Thanks, I am very much a beginner, but it is a real workout. I have heard of calorie burn of 500-700 per hour of riding at a moderate pace. Make33, I do have a helmet and padded gloves, so my first spill wasnt much at all. Gotta watch out for the drainage ditch at the end of the driveway...LOL

Way to go Candle. You are truly an inspiration for all of us..:tea::thumbup: -
Its getting closer. I have a little less than 50 to go to make my goal. I cant wait.:smile2::smile2: Seems like the weight is slowing down a little, so I need to mix up my meals and exercise some to kickstart it again.

8 miles on the bridge today and 1.5 hrs in the gym last night. I have realized its time for some new shoes since I have all but worn these out...LOL

Congrats on the banding. The walking really helps a lot. Glad to hear you are feeling ok. Now, let the band heal itself in place and get ready for the journey of a lifetime

Lap Band Veterans, Please Reply...
Dave01 replied to TxChelsey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TxChelsey, welcome to the site. As far as your question, the band is a tool that will help you in controlling overeating. Relying on it to stop you from overeating isnt good. It can lead to problems later on down the line. Once I got banded, I was afraid to eat much because of fear of damaging the band and having to have surgery again. It is a good tool to help you though. I have had a few episodes of overdoing it, but when I do, I get right back on track to keep the weight loss going. Good luck with your choice...Dave -
Wow, those are some great plans. Makes mine seem lame in comparison...
-
Wow, glad to see so many others close to thier goals. Now the big question is......... What will you do when you reach your goal? As for me, our local bariartic group has a cruise later in the year for patients of Dr. Jessee, so that will be my reward to myself. I cant wait...:thumbup:

Back on the bandwagon again. 3 days done so far for the month. Today was fill day, so I took it a little easy with the walking this morning. Hope everyone else is on track.....Dave Oh, and another lb gone...WOOOHOOO

TexasBecky and Who... Thanks, Its great to be back. I work on an ocean going tug and barge thats 630 ft long. We have a gym, treadmill and stationary bike, so workouts are easy. Went to the bridge for a 10 mile walk this morning to keep up with you all.

You all are doing great. I've been out on the boat for a month, but managed to get in a workout each day, but not as much walking as I like to. Back home for a month now so back to the walking I go. Boy did I miss this place while at work........

I am hooked on salmon too. That and tilapia. Broiled, baked and smoked....great band food

Just had 1st fill, how soon until the next one?
Dave01 replied to AudricIan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After my last fill, I had no restriction for a week, then it really started to work. Anyone is lucky to get restriction that lasts after just one fill. I'm on # 4 and it comes and goes. Maybe # 5 will be the good one. Also, my dr requires a 3 week wait between fills. -
Its been one week since my last fill, and my restriction just kicked in today. And boy did it kick in. 2 spoonfulls of beans and 1.5 slices of gyro meat and my hiccups started. Man was I happy. Go scale go...time for you to move again.

i went to the store today to buy some jeans. Last ones I bought were 48X30's. Today, my new size is 38X30 and they arent even tight!!!. Mn that really made my day Now I am only 6 inches away from my goal size...
-
I love shopping now, since I can stay away from the "extended sizes 2 dollars more" signs. After pulling the belt as tight as I could, thats when I realized its time for new clothes. Wierd, but the scale has slowed but my pant sizes are still dropping.

I have to agree. I have been relying on willpower most of the time and it has really worked, but sometimes I feel like I may slip up soon.

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
Dave01 replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Salsa, Glad to hear you are doing better. That is some doctor you have !!!. Not many would call thier patients during the week, much less on the weekend. Its nice to hear good stories about our doctors and not just the bad ones that most people post. -
Back from another day on the bridge. Really windy so I dropped down to 4.8 miles for this walk. Hope everyone is doing good......Dave
-
Frangipani, Salsa and Becky, You all are doing great. So many situps, secluded beach walks and a new exercise class really shows commitment on your part. Keep it up. Its gonna be a great year.

question about the steri strips....
Dave01 replied to ch4251's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine lasted about a week and a half and then they started coming off. 2 stayed so I soaked them a little and they came off too. -
Eat anything I want after ONE week of getting Lapband?
Dave01 replied to Laurinda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Laurinda, I realize all doctors have thier own recovery diet, but that one seems like you are going to go to solids way too quick. Your stomach may not have proper time to heal. It still amazes me that there are so many different diet plans these doctors are having people follow. -
Back from the walking. It was pretty crowded today. Backed down to 6 miles though because I didnt want to be too sore to go tomorrow. Got a new walking partner that I met and she goes out there every morning, so that will make it nicer.

What is everyone eating on a typical day?
Dave01 replied to Fastpitch Mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Melissa, Here is my average daily meal plan. Its kinda boring, but it keeps me filled up. Breakfast: Protein shake w a snack size yogurt blended in Lunch: My big meal usually a 4 oz can of tuna or chicken mixed w/ FF mayo, diced onion and celery. Steamed veggie, usually cauliflower Dinner: Either a shake or snack size applesauce and snack size FF cottage cheese On days I want to really cook, I make 4 oz of Tilapia or Salmon and 1/2 baked potato -
HELP It's just 7 days since I was banded and..
Dave01 replied to imb316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CJV, Glad to hear you are doing good. You really do have the right idea. The early banding days are the time to make sure you heal well, and not the time to worry about weight loss. It will come on its own. I really went thru a lot of SF popsicles in the first week. That and lots of chicken broth....
