    Wanting icecream

At 8 months post-op, I still can't do ice cream. It causes me to vomit - so I simply avoid it!
  2. I was told no carbonated beverages ever. I was also told no popcorn for at least one year.
  3. I am 8 months post op and have only told 2 people about my surgery (my husband and my child). I decided that I didn't want to tell anyone else, including any other immediate family. I am currently down 121 pounds, and when people comment on my weight loss, I am honest with them. I tell them that I am eating less and moving more and that I am making smarter, healthier choices with my food. None of which is a lie - I simply leave out the part about my surgery. The surgery is simply a tool in your journey and you are still the one doing the hard work. Good luck on your journey - and remember, you don't have to tell anyone that you don't want to tell.

    Protein two years out

I was also instructed to consume 80-100 grams of Protein for life - but have found it almost impossible. I am 8 months post op and have found that the only way I can come anywhere close to that amount is to add an unjury shake to my daily routine. It is 29 grams of protein for 8 oz. I also do high-protein Snacks such as greek yogurt (12 grams each). My tiny little pouch restricts me too much to actually hit my protein goal without adding the shake though.

    OVER 300 lbs

I began my journey at 340 pounds, and am now 8 months post op. This morning, I weighed in at 219 pounds. It seems really slow to me, but in the big picture, I am losing about 10 pounds per month. I can't wait to hit goal - hopefully some time next spring!
  6. Today, my family went to a theme park, and I decided to give it a try and see if I could fit into one of the rides since I have lost 75+ lbs. While I was in line, there were multiple people that tried to ride only to be forced off the ride when the safety harness wouldn't come down far enough on them. I was extremely nervous that the same thing would happen to me. But, when it was my turn to board the ride, I fit!!!!! Such a great NSV for me!!!!
  7. I have been using Nivea Firming lotion for the past 2 weeks - I honestly can't tell a difference at all! Hopefully time and exercise will help with some of the extra skin!

    Corn?

My nutritionist said I am not allowed to try corn until 6 months post op.

    Caloric and protein intake

My surgeon and nutritionist recommends at least 4 small meals a day. So, I do a shake for breakfast, then 3 small high-protein meals each day.

    March 2014 Sleevers

Just checking in! Surgery was 3/26 (2 months tomorrow) and I am down 30 pounds since surgery. It seems so slow and I am really struggling with not feeling disappointment. However, I try to look at the overall picture. I have lost a total of 70 pounds since beginning my journey. I am down 4 pant sizes. I can actually walk 3 miles without feeling like I am going to die. I am officially off of my blood pressure medicine. I am signed up to do a 5k next month. I am on the road to a healthy life - I am just trying to remember that it is a marathon, not a sprint!

    Blurred vision

Did they put one if those motion sickness patches behind your ear at the hospital? They did me, and I'm told that is one of the reasons why my vision is blurred. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and it's getting better.

    6 month supervised diet

Those six months will fly by! Seems like I just started the process, but I'm already almost a month post-op!
  13. I am just a couple of days away from moving from liquids to the purée/soft food phase. I've seen hundreds of recipes in preparation for this next phase. My question is - what was everyone's first meal?

    advice please

I only told my husband and my 18 year old daughter. At the last minute, I called my mother and mother in law and told them that I was having a laparoscopic surgery to remove an unneeded body part. They asked questions but I didn't answer them. I am 3 weeks post op now and I still haven't told anyone else! Luckily my husband and daughter are completely supportive!!
  15. Today is day 12 of my preop liquid diet, and it's actually been a lot easier than I thought it would be. Tonight, I tried to eat some creamy Soup (made with skim milk), but found that I couldn't eat it all. My stomach felt extremely full. Is this normal? Does your stomach shrink significantly during preop?
  16. My surgery is Wednesday too! I am planning to go back to work on 4/7.

    Telling the family?!?

You could always say "I'm just having an un-needed body part removed". That's a good idea. Maybe I will do that too. Having a little laparoscopic surgery. It would be super hard not to tell them once they started firing off all those questions. I'm trying to think of a bogus surgery to tell them I'm having.

    Day one liquid diet

Is it any better for you? I am on day 9, and it has definitely got much easier for me. I can now actually sit at the table with my hubby and have some Soup while he eats his dinner.

    Telling the family?!?

I made a decision to only tell my husband and my daughter about my sleeve. I didn't want to keep my mom and mother-in-law in the dark completely, so I just told them that I'm having to have a little laparoscopic surgery next week, but everything is fine. Of course, my mom immediately started firing off questions to which I dodged. I simply told her that I was originally not going to tell her about the surgery at all, but decided to do it as a courtesy, and I wouldn't be answering any more questions. She finally got the message and said to have my hubby let her know when I'm in surgery and when I'm out. I may eventually tell them, but not right now.

    Who is in March?

My sleeve is scheduled for next week (3/26). I am on day 8 of my liquid diet. I have tried several different types of protein drinks. Boost Glucose Control, Unjury, EAS, etc. But, today, I tried Chike Banana, and it was DELICIOUS!
  21. I believe Boost Glucose Control and Boost Calorie Smart are both Lactose free.
  22. My date is March 26th, and I can't wait!!!!
