat for that matter) can easily get stuck for me but did ok this time. It helped that it was just a turkey breast, not the whole turkey, and I think it was processed or something. Made it easier to eat rather than the dry, hard cooked turkey. Tried the ham too but it came already sweetened and I don't do sweetened meats. yuck. Already on to leftovers! YUM I'm noticing that the more carbs I eat the hungrier I feel. What's up with that??? I finally broke the stall and I noticed I have been eating more carbs than before. I have got to get this all figured out. So frustrating. They stress eating Protein protein protein and more protein and when I do I don't have any room for the veggies and fruits or anything else. When eating the protiens I wasn't as hungry either, now that I've added the carbs I'm not feeling satisfied and feel like I'm eating too much and too much junk yet I broke the stall and finally losing again. I've also taken a break from exersize this week. Coincidence? I wasn't losing weight when excersizing and when I stop I start to lose the weight. This is all so confusing.
  9. Stupid Swype autocorrect.... grrrrrr
  10. Side say with a straw you sick in more air and that's what can stretch the stomach. right after refusemy surgery I felt I was swallowing more air when not using a straw and a straw helped reduce the air. I guess everyone is different with everything and sometimes Drs aren't always right.

    Any one from Denton Tx

I have a few regrets and one was going through him and his office and not trusting my gut a couple of times. We won't be going back. I AM happy that you are happy with him and you had a great experience though

    Initial Consultation Disappointment:(

Whereas I don't recommend him if you want a personable, nice bedside, Dr and don't want to be ignored and neglected. Office staff aren't pleasant either. Except for the Nutritionist. He does do a fine job on surgery though. I've had no issues.
  13. I'm just going to eat what we normally eat just in smaller proportions. I'm even going to have a bite or two of candied sweet potatoes (recipe a bit modified of course) and a small piece of pumpkin cheesecake. No regrets for this one day a year.
  14. I haven't noticed a difference between using a straw and not using a straw.
  15. Well I ever be able to eat a bite of pizza again?
  16. I like it. It's not pretty like some of the bracelets are but I want it to be obvious it's a medical bracelet, not a decorative one that I'm afraid they'll look over. I bought it at CVS. It's easy to put in all my medical history and updates. I biggest fear is getting in an accident and not being able to communicate that no med works on me for pain except for Demerol. The first thing they give is Morphine and it has no affect on me at all My bariatric dr refused to give me Demerol and made me suffer after surgery, even after me telling him morphine, diuludad and other pain meds don't work on me. I don't want to go through that pain again! Now I just hope they'll believe me and give me something that works. There's got to be something else besides Demerol that works on me but we haven't found it yet.....
  17. Loriemoms, could you ask your husband if he's ever come across someone with a bracelet you stick in the computer and get all the health info on? I wear one of those but also thinking about getting one with the info written right there in it since its quicker.

    Juicing

Weird. I would think the more stricture releases they do the weaker it gets.

    Juicing

Hiya :-) Been well. On another freagin stall. Stuck at 175 still but feeling good. Been resizing almost every day for the last 6,7 weeks, don't notice much of a change physically doing that. Still eating healthier than before surgery but I read what people on here are eating and I'm at a loss. Seems too difficult/complicated. I'm lucky if I can get dinner made. Lol would rather just drink the Protein and shove all the fruits/veggies in a blender and drink then too. Lol food is annoying. Trying to figure out what to eat is annoying too. How many more procedures are you going to have to do? Can't they put in a shunt or something?? I hate that you are going through all this My husband is fine too. No problems. Finally off of the Coumadin. No more blood clot. Yay!

    Juicing

Old thread, I know, but I'm finding that by the time I'm done eating my protein at every meal I'm too full to eat the veggies/fruit so I haven't been eating much of those at all. How are we supposed to do this?? Still don't feel like I'm getting enough protein either so I drink a Premier. I'm thinking maybe emulsifying (I have a Ninja Bullet. I hope that does the job) fruits and veggies and drinking them between the protein meals will help? What do you think?

    Post-op follow up visits

We fired or bariatric surgeon @ 3 mo post op (last month) and switched to our pcp. Unfortunately he doesn't exactly know when to do the testing. I read somewhere we are supposed to get bw done every 6 months for the rest of our lives but that seems a bit too much to me, especially if it's constantly good. It's pricey too!
