    Question on scars....

I usually have the same conversation with my scale every week. When I step on it the first time I curse at it and tell it how wrong it is then step on it again. It must agree with me because it weighs me 5lbs lighter the second time.
  7. gadgetlady, E-docs are fine with me. As long as they get me and hubby on the cruise <s>
  8. 97 Days 4 Hours 13 minutes !!!!!!!!!
  9. Hi Colleen Congratulations. I went throught the same doubts the day before my banding. You just have to trust that you are doing the right thing for yourself. Be excited that all your planning and hard work are coming to point you have been wishing for. Good luck and let us hear from you
  10. Jenna, You rock that bikini, You deservit it. I am not quite brave enough yet but Im getting there. Are there any planed excursions?? I know there are quite a few we can sign up for. That would be a blast.
  11. I am just so excited about going. This is going to be a blast.
  12. You may want to find another dr to talk to. The last time I saw my dr he had just come back from a bariatric simanar where other dr's were discussing the possibility of RNY patients that have regaind their weight could get a lap band over the RNY. Continue your research. Find the way thats right for you.
  13. I would say your ok, just let them know when you go check in for surgery that you are alrady on them. My dr put me on antibiotics after my surgery to ward off any infections.

    EVIL comes in many forms....

I am so sorry for your devastating encounter. I can only hope that divine retribution will find its way into that guys life but never, never let someone else’s ignorance make you doubt who you are and what you are about.

    Why not admit to surgery...

I made the mistake of telling a few people at work when I was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago and they told people and those people told others. I don’t mind the people that ask questions about diabetes but its’ all the others who remind me on a daily basis what I can and can’t eat. “You can’t have that, Its’ got sugar in it!!!” or feel they need to remind me that I am diabetic (like I could ever forget) I could only imagine the comments I would get if I told them I had WLS (YIKES). Besides I had a co-worker that got RNY a couple years ago and 2-3 times a day people would ask “How much weight have you lost?” Over time I notice her expression changed when people would ask. At first she was excited to tell people then as time went on the eye roll and the sigh crept into her expression before she would give an answer, and then of course I heard all of the negative comments expressed from those same smiling faces after she walked away. I just didn’t want to go through all of that. It’s hard enough for me without the added pressure from others. The band is just a tool for me; the majority of my weight loss is still up to me. I still have to watch what I eat and drink, I still have to get off my rump and exercise. Just because I have a band doesn’t mean I had surgery and woke up thin.

In Need of Lap Band Surgery

ddsgrammy I looked around on the MediCal web site. If you type Bariatric in the search it pops up a few places that do the surgery I am sure if you call them they might accept MediCal. You can always call and see. http://www.medi-cal.ca.gov/ Hope that helps Good luck
  17. To tell you the truth I almost walked away from getting my band because of my love affair with bread. I didn’t know how I could live the rest of my life without it. Thankfully my love for myself won out over my love for bread. I was banded June 20th and have not had a single craving for bread or carbs. My cravings are different now. I find myself wanting things with protein. If you have done your research and decide that the lap-band is for you then that’s what you go for. You know better than anyone one what you are capable of handling.

    Labwork has me Crying DIABETES!

Sherilynn I was diagnosed about 7 years ago with type 2. The band absolutely helped save my life. A couple of my doctors wanted to put me on insulin my blood sugars were so high and not under control at all. I was just too afraid of the daily needles I couldn’t do it. Now that I have my band and have started losing weight I am almost completely off my glucose medicine. When you are first diagnosed with Diabetes it can be quite scary. I did a lot of crying myself. Fortunately the supervisor I had at work was diabetic also so he gave me a lot of information and let me know it wasn’t as scary as I had thought. You just have to take it one step at a time. Talk to your doctor and he will get you on the right medicine to help level out your blood sugars. If you have the strength to decide you want to be banded and get thought the surgery then you have what it takes to deal with diabetes.

Blue Cross Blue Shield & Aetna

I have Aetna also. I had to do a 6 month Doc supervised diet program but once that was done Aetna took less than a week to approve surgery.
  22. DH and I went down today to apply for our passports. We are so excited about the Cruise. I want to start shopping but I don't know what size I will be in 9 months. :clap2:
  23. My doctor required two week liquid diet before surgery. I did really well the first week. The second week??? I had my last good meal every day of the week. Still managed to loose 10lbs before surgery. Pre op diet depends on the surgeon

    June 2006 Band Crew

Its sound like everyone is doing so well. It seems like I am a little behind. Since banding I have lost 22 lbs and have had only 1 fill. I am not feeling the restriction like I did after surgery. I think I need to call and schedule an appointment. The only real trouble I am having is that fatal first couple of bites. When I get really really hungry I tend to attach those first few bites and of course don’t chew enough and I get stuck. I have only PB’d once. I guess I should actually listen to DH when he says, “your hungry so slow down and crew” GGggggrrrrr. I hate it when he is right.
