I swallowed a small piece of gum

Good luck, I have looked at other sites and didn't see any posts on how to get the gum to go down. This was one of the things my dr told me about and I have come close to chewing some, but caught myself.

    On my way!!!

Glad to hear everything is working out for you. I have had my band 28 days today and it has not been bad. Just getting used to not drinking with my meal is all. Good luck getting the required stuff done, the time will o by quickly.....Dave
  5. It was a requirement of my Dr. I found out I have obstructive sleep anpea and now have a cpap machine. They willl hook all kinds of wires up to you and have you spend a night under suoervision. It reads oxy level, type of sleep and a lot of other technical stuff. Good luck, Dave

    Banded Bikers II

Finally rolled the bike out last night. I really missed riding. Sorry, its not a cruiser, but an 01 Hayabusa. I live part of the year in Franklin NC and run 129, the Dragon, a lot. Would be cool to have a meet up there with fellow bandsters. Take care, enjoy the good weather....Dave

    I need help finding protein!!

Yep. Buy the powdered non flavored protein and you can mix it with just about any food. Plus the Whey protein shakes ( flavored) are a good source when used for meal substitutes. I get mine either from GNC or Wallyworld. Hope this helps....Dave

    Carbonated Drinks

All dr's will tell you something different. My rules were no carbonated drinks unless I open them and let them go flat....YUUUCCCCHHH. I was a confirmedsoda fiend, averaging 8-10 cans per day and have not had one in 2 months and the craving is gone. Thank god for crystal light. I take the to-go packs with me if I go to out to dinner and just ask for water. You should see the look from the waitress when she cant remember what I drank when its time for a refill....LOL

    New to lapbandtalk

Welcome to the group and congrats on your banding date. My liquids were mainly broth and SF jello. Hard to believe, but you really do get used to it....Dave
  12. The Whey Protein drink from Walmart ( Body Fortress) is pretty good for 2 meal substitutes. It comes in a few flavors and has 23g protein, 2g carbs, 2g total fat when mixed with water. Use skim milk ( 6oz) and the numbers are better. I used this for bfast and dinner and then for lunch had either chicken, turkey or beef broth. Sugar-free jello was a good snack, along with SF Popsicles. Plus this helped me get used to what my Dr. uses for a post-op 2 week diet. Start practicing not drinking with meals now and that will also help......Dave
  13. BR: 6 oz skim milk w/w 1 scoop of whey Protein L: 3 to 4 oz chicken broth, Egg drop Soup or pureed Healthy Request clam chowder D: same as Breakfast but with 2 frozen strawberries added before blending. Maybe 2 FF popsicles for Snacks and at least 64 oz of water/crystal light I start soft foods tomorrow, but may stick with this for a while longer...Dave

    Hi, IM new

Sara, welcome to the group. My dr's rule on drinking is not for 30 min prior to eating and not till 45 min after. What happens is the liquid flushes out your newer, smaller stomach and then you will be hungry again. It took me a while to get used to this, but now it doesn't bother me at all. Good Luck, Dave
  16. I had the Protein shake 2 weeks prior to banding, then: 2 weeks liquids 2 weeks mushies 1 week soft solids ( fish, stuff like that) then solid food Even though I am almost done with mushies, I find myself eating Soups still. I guess I got used to them....LOL

    Eating too much?

Wow,My dr had me on 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks mushies ( about to end) then soft food for a week. After that it will be regular food, but in small amounts. Not sure why there are so many different choices that the dr's use, but I am sticking to my strict one....Dave
  18. Good luck with the surgery. It goes by real fast.Post up any questions you come up with. If you are ike most of us, there will be many...Dave

Eating too much or too fast?

Christie, wow Oct 9th for your fill. You will beat me by 6 days. Get ready for the questions once you have yours...LOL I cant wait. My loss has slowed too, but down 44 lbs so far isnt too bad, and only 10 of that was pre-op. Take care...Dave

    Central Florida Lapbandsters?

Lou, Where are you getting your surgery done? Also, Please let me know what you have been told about your after-op diet ( liquids, pureed?). Mine was full liquids the day after surgery for 2 weeks, pureed for 2 weeks, soft cooked for one week then normal meals. Walmart has a whey protein powder, choclate, that is pretty good. 2 of these a day with one meal has worked real good for me, with no hunger at all. Take care, Dave
  22. Thats good news for you. Glad to hear the band is doing its job.....Dave
  23. Dave01

Eating too much or too fast?

Christie, I could get about 6 oz of Soup in too, but stuck with the 4 oz portions to be safe. I've heard you could eat a lot when the swelling went down. So, how are you doing with the liquids, or are you on mushies already? Dont worry about stretching the band/stomach. Until we get fills, its mostly willpower.....Dave
  24. Dave01

    Central Florida Lapbandsters?

And doing great. 3 more days of mushies then on to soft food for a week. Just checking in with all the other locals to see how they are doing....Dave

    HElp HElp Help

I was a wreck just before my surgery date. I started on my liquids real early, just in case I slipped up. Be real honest with your dr. It will only help in the end and will help with your overall reults with the band. I dont have any real cravings and its been 25 days since my banding. Still on mushies, but only for 3 more days. Read all of the good stories on this site. It will help you remember why you are doing it and give you support........Dave
