Transition clothes...
MOSunshine replied to catlover2565's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am struggling! I feel like i am tossing clothes every month. I literally have no spring or summer clothes. And getting dressed is now very frustrating. I go to my closet and just want to cry. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE that i have lost over 80lbs and am now a small 10, but it makes getting dressed hard. The clothes I bought when i was a 12 are now getting to be too big and arent flattering. I am nervous about buying more clothes because i dont know how small I am going to get. sigh..what to do -
Day 4 Post-op Need Help...
MOSunshine replied to Marla265's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! you will start to feel pretty normal again in a couple of days. I had really bad reflux as well and could BARELY stomach Carafate. But when I saw my doctor for me 2 month post op appointment, he told me to not eat or drink anything within an hour of going to bed. That will help with the reflux. I know the reflux sucks big time, always sounds like you are gargling mouthwash. For me that has not completely gone away, BUT it has lessened dramatically. I don't take anything for it right now, I am waiting to see my doctor in August for my next appointment, but know that it does get better. I also couldnt eat much for probably a couple weeks, but as long as you are getting in some Protein, don't worry too much. Protein and Water are the best things you can give your body right now. -
March 2014 sleevers
MOSunshine replied to Skittles00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 3/17/14 and have lost 55lbs! I feel wonderful!! I was able to pull clothes out of a suitcase of old clothes i either had never worn or literally grew out of them. It feels so good to have a defined waist again and not have a muffin top when I put on my jeans. My birthday is next month and I am hoping to loss another 10lbs by then. I have been able to really retrain my brain when it comes to food. I pack my lunch with salad, fruit, cheese and crackers. And drink mostly Water. if i need a flavor boost i get a Mio and put in a few drops of that. I also have figured out a way to have a cheat meal every now and again. If i am craving a burger, I get a kids size and take the top bun off. A sausage biscuit...same thing, take the top layer off. It goes down well as long as i take my time and i don't feel like i am depriving myself of anything. I still snack on chips and Cookies from time to time, but that is very limited as well. I usually can only eat a few chips or eat a couple of cookies at a time, which is all I need to satisfy any craving. It was hard to imagine in March that I would be here feeling this way and looking this way, but I am so glad I did the surgery. I still get sad from time to time when i can't chug water after a workout, but I am getting over it! I hope all my other March Sleevers are doing wonderful! -
Best tasting protein bars?
MOSunshine replied to cdouglas35's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
"Oh yea" bars are pretty awesome! 20g of protein and they taste like a snickers bar. I have only found them at Albertsons and Amazon. Best protein bar I have ever tasted. And I have tasted ALOT -
Well because I can eat such small amounts, I am all confused on what to eat. It took me from lunch to dinner to eat a Wendy's grilled chicken wrap. I didn't chew well on my last bite and ended up throwing up in my kitchen sink. That was so traumatic for me....I don't care to eat solids anymore..went back to liquids and yogurt. I am wondering when I will be able to eat solid foods comfortably.

Does anyone else feel their food traveling down their belly?!
-
I am 18 days post op and I feel great. My love affair with food is definitely dying. I mostly eat now because I have to, I don't really plan my meals because there is so little that I can actually eat. It is a little depressing to be honest.

Vomitting after eating
MOSunshine replied to honeyg317's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor pretty much left me to my own devices. First two weeks liquid, then I can eat whatever I can tolerate. The post op diets are guides, go at your pace. Definetely don't push to eat foods just because you can. I am finding bread and Cheetos have to place in my belly. I can eat a little bit of chicken, but I mostly eat yogurt and tuna fish and I am three weeks post op. Good luck! -
Should I go pescatarian and dairy free for one month with my sleeve?
MOSunshine replied to TheNewSusie's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@@TheNewSusie you should try this site IIFYM, my boyfriend stalled with his weight loss...and started following this website, and pushed through his plateau big time. I would definitely change up your diet Or try a different workout routine. Truth be told...abs are made in the kitchen! I see you are extreme low carb right now, adding in a few more carbs probably wouldn't hurt. As long as they are good carbs and not all bread. Also are you weight training? Try sucking in your stomach when you are doing cardio, that will help you burn belly fat. Goodluck! -
started solid food a day early (shame on me) but i couldnt wait! Had fish and spinach kinda...I built it up in my head as going to be the most fantastic thing ever...but alas...having to eat slowly...my fish got cold lol. So back to the drawing board. And i did find something at the grocery store called P3, they are like protein packed lunchables! Has cheese, meat and peanuts or almonds. Each package contains 14g of protein. For a regular person suppose to be a protein snack, but I am going to try to eat it for lunch tomorrow. I have my two week check up tomorrow...hope all is well! I did get really lightheaded today at work and had to go home. I passed out as soon as My head hit my pillow. has anyone else experienced this before?

