  1. I'm not the expert by any means but it may be possible that you are not totally healed as of yet and may still have some swelling at this point? Good luck.

    Sleeved and not felt "full"

Are you on liquids or mushies at this stage? Everyone has a different post-op schedule so I'm not sure what consistency of food you are eating. If it is on the thinner side you may not get that "full" feeling until you reach the soft food stage or beyond. Hang in there!

    New nutritionist?

The only thing I know is that I should eat or drink protein after my workout to help with muscle repair/growth after my workout and I learned that from my trainer. Maybe look for a source that has knowledge about nutrition and weight training? Good luck!

    Heart medication just for surgery?

I would give their office a call or the NP and ask why they want you to take it. Is it part of their protocol or for some other reason? I would think an explanation is in order if for no other reason so make sure they didn't mix you up with someone else.

    Fluids

Hi Kandis, I'm with you on the straight Water thing. I'm not sure why but I have heard several people talk about not being able to tolerate plain water. I've heard several explanations including one regarding the surface tension of water being higher unless you add something to it etc etc. But as long as you stay hydrated it really doesn't matter. I drank G2 for a long time. Now I drink water with a squirt of the sugar free Kool-aid liquid in it. Helps me drink it down a lot faster than just the plain water. There are a number of the water additives. Maybe some of them might appeal to you more than what you are doing now? Good luck!

    Raving about Graham Elliot

I adore Graham Elliot and I think he is a great role model for WLS. I think it is so cool that he replied! I am currently watching Master Chef and I think he is amazing.

When does the hair loss stop?

Hang in there Nit4life, I too have thin hair and like you I also had a double whammy. I had emergency surgery 2 months prior to my sleeve surgery so I started losing hair quickly at about the second month after my sleeve surgery and it stopped between months 4 and 5. I lost a lot around my face and the rest is even thinner. I do think that after I started taking the Biotin the regrowth started moving faster. Not only that but my nails are growing faster too! Our bodies are all so different and handle stress in different ways. Good luck!

Over 400Lbs Gastric Sleeve Success Story

Hi Jen! I was thinking the same thing last Friday but didn't get a chance to post. Did everybody have a good 3 day weekend? I go to my 6 month appointment on Friday. On one hand it doesn't seem like it has been that long and on the other it seems like forever....does that make sense? I'm right on the verge of halfway to my goal. Hope everyone is powering forward!

    No excuses. Just need help.

Look at you go! YAY you!! I'm so glad you are feeling the mojo and feel better. We all hit a bump in the road and need our friends to help us up. I'm late to the party here but I wanted to add that I give you kudos for posting your struggle. There are so many who are benefitting from the support and advice you are getting on this thread who are/were also struggling who weren't able to bring themselves to ask for help. Again...YAY you!!!

  13. While I was in the losing hair hand over fist phase my hair dresser wouldn't touch my hair with any chemicals with a ten foot pole. But when it stopped, after a few weeks we slapped some color on it (about 3 weeks ago) and no ramifications. I'm looking forward to my first perm this coming tuesday!

    Visit With Your Surgeon?

Same for me. The protocol here is that you only meet the surgeon once although he did pop in when I was in preop immediately before the actual surgery. I saw the NUT, the nurse practitioner and the coordinating nurse, insurance specialist, and of course I went to the seminar prior to my surgery. Post op my followups are all with his nurse practitioner and I've had no complications so I've not seen him again. And like Bufflehead, my surgeon was chosen with great scrutiny. I too was ok with only seeing him once. I had a LOT of questions written out and he patiently answered each and every one of them.

    Pre-op Class?

I do not remember if I had to pay a copay for that class or not but I was not charged for it other than that if I did. I think you should have been informed if you were going to be charged. Especially if it was not a one on one class? There were three of us when I went to mine. We were all scheduled for the same surgery date.
  16. I think it would be important to know why they don't want you to use a straw? My doc had no such restriction and it sure does help get that fluid down!

    Breakfast at work

Yogurt is a good option and I hear ya about the eggs unless you like hard boiled eggs. I usually do a premier protein shake or sugar free carnation instant breakfast and skim milk. Good luck!
