  1. I must be different because: I used to smoke and quit cold turkey...No problem I used to drink and quit the same way I used to eat a lot and quit that pre-banding and havent gone back to any of my old habits. Like I said, I must be different.
  2. Salsa, that sounds good. I'm on the liquid and mushie thing too and I almost enjoy chicken broth...LOL
  3. I havent tried them, but the choclate whey protein from walmart is real good. I drink at least one per day with skim milk and get all the protein I need. Just watch out for the other things in some of the protein shakes. many are real high in carbs and sugars.

    Just had 1st fill...

My dr requires a day of liquids and then a day of mushies after each fill. After the third fill, I went 2 days of liquid since I got quite a fill.
  5. Salsa, if you are able to stay hydrated and are able to eat some, I think I would wait a week and see what happens. Just be sure you are careful not to PB or anything. I met someone today that could not even sip water because her band was too tight. She got a small unfill. Maybe stay on the mushies for a little while to see if everything works out. Let us know....Dave

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

I'm joining the 100 club. Weighed in at the dr's office this morning for my fill, and the total lost was.......drumroll.....101:D:D:D

    How long until mushies?

Mine was 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks mushies, 1 week soft foods and then regular stuff. Also, 1 day of liquids and 1 day of mushies after each fill

    Going for another fill

Back from the fill doctor and she added a little more. She could only get 8.4 out instead of 9, so its now up to 9.6cc's And the good news is my scale is off since I moved it and I have made my 100 lb mark:whoo::whoo::whoo::clap2::clap2:
  9. I try to stay around 1000 calories per day, walk 3-5 miles every morning, spend 40-60 minutes on weight training or exercise bike and am losing very well. Make sure you get in ALL of your liquids, vary your diet and make sure the calories you consume are good foods. 1000 calories of junk food still adds weight, but the same in good food will show results.

    Forbidden?

I wasnt told anything was forbidden, but was told to avoid any carbonated drinks, soft breads, popcorn, rice, gum, corn, fibrous foods like oranges, mangos, grapefruit. Other than that, its all ok, but I do stick to a fairly regimented meal plan to get the protein in first.

1st fill tomorrow, SOOO scared !!

I;m going for number 4 tday and really havent felt the needle in the other 3. It is so fine and not in an area of many nerves, so you will be ok. My first fill didnt do much either, so dont get discouraged. Some people on here got decent restriction right away from the first one. Post up with your story after you have gotten filled and let us know how you did.

    Going for another fill

Stacey, Thanks, its been a little rough over the holidays for me too. I'm back on track now with the Protein shakes and exercise again. I'm pushing hard to get to the 100 lb lost mark, one of my goals. Looking at your ticker, you are doing great too. I'm gonna ask for another 2cc's tomorrow and see if she will let me have it.

    January Exercise Challenge

Another day of walking done. 3.4 miles in the nice morning air. Gonna hit the home gym later today for some weight training and ab workout.
  16. Mine had been getting tighter about 2 weeks after a fill, until my last fill. I am going in the beginning of the week, since I feel no restriction like I had. I still think these bands are posessed and have a mind of thier owm...LOL

    I have some questions...

The feeling is like pressure in your chest. It does not block your ability to breath or anything, but can be somewhat painful. The times I have gotten stuck only lasted a few minutes. I have not had any bread, other than toasted pita since my surgery. That was one of the things my dr said to give up. Soft bread can ball up and cause you to get stuck real easy. Any dry foods, like chicken, Cereal and stuff like that can easily cause you to get stuck too. Some people are able to tolerate any foods, but i am not one of them. What one person has found to be good may not work for others, so it will be a learning process for a while.

    January Exercise Challenge

Heaing out now for some more walking. Lets see if doing the weight training before walking works. Gotta change it up a little to keep from getting bored. PS For us in Florida, this 36 degree weather is cold..BRRRRRRR

    January Exercise Challenge

Thanks for starting a January challenge I am going to add some more gym work to mine for this month and see what happens. The nice thing about the boat that i work on is we have a decent gym, exercise bike and my old treadmill there, so I can keep it going even when at work.

    Hi from Heather

I walk 5-6 times per week for an average of 4-5 miles each day. Then I spend 45-60 minutes in the gym doing resistance training ( curls, lats, leg press. etc. www.bodyforlife has great tips and a good workout plan I try to get 30 minutes each night on the exercise bike while watching tv, but sometimes miss this part. I had surgery on my knee 4 years ago due to torn miniscus and bone damage, so it does hurt at times.

    Hi from Heather

Heather, Thanks. It is by far the best decision I have made. I have no regrets since being banded, other than not getting it done sooner. Right up until the day of my surgery, I was not sure if I could go thru with it, but am glad I did. I did'nt find this site till after being banded, so any questions I had went unanswered, unless my dr answered them. She was awesome by the way.

    Hi from Heather

Heather, Welcome to LBT... I skipped going out for meals until I was back on solid foods. Now, I just order an appetizer off the menu and have no problem finding good things to eat. I went around to many local places and got thier menu's so i knew what they had before gong in and worrying about it. Good luck, the waiting game has begun....

    Year-end wrap-up - how did you do?

I survived thew holidays pretty good and am happy with m band. I was banded on Aug 30th and so far, 94 lbs are gone, gone for good. Off most of my meds, no more high BP or cholesterol. I'm pushing for my final weigh in goal for the end of March. Did I say that I love my band????
