October 15 will be my first fill. I cant wait. I've been doing good without one, making sure I only eat one small meal per day and 2 protein shakes, but it would be nice to feel the band working on my stomach, not just my mind...LOL

About time I joined up Name: Dave Exercise Goals: 3-4 mile daily walk, weight training 4 times per week, 45 min nightly bike ride (stationary)

The nausea will go away. Mine lasted about 10 days then disappeared. I figured it was from the drastic change in diet that all of us have done. Give it a little more time, then you will wake up feeling great.....Dave

Does the sipping ever end!!! and other reasons to compain.
Dave01 replied to sweetspot021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My water bottle is with me all day and sitting by the bed at night. The sipping/slow drinking will go on, according to my dr. I have one of those cup warmers that you set cups on for keeping soup warm. They work good. I think it came from walmart. I manage about 120 oz of liquid per day and that takes care of most hunger. 12 days till my first fill....Dave -
Mandi, You probably wont get a full feeling while on liquids. I never did, but I kept my "meals" to 4-5 oz each. I did a protein shake for breakfast, broth for lunch and dinner. And lots of water. Plus a sugarfree popsicle here and there helped. The liquid just runs thru the band. I am 31 days out and have not experienced bandster hell yet. LOL

I have been hitting my home setup pretty hard since surgery. Here is my setup. A brutus 655 home gym with leg press, butterfly attachment, crunch bar, rowing machine and cable bars, along with a Proform rebel recumbent bike/elliptical trainer. Had to knock the dust off it , but now its getting some use

Being Lap Banded on Thursday
Dave01 replied to lizzie10's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Its getting close. I found that after surgery, get out of the house as much as possible. I now know every aisle in Walmart, Target and Lowes. Plus the walking helps with the gas pain. And sip as much liquid as you can. -
Congrats on the band date. I got a headache, but I think it was from stopping soda and no more caffeine. Good luck, the time will go by quickly...Dave

My banding was Aug 30, so I am close to a Sept person...LOL So far 49 lbs gone. Cant wait to weigh in tomorrow. I might have made the big 50 gone by then. Lots of walking and Protein shakes. And my new favorie, grilled Tilapia w/ steamed cauliflower...YUUUMMMM

I did a short ride 3 weeks after surgery, but it was on a sport bike. Then I parked it and am waiting for a while. Not real comfortable for me. Maybe on a cruiser though

Hope these answers help....Dave

What does the days after the surgery look like?
Dave01 replied to cookielover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On the way home from the hospital, we stopped at Walmart and according to the pedometer, I walked about 1.5 miles. I found that walking helped with the gas pains and made me tired so I could sleep at night. As far as the bed, I also found the recliner was better for the first 4 days. It was easier than climbing out of bed. Take it a little easy since you wont have a lot of energy while on the liquid diet. ...Dave -
My Introduction being Banded in 10 days
Dave01 replied to riseandfall9's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Brian, Welcome to the group. Congrats on your banding date. This site is awesome to read and find many answers to your questions.....Dave -
Just got approved - now I'm not sure what to do
Dave01 replied to EricCharbonneau's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Eric, I have done the same as you in the past. Went and did the Body for Life 12 week challenge, lost 58 lbs, back it came. Did the Atkins mess, same thing. It kept coming back, and sometimes brought friends. If you are truly serious about a lifetime result, the band is awesome. I am 46 and it took me this many years to decide to live healthier. Just my opinion, but the band was my only choice for long-term results. Good luck with your choice.....Dave -
Guess this makes me the "new kid" huh?
Dave01 replied to jennibee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome New Kid...... Glad you found the site. It has realy helped me since my surgery. Its really nice to hear other opinions on stuff and to hear thier progress. Congrats on your progress. I only wish I had done this sooner and found this site before I had mine. Good luck, the journey has begun....Dave -
WOW, cant believe a whole month has gone by since I got my new friend. Its been a great trip so far. And somewhere along the way, 48 lbs were left behind...LOL:whoo::whoo: I truly can say that any cravings for soda's, and fast food are gone, since I stopped them one month pre-op, just to get ready. Thanks to everyone on here for all of the support and kind words. It really made the first month much easier knowing I was not the only one going thru this:welldoneclap::rose:

Stacy, Thanks and congrats to you on the 35 lbs. My new way of looking at weight loss is to go to the grocery store and look at 5lb bags of potatoes and add up how many I have lost. I know its not the same, but it eally keeps my spirit up. Yes, this is the best thing I have done for myself. I get my first fill in 15 days and cant wait. Maybe I am diffrent, but I have not felt hungry once, even with the small diet I have been eating. Thank god for protein shakes...LOL Keep it up, Take Care....Dave

Started last week on my bowflex. And all this time I thought it was a clothes hanger. Nothing too tough yet, just upper body ( tri/bi/chest) and some leg lifts/calf raises. So far so good. I find its easier than going to a gym and I have my choice of music. I did up my protein intake back to 2 shakes per day, with an extra 1/2 scoop in each, and lowered my food to one meal, usually grilled Tilapia/salmon.

Banded on 9/24, Uhgg is it worth it?
Dave01 replied to kbear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES it is worth it. Tomorrow I will be one month out. The 2 weeks of liquids were not bad at all. Lots of meals of chicken broth or beef broth. Mushies for the last 2 weeks so blended clam chowder ( healthy choice) was a nice addition. Keep a positive attitude, drink a whole lot more water than required and dont forget your protein shakes. You can do it....Dave -
Welcome to the group. I got my band 8/30 and am loving it. Only a few of my closest friends know what I have done, but quite a few people have commented on the loss so far. I just tell them that walking, stopping sodas and eating better quality food ( no more drive-thru's) really works. So far so ood. Good luck with your journey....Dave

Drinking so much water, bathroom 24/7
Dave01 replied to gracie44's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was like that for the first week, but it has calmed down now. Heck, I was thinking of moving in there since I went so much...LOL -
Were you hungry the day of surgery?
Dave01 replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After surgery, the last thing I wanted was food. I was very thirsty though and the nurse was eal good about keeping my water pitcher full. I think I had about 2 of the little jello squares but that was it .....Dave -
Wow, one week then right to solid food? That sounds too quick to me, but I am not a doctor. From everything I have read and been told, the first month is when the band seats itself and that is why we do the easy foods, to keep it from moving too much. Mine was 2 weeks of liquid and mushies, but yesterday was my first day of soft food. I was still kinda nervous, so I took it real easy and still did the shake/soup thing, but added a south beach breakfast wrap ( half of one) for breakfast.

Had band fitted 3 days ago and feeling a bit worried.....
Dave01 replied to Chelle 1968's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chelle, first of all, congrats on being banded. And yes, what you are feeling is normal. Part of th feeling of the "brick" is our minds playing tricks on us since we know we have something new in there. I never had a feeling of being full when on liquids or mushies, but quit eating after 3-4 oz meals and protein shakes. I have not had my first fill yet,but once the fills start, thats when you will feel the band really working. Right now, your stomach is healing and getting used to the band.Walking helped me with the healing, along with protein shakes. Good Luck, hope this helped.....Dave -
Welcome to the group. You are right. This plac is awesome for information and suggestions. Congrats on your choice to get the band. Mine is still real new and I have been real happy with it so far...Dave
