    Sorry for having to ask!

They sent me home on an iron supplement. Not only did it give me diarrhea but it was black! They should warn a girl about such things! They let me stop the supplement but at 6 weeks out I'm still what you would call "loose". Most likely from the whey protein. Hang in there!

    Episodic pain....gas?

Hello all, I'm 6 weeks out and this afternoon evening for the first time I'm having some episodic pain. I'm wondering if it's gas? I tried something new at lunch this afternoon. I just chewed a gas x. I'm afraid to eat anything else. I'm drinking and that seems to maybe add a little more discomfort than usual but now I'm being super sensitive to how everything feels. What does it feel like if you don't chew something well enough and it gets stuck? I'm just trying to cover all my bases. The pain comes in waves that only last a few seconds and they are right where my stomach is and across both ways a little ways. Maybe I found something I can't tolerate? Suggestions?

    Episodic pain....gas?

Thanks everyone, it has gotten better so I'm very thankful. I am going to pay attention to what I eat prior to it flaring up in the future. I'm happy to avoid whatever it is! And no, no gall bladder on board!

    Low Carb or not....

Yeah....when I was dieting the general rule of thumb was 130 grams carbs because that is what it takes for normal brain function. But I was expected to get them in fruits and veggies. Harder to do that when you are sleeved. I mentioned before that I'm not expected to count them ( like I have room for them to begin with) but I am early in my journey.

    Low Carb or not....

I haven't thought about carbs at all. I'm still trying to get all my protein in...80 grams. By the time I eat my protein I'm full! I'm wondering when I will have enough room for extras......I imagine it won't be for a while.

    Episodic pain....gas?

Seems a couple hours later they started back up. Seems it only happens when my sleeve is empty? Anyone else experience this?

    Episodic pain....gas?

So.......a half an hour ago I ate a scrambled egg. No pain since I ate. Hunger pangs??!! I'm such a dork.......

    Episodic pain....gas?

Yeah.....won't be trying it again soon, that's for sure. At this point my stomach may hurt simply because I haven't eaten in the last 8 hours lol

    Episodic pain....gas?

Mollz, I am concentrating on getting 80 grams of protein and am trying to get as much through real food as possible which means my meat consumption has increased. I ate some beef for lunch ( I usually eat fish and chicken) and it was seasoned with Mexican seasoning.

    Episodic pain....gas?

I have been upgraded to regular food from soft food which was pretty much still almost purée consistency for me other than scrambled eggs because I was afraid.....so pretty much everything is new....at least texture wise. Thanks for your well wishes
  16. Honestly, I think people notice long before they say anything. I think they wait until it's pretty obvious before they say anything. I think they consider it safer that way.

    How to figure out protein

Others who are at your bmi might have input but my first thought after reading your post was to call. Call the dietitian or nurse practitioner on your team and ask. I right now I'm trying to get 80 grams in a day! Lol

    Why Can't I Lose Weight?

Congrats on your 50 lbs gone! You said that sometimes you don't eat. Eating less is not always the key. My nurse practitioner stresses the 5 small meals a day and protein protein protein! We have to keep that metabolism going I guess. Good luck!

    Protein Drinks

Hrhlaurie, I went for a follow up today with the nurse practitioner. I'm 5 weeks out now and starting regular food. Even though everything I eat is protein I'm still not getting in enough protein! She told me that it is common for people to supplement with the protein powder or ready made protein drinks for 6 months or better.
