    eczema healing 5 days out

That is so great that your eczema has gotten so much better. I too suffer from severe eczema and completely understand the pain and embarrassment. My eczema was actually getting better during my first few weeks post-op but just last week when I was moved over to a regular modified diet all hell broke loose! I can't even sleep and Benadryl or topical steroids aren't helping I asked my dr about a wheat or gluten sensitivity and they kind of look at me like I have 10 heads. That was really the only difference between now and then. My allergist hasn't found and food allergies either. It's very frustrating! I've decided to kind of test this myself and cut all gluten out of my diet and see if there is any improvement.

    meat feels stuck

Same here I have tried tuna fish, salmon, and chicken all very moist and flaky but I can't tolerate it at this point. A little TMI but yesterday I tossed my cookies after trying to eat some chicken and broccoli. I think I may just give up on meat in general for now. It really is not a good feeling.

    Outpatient

I had outpatient surgery at a surgical center on March 25th. I went in at 7:30 am for a 9:30 OR time. When I woke up from surgery they tried to get me up and walking almost immediately, with assistance of course because I was still loopy from the anesthesia. As far as pain was concerned I had a little bit of discomfort but truly no pain. The anesthesiologist told me in pre-op that they would put two blocks (injections with a pain killer of sorts) in my belly so that I would have minimal pain for a couple of days. Once I was able to drink water from a cup and go to the bathroom they sent me home. First night was so/so because of nausea but they gave me meds for that and Percocet for pain. The rest is history. I'm 3 weeks post op and 30lbs down. Good Luck!
  6. I have Anthem BC/BS and they too didn't have any requirements or waiting period. However, when my surgeon submitted all of the info to the insurance company for approval, the fact that I had a history of "failed" diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, etc helped with the approval. Good Luck!
  7. Today makes 2 weeks to the day that I was sleeved. My post-op was Thursday and dr said everything looked great. So far down 25lbs! I could move on to Soft Diet Phase yesterday but when I try to, two bites later I feel as if I'm so full with food up to my throat. Even drinking my Protein shots (only 2.9 oz) I can only drink 1/2 shot at a time. On top of that my stomach sounds like a thunder storm is going on in there. I'm assuming gas :/ Anyone have this issue? If so how did u fix it? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Two weeks of clear liquid ????????????

Omg I thought I was the only one! The smell of the broth reminds me of my puppies food and just turns my stomach. I'm going to have my hubby get me my fav chicken soup at the market and strain it otherwise I won't be able to eat and starve Thank goodness this phase is almost over!
  10. Surgery day has arrived and I have to be at the surgical center in 2 1/2 hours I have a mixed bag of emotions but the main one is excitement to start this new chapter in my life. On the same token, however, I think of my little boy and could only hope I am doing the right thing. I ask that if you pray please send some prayers up for me and if you don't, positive vibes would be appreciated as well. Anyone else getting surgery today best of luck to you! May your surgery be smooth and your healing be speedy!
  11. So I woke up this morning with a stuffy nose and slight headache almost like a head cold. Now I'm nervous my surgery will not happen. Drinking tea, using Vicks vaporub, and airborne every 3 hrs. Not sure if this is a cold or allergies but now I'm freaking out! If they cancel my surgery I'm screwed because my surgeon is booked out until July! :-(

    Surgery is Tuesday now this?!

Thanks everybody! Very true I don't want to cough and sneeze after surgery would be painful. I'm trying everything within the limits and trying to relax. I may have just worked myself up from the anxiety of the surgery.

    Just wanted to introduce myself....

Hi Jessica! I too just joined and have found lots of positive and friendly people that know what this journey entails. We need, especially right before surgery, the reassurance that we are making the right decision. I hope everything goes well and look forward to tagging along on your journey!

    Who is in March?

I know I def need the protein supplements the first month, I just don't want to buy a whole bunch of the same one because I know I'll get sick of it quick. I'm not a big fan of protein shakes after taste. I think that's what bothers me the most. One of the ladies having surgery around the same time as me at the pre-op class mentioned protein shots...anyone know of any good ones that fall within the "guidelines?"

    Who is in March?

Hi, I'm in this Tuesday, March 25th! I'm trying to keep myself mentally calm because I am ready to jump out of my skin ???? . I made sure all of my vitamins and meds were ready as well as my pantry/fridge ready for the first week of surgery. The only thing I didn't "stock-up" on was the protein shakes because I really can't stand them and have a hard time getting them down. I finally settled on Premier Protein at least for a week and maybe something better will come along. Any suggestions on protein shakes/shots?

    T - One Week

Hello Everyone! I am due to get the sleeve next Tuesday, March 25th. Up until the pre-op class I was absolutely fine and excited, NOW, I'm having crazy anxiety! I know this is what is best for me and trust that my surgeon knows what he's doing but I constantly have a person or two say "Are you sure? Why take the easy way out? Why not diet and exercise?" I've been thinking about this for over 2 years and finally decided to pull the trigger the day after Christmas 2013. So I really don't think I am jumping the gun on this one. I know I shouldn't let the nay-Sayers get the best of me but it's difficult. I hope to find more positive vibes and posts thru this forum because I am ready for the new healthier me!