@@jaxhdsn I did not have any soups the first week, but I did start having soup on day 8. A coworker of mine was nice of enough to make me some tomato soup. It goes down REALLY well and hits the spot. I am not sure if you have a La Madeleine near you, but you should try their french onion soup...it is divine AND a 1 cup serving is only 100 calories and 4 grams of fat.

Well I am 9 days post op and boy is life easier! Those painful days in the hospital and the the day I came home are now distant memories. Although I think I may be suffering from Acid Reflux...I feel great. All my sutures have fallen off and my scars are healed up all nice. The gas is gone, and even though i feel hunger...I just drink my Water and Protein drinks. I do have a wonderful co-worker who made me the best tomato Soup. Although...the strangest thing. I was told in the hospital that my tastebuds would change, and that things will be sweeter. Well things are saltier to me too! I had two people taste the same soup that I thought had to have been double salted...but NOPE..apparently I am just super sensitive to sodium now I have no idea if this is permanent...I will keep you guys updated on that! I am counting down to April 2nd, which is when I will be able to eat fish and eggs and more solid food..i can't wait!

Hi! I am 8 days post op! I no longer have the painful gas like i did the first few days, but I discovered that if i would sip AND walk at the same time, the gas bubble would come out my mouth much faster and easier. Hope that helps! Stay positive, the gas phase will pass (literally) in just a few more days. Good Luck!

Specific friend advice needed! Pic included
MOSunshine replied to dreamscometrue's topic in Rants & Raves
I also decided not to share my plan for surgery with anyone except my boyfriend and one co-worker. I was so sure that was the proper way to go, I didn't want people to suddenly look at me and think "is she fat enough for gastric sleeve" give me a good look and think "oh yea, she is" I was embarrassed and didn't want people to realize that I had indeed gained that much weight. (50lbs in two years). But a few days before my surgery I told my best friend of twenty years because I felt SO guilty for hiding it from her. She totally understood why I hadn't said anything....but then got sad. Her feelings were hurt that she felt I couldn't have come to her during my decision making. She felt out of all people...why wouldn't I share it with her. Which is ultimately why I did. (She too has been a 9/10, most of her adult life) So maybe just maybe....your friend has her feelings hurt because you haven't shared your weight loss success with her. Fortunately I have not been heavy my whole life. So once I get back to my normal weight, it won't be anything "new" toy best friend, so I don't expect any changes on our friendship. I'd give your friend the benefit of the doubt as well...maybe she hasn't said anything because you haven't said anything. Another thing, not that I am judging...but my best friend lives 20 minutes away from me...she is married with a child. And I have 2 children and a serious boyfriend and I see her atleast once a week. It shocked me you only see your best fried that is 30 minutes away once a month. Perhaps it's time to look at your friendship and see if you really are best friends still...you could have grown apart. Or your friendship could have changed from best friends to just friends over the course of the years. -
I am so sorry to hear your struggles. I am only 6 days post op and still regret it as well. I was hoping by the time I get to eat solid foods again I would be ok. I kept reading "you won't even have an appetite" but that doesn't seem to be the case. I feel real hunger. And being a big foodie, I crave food so it's really difficult to just drink water and protein drinks. Stay strong

I had my surgery this past monday and today is my first full day at home. I am still wondering "what on earth did i do to myself" and a friend of mine told me its just like child birth...the first few days after you think "i am NEVER doing that again OMGEE" but then a couple months later (if that) you are smiling and can't wait to have another one. I am still waiting on the latter. I have terrible gas whenever I drink anything, which makes me frightened to drink. I am afraid i will become dehydrated soon. If anyone else has had HORRIBLE painful gas, please tell me what you did to avoid it or cure it because walking. Last night I couldnt sleep in my bed because it hurt so much. Today was much much better. I chewed on ice chips and had minimum gas, but i will need to start sipping on some Protein shakes soon. Any suggestions?!
