    vaginal bleeding post op

I have endometriosis, and polycystic ovary. I had an ablation in 2008 and was told I probably would never have another period. Lo and behold, 4 days post op, one of the worst periods ever graced its presence. So glad I had the Tylenol 3 on board! Now I don't feel like something is wrong, looking at everyone else's responses

    1 Day Post Op.....It's a breeze!

I am 9 days post op today, and definitely feel this was the best decision of my life. My second day I was thinking what the heck did I do to myself. It gets better and easier with every day. Keep moving and keep sipping slowly. I have to make sure that I am sitting up straight to get everything in. Sipping slowly is my downfall. Every day is a learning experience. So glad I can jump on this app and make some new friends who are going through the same things I am. I am 5'1" starting weight at my first nutrition class 219, pre op day of surgery 209, 9 days post op 196

I am really getting tired of them also. What brands does everyone like and what flavors? Any suggestions on doctoring them up? Still in full liquids phase

    Constant burping post op

I am 9 days post op and I had the same thing. I always ate and drank fast. I find that if I slow down and sit straight up, it isn't as bad. The nurses gave me these little medicine cups and it helps me to slow down.

    My story

As far as what lead me to surgery, that would be my health. I have always had female problems. Polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, wonky hormones which led me to lose 20 pounds and that was it. I was a certified nursing assistant and suffered a severe back injury about 13 years ago. It made working out impossible and even some days just walking. I, then, developed an irregular heartbeat. Have had high blood pressure since age 20. Migraine headaches. I became really sick and tired of being sick and tired. My family doc referred me for the surgery. Didn't even give me a choice. I was told by two different back docs that, and I quote, am fat, crazy and need a psychiatrist, because they couldn't find anything wrong with my back. I finally went to a specialist who found the injuries. I have herniated discs at L1-L2, L4-5, L5-S1 with nerve impingement to both the left and right of my spine. So much for being crazy! I want to move better, feel better, and have more energy

    My story

Today I am feeling really good, but my body isn't wired right lol! I have literally had three doctors tell me that throughout the medical clearance process lol. The first two days were difficult. I didn't tolerate the pain meds in the pump well at all. It made me nauseous, dizzy, gave me a bad headache, and just made me feel bad in general. The next day after surgery, I had to have the swallow test to make sure there were no leaks, and once that came back ok, they changed me to liquid Tylenol 3. It was smooth sailing after that! The nurses at Wilmington Hospital are fantastic, as are the surgeons. They had my IV up so high, that I was going to the bathroom every hour. My overnight nurse and I became fast friends lol! The only thing that really bothered me was the drain. It just felt like something was pulling. I did stay 3 1/2 days at the hospital, because I wasn't tolerating my clear fluids. It really was just me being a little fearful, rather than nausea or vomiting. I always have drank and ate fast, so I found that I have to slow down and sit straight up, for everything to go down right. All of my incisions are healing fine. I had all of my meds compounded, because crushing and applesauce was not working for me. I was up and walking around about three hours post op, and did fine with that. They will get you up and moving every 3 to 4 hours while you are there. It does help with moving the gas they put in your body. I did have the gas pain in my left shoulder.

    First few weeks

I am 8 days post op today. The first two days were the worst for me. I spent 3 days in the hospital and was released the fourth day. I had really nasty side effects from the pain pump, such as- nausea, dizziness, bad headache, general feeling of not being well. After my barium swallow, the doctor changed my meds to liquid Tylenol 3 and I felt such a huge difference. I had a lot of gas pain in my left shoulder and also a lot of pain with the Jackson Pratt drain. I had a lot of belching and didn't tolerate my clear liquids very well. I found that I was afraid to drink anything, because I didn't want to hurt. The nurses gave me the little medicine cups to drink out of so that I sip slowly. I am always in a hurry, so slowing down is what helps me. Today, I feel great! Just a little sore, but nothing unbearable.
