Emotional Eaters.....How are you coping?
vdennis92 replied to MissNya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost two weeks out and today I found myself in deep emotional trouble however I didn't want to do anything but eat. I never thought I was an emotional eater until all I wanted to do was eat when I felt sad and angry. I always thought I just ate because I wanted to but I guess if that was true I wouldn't have needed wls. -
Support from Spouse/Family
vdennis92 replied to butterfly2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't agree more. No one and i mean not a single person in my life felt as though my weight was a big enough problem and they refused to support me at first. However I knew I needed to do this for me whether some one had my back or not and eventually they will come around. Well they did in fact everyone came together to help out my mom watched my two beautiful boys and my fiance never left my side in the hospital. and my close friends came to visit and show their support in numerous ways. It was awesome. They still don't think I needed it but I thought I did and that was all that mattered to me. -
I couldn't get anything in let alone keep down the 4 oz a hour required to leave the hospital. I was in pain, I needed help doing everything, the nurses constant checking and poking and probing was annoying the crap out of me. I couldn't sleep longer than a few hours and the thought of drinking anything made me sick including my pain meds. so i had a nervous breakdown in there and my doctors put me on promethezine and zofran. after an extra night in the hospital and tons of walking just to get out that tiny room and get some air i was doing better. i finally got down and kept down 6 oz an hour and went home. talk to your doctor about these medications. they may be able to help.

Pain in first 7 days post op - better or worse?
vdennis92 replied to BJay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had similar problems with no pain medication at all since coming home from the hospital. I would say, and I know this sounds crazy but, try to go to sleep without the medicine. It could be what is irritating your stomach. also try walking for about 30 minutes no steep hills though. gas and indigestion cause stomach and chest pains, walking could help relieve this. when all else fails talk to your doctor.
