Hey Sarah:) Thanks for the advice.. I am a frequent hand washer and when not able to wash my hands I use hand sanitizer. I petrified of germs lol.. I have to do a Blood Born Pathogens recert yearly, and just had mine last week.. I always walk out of that class wanting to live in a sterilized bubble.. lol Unfortunately Thursday evening I started coming down with what I thought was allergies... WRONG.... It was the worst head cold ever.. I thought my head was going to explode from the pressure:( I took several meds for it, but not much touched it. Finally I found one that worked, and am feeling much better today:) The nurse at the Bariatric Center told me I was not to take any meds starting 10 days pre op.. Today is the 10 day mark (yay!) So there goes my relief! Hopefully tomorrow I am back to normal.. How is everything going for you? Are you feeling better? I have read a lot recently on the flu epidemic, it is so scary! I hope you are feeling better!! I can't find my list of support groups for March with the dates or new directions, I have to call the office tomorrow.. I hope there is a group this week or the beginning of next, I am really needing some extra support! Anyhoo, I will stop rambling, I really need to get ready for work tomorrow... Hope all is well with you. :)Kerri

Hi formykids:) Sorry about your doc leaving you in the cold.. That must've been so frustrating! I am glad for you that you were able to find help with the Portland folks.. Sounds like you're getting back on track:) Best of luck to you, and keep in touch. :)Kerri

Oh my Sarah, that is terrible! I am sorry:( No fun! Hope you are feeling better! Thanks for the tips.. The Jello with whipped cream sounds yummy!! I'll have to remember that for week1 post op!:rolleyes2: The burger and chicken sound delish too! With induction I usually drop tons of weight, but this time it's just not happening. I am really starting to "grieve" the foods I won't be able to have after surgery.. I really just want to have them just one more time, but also don't want to throw my loss out the window! GAHHHHHHH!! It's never ending! lol.. I went out to eat last Friday and got pizza, and I am going out this Friday to get something else "naughty" to say my goodbyes lol... I am sure this is hindering my weight loss to some extent, but I feel it's better than just pigging out for 2 weeks on all the stuff I won't be able to have:) I asked Krista about the sp. k Water, and she said it was ok, just not alot of Protein, but then we didn't have the nutrition facts in front of us... She thought it was only 3-5g per bottle... It would be great to get water and protein taken care of in one drink! Well, I am on a mission to get ready for work.. lol.. Take care, rest lots and feel better soon!! ~Kerri p.s. Just curious if you got a flu shot this year? A 43 y.o. man just died in Farmington from Influenza and supposedly got a flu shot this year? I have been hearing a lot lately about different strands or strains (lol I don't know which it is).. I got mine, and it surely makes me nervous?! Ok, I am really done rambling.. lol.

Congratulations Newbeginnings!! It is so exciting isn't it? I am getting banded on March 19, and have been waiting a long time as well! I've read on here of the feelings of "stressing over food" referred to as "grieving food". And it is so true.. I didn't have this issue until I got my date.. Maybe because it has finally become a reality?? I am trying to drop some weight before surgery, so I am doing the low carb thing. (no pre-op diet here... ) However, with "grieving food", I just want to experience these few things one more time.. but at the same time, not blow my weight loss so far.. Ughh, it's never ending! lol.. As for a hiatal hernia.. I read on here that they can sometimes cause complications with the band. When I had my final consult with my surgeon I asked him about this. He said it is not very common, but if I wanted, he would stitch it up for me during surgery. I didn't have the measurements of mine, though.. I would definitely ask your surgeon if you haven't already:) Anyhoooo, sorry to ramble on, just wanted to congratulate you, and wish you luck! Come on down to the March 2008 forum, you may find a surgery buddy! :)Kerri p.s. there is a list of stuff to have pre op for your post op here- Sorry, I don't know how to just grab the link for you:) Go to home page 4 forums down "Lapband Surgery FAQ'S and References" 7 threads down "post op list"

Hi Marchers! I was able to find the calendar on the home page, but can't figure out how to put my date in? Has anyone done this yet? I am set for March 19, and saw someones idea for everyone to put their dates up.. I think it's a wonderful idea, however I just can't figure it out.. Or remember where I read the idea.. lol.. Thanks for the help! ~Kerri

Hi texgirl, and congrats to you! How exciting:) I am right behind you, and will be banded on the 19.. Make sure to check out the March 08 thread, you will probably find others with the same date! Best of luck to you! :)Kerri

Ahhhh man!! I wish I would have stayed after that meeting! I thought that could have been you, but didn't want to randomly go up to someone and say "Hi, are you Sarah?" lol... Plus I had to get right back to work.. I was really hoping to get out of work last Thursday for group. It was Protein, protein, protein, and they were going to be sampling Protein drinks.. I still haven't found one I like, and I'm getting down to the wire. I so wish we had a GNC around here.. Unfortunately all there is is Wal Mart.. GAHHH!!! I can't believe you are down 20lbs! I am so jealous! I've been sticking to the induction phase of Atkins for 2 weeks now, and I am only down 8.5lbs. I really wanted to lose at least 20 before surgery:( Are you following a certain plan?? Whatever you're doing, keep up the good work! It's less you'll have to worry about in the long run:) As for insurance, I've read on this site that they have to go with you're starting weight from first consult.. If there are any issues Lynn the insurance lady knows how to straighten things out:) If you're concerned I would just call the office and ask to talk to her.. She knows her stuff! Good luck! Kerri p.s. 17days and counting.. I am sooo psyched!

Hello everyone!:smile2: I just wanted to share that I am waiting for a surgery date, and going out of my mind... It seems like everyone else gets their date so much earlier in the game? Maybe it's just me being antsy.. After the psych eval, 3 nutritionist appts, and 3 support groups you then have to give the $500 non-refundable program fee.. THEN, you see the fitness guy twice, then the nurse, have final consult with the surgeon, THEN they submit for a date.. Then, you wait a week for that date which is STILL 3-5 weeks out.. Wouldn't they think that after you give them the $500 that you were serious about this and they could submit for a date then?! GGAAAAHHHHHHHH!! I have been sooo patient with this (almost) 8 month process.. I just can't take it anymore.. I just want to scream! Thanks for hearing me out.. tee hee hee.. I feel a bit better now..:biggrin2: ~Kerri
