Hi everyone! I just got my surgery date of April 11 with Dr. Illan and wanted to know if there are others going to be sleeved at that time? I'm hoping to find a buddy as I will be going alone and will need someone to hold my hand. I will be flying into San Diego from Dallas so even a flight buddy would be awesome!

So i just got my confirmed surgery date......April 11th with Dr. Illan. I had such a huge wave of emotions hit me like a ton of bricks i'm not sure how i'm feeling at the moment.

I'm hoping to schedule surgery for April. Hoping to have someone to be my buddy since I will be heading down by myself.

I'm still pre-op but hoping to schedule my sleeve for mid-September. Just had my endoscopy yesterday and getting ready to submit everything to insurance. Cross your fingers!

He is located in Tijuana. I know others will be going alone but its not really the same.

I've tried emailing OCC asking questions but haven't gotten a response back yet. How long did you have to wait for a response?

Hi guys, So I've chosen Dr. Ariel Ortiz at OCC and now I just need to choose a date. I'm leaning towards August as that'll give me time to save more and not have to rely on financing. I'm unfortunately going to have to go alone due to my boyfriends work schedule and he's the only one I told about this. I would feel much more comfortable if I knew another one of you will be going solo, or even with a friend around the same time. I know I don't know any of you personally, but we're both going for the same purpose so i figured that makes us friends!!

I'd like to know this information as well. My credit is not that great so I'd have to finance but am worried about shady people pretending to be finance companies just to get your info or many hits on my report.

Hi everyone, So I’m in need of support. I’ve been doing all my research to find a good doctor and some of you gave me excellent recommendations. I’ve narrowed it down to about 4 that I will be calling to get further info and to see what vibes I get. I just have no one to talk to about my concerns, my goals, my fears. I can’t talk to my mom she doesn’t think I need it and even if she did she wouldn’t want me going to Mexico for it. My one line of support would be my boyfriend and he just doesn’t get it. He thinks I should do it the old diet and exercise way. He says if I diet like him I’d lose it just as fast as he did. His way is hardly eating while taking diet pills and fat burners mixed in with exercising like you’re training for a triathlon and then gaining it back. He doesn’t understand that 1. Men tend to lose quicker than women 2. I have done it his way, for a whole month and all I got out of it was 7 lbs down and a month of feeling crappy, irritated and constant headache. I need people that are going through this and have gone through this. Everything will be ok right? My main concern was going down to Mexico. How safe is it really? How much danger are you in going down there? How was your recovery? Did you have any complications? Were there any moments of regret and how long did it take you to get over it? How did you pay for it, cash or finance? If financed, was there high interest rates??

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and haven't been sleeved yet. Let me first apologize for the long post that is below, i tend to want to ask all my questions up front. I've been considering WLS for the last 2 years, with the sleeve the past year and surgery in Mexico the last 2 months. My insurance won't cover me so Mexico seems to be my only route. I've just started my research and I get lost so quick. Mostly with what doctor to choose. There are so many of you that have seen different doctors and each doctor gets good and bad reviews, yes i know not everyone will be happy but try finding a doctor with a 95% positive review (high expectations I know) is hard work!! Can some of you please share your expierence from what were the deciding factors for choosing the dr you chose, to booking the procedure, to arriving in mexico and meeting the dr and staff face to face etc. Would you do anything differently? Were there things you brought you didn't need and vice versa, are there things you wish you brought? Looking at some of the topics on here, it makes me feel like going to Mexico you're going on an assembly line of docs operations on patients one after the other. Were the facilities clean....I'm use to US hospitals so are the comparable? Did you feel safe traveling to Mexico? What do you do if you live in Los Angeles and you can just drive to Mexco yourself, can you do that? If you financed, was it easy? Are there interest rates and if so, are they outrageous? Lastly, are any of you in the south bay area that are in support groups or having surgery in around August time? I'd like to know that there are people from this site going down there around the same time.
