  1. Hmmm.im curious why potassium and Prilosec..or is that an ant-acid? Yes seems there are differences in nutrition..as ive been watching the boards and previously done my homework...lol...im not sure why people..doctors.. would want to push their..or pts.. bodies..but i guess to each their own Still better to err on side of caution..i think..

    March 2014 Losers

Going on day 11 post op...ugh...thank god for my vitamix from Costco...today i made my own soup in it...butternut squash (cooked) ...white..red onions(handful)..orange pepper...35 baby carrots...butter lettuce...and few others along with sage and crushed red pepper ..oops a tad too much..but not really...my body handled it great...i premade more soups bf i left... ok for groceries..eating chocolate pudding low fat low sugar portioned into small bowls (1/2 cp)for the week....broths..today tried subways chivken noodle soup broth did not seem salty at all...just had a few sips ..have to check website...jellos im sick of aspertame...ugh....isoflex protein drinks...but they coagulate when you put leftover in fridge so will have to share with spouse..lol...i bought fresh broccoli and cheese soup from sobeys and vitamixed it as broccoli pieces evident...lots of crushed ice (ty fridge!!)..tried cream of wheat and milk but that didnt settle well...although spouse mistakenly bought 1%instead of our reg skim...but think ill wait another week to retry the cream of wheat.

    Any Canadians Out There?

Hi neighbour...im in Ft. Mac..... im 9 days post op rny...yes i went to Mexico...i lived in BC and gave been waiting yrs to get done..bs.. so i paid and had a wonderful experience!
  9. After thourough research myself i decided on bypass over sleeve...lapband not option...too many complications..a foreign object in your body...nuff said there. Im 9 days post op...i dont didnt have to work but i was up moving 5 hrs after surgery..there is extra weight from the gases used to expand your belly which i still have but its going ok...i could def be easily working edp at home...probably from day 4 that is after release from the hospital....as part of your new lifestyle u have to take breaks from eork...computer and walk around to move that gas around...no pain really after about day 5....in hosp they keep u pain free with drip/IV pain meds. Not sure what your work demands but honestly you r lucky and also if your staples r removed before leaving the hospital there is no reason you cant do anything. You can do it....honestly ive had a great experience but now im home and in the cold...vs San Diego and mexico where i spent 4 days shopping and touring 4 days post op....and alll day ..ie 2 to 11 pm...lol. the only discomfort us the gases and swelling... finding a good position to sleep..lol.. Why gastric bypass over sleeve....bc sleevecdoes not resolve GERD....i believe both reduce or eliminate diabetes...and theres no long term studies for long term results with the sleeve..and generally really really overweight people who get the sleeve have to get rny..so now your paying for two surgeries... or undergoing 2 surgeries... im not sure how much you weigh.. but if iver 300 id say bypass.....btw..ive never ever heard someone going from bypass or sleeve to lapband...god i hope that lady mixed her info up....lol...good luck and best wishes

    Tips from success stories

Check out diet meal plans from playstore...do your research...again up to you to do as you please and what your dr suggests..pls stop bullying and trying to disqualifying my knowledge, education, priffessionalism and the yrs of research i did bf i had my op...its obvious many of you have not sekf researched and are counting on one person...so if u didnt want others suggestions or opinions why did you post for help?
  12. Def bypass...the sleeve does not resolve GERD in fact some sleeves pts it worsened...the sleeve is fairly new so long term results are not out theee yet. Finally sleeve is generally first op of two as larger patients get the sleeve then a yr or 2 yrs later get the bypass. At 260 lbs GERD..tg no diabetes it was a no brainer to go bypass...after all my research...Im 9 days post op...had a grest mexican dr....dr.f. garcia..am healing fairly well...no regrets....gl

    Tips from success stories

Honey our innards and outside skin are ALL the same...go ahead and drink protein drinks...first youre risking stretching your pouch...and you should be more focused on your healing innards as to what goodies you get to eat...after all you didnt come this far to sabbotage all this effort did you..there are caring honest doctors and there are some who will let you decide what you want to do....go do your own research instead of believing either of us. The fact is solid foods...heavy foods can cause pressure on your stitches and stretch your pouch. These foods can lead to discomfort and vomiting. Everyone needs to drink light clear fluids for the first week to ensure healthy and proper tissue (innards and outer) healing...its up to everyone to RESEARCH info ...the forum can help but may be confusing bc every dr and nut has there own ideologies...research and listen to your body....also sodium is not a great plan..if those protein drinks have plenty of sodium remember your body already pumped up with salt water...it will take you longer to get rid of the swelling and gases. Good luck

Pls no rushing ladies...yes clear fluids only during first week....let that stomach heal from surgery...no protein til second week when you get introduced to calcium products milk..yogurt..pureed soups...youve come this far....it will go fast trust meim 2nd week post op..plenty of food but im taking it slow and watching fat and sodium content....any questions id be glad to help...i have nutritional course and am an LPN. Good luck
  22. You are pre op...not post op right? Ehat date iscyour surgery.. i have tobdisagree with nut about 3 week no protein...naybe u miss understood...generally week 1 post oo...clear fluids..low sugar...low fat...ni sodium...week 2 intro to milk ..yogurts ...pureed liquid Soups..and Protein shakes (calciums)..inc week1 fluids ..week 3 soft foods cottage cheese..scrambled eggs....abd weeks 1 and 2 foods...week 4 intro to sift fishes i believe..... Protein is vital in healing process as well as full feeling...dont stalkbuo on anything til u are at tgat point...remember take it slow...6 weeks internal body healing...low sugars...low fat and low sodium..our bodies already pumped up with saline...honlow didium soups and or add Water.....good luck with durgery and your journey...btw i have taken a nutrition course and am an LPN....
