Just wanted to share that in my husband anesthesiologist mtg, the anesthesiologist asked us at the end if we believed in Jesus Christ and then proceeded to pray with us. I was too elated! Nothing like a doc who knows there is power greater than himself and yields to & honors that power!

So I've been being the supportive wife researching the food end and looking all through the feeds on this site. I've even been stressing the "right" foods and am doing the majority of the diet with him (we are pre-op now, which is 2 weeks high protein, meats, veggies and shakes; we go down to clear liquids at the 2-days mark). Aside from the struggle of getting him to follow the pre-op diet, I've found a new problem. I've been reading posts from ppl who are barely over 200 pounds, many around 230 pre-WLS, who are having or have had surgery. I am 300 pounds and have never considered surgery as a option. I am looking forward to my husband's surgery as a way to get back to eating right without the influence of unhealthy foods and working out without the influence of staying home. But seeing those posts make me feel worse about my weight and has me wondering if i should be considering a sleeve. I mean they are no where NEAR my weight and had surgery!! I know I will finally be losing weight again and should be keeping it off this time, but geesh! Should i be having WLS, too???

March 2014 Sleevers
PoohbearJohnson replied to kimpossible80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My hubby says NO. He says take 2. Like she said, you will more than likely still be fatigued, organs still getting back to normal working order...plus, I'm thinking about the bumpy ride you have. And to top it off, managing kids. I'm a teacher (high school) and you may not have the energy to properly deal with them. -
Any sleevers in the Atlanta area?
-
I don't know how to do it, but you can try to msg cobra5000 (my husband). I'm sure he wouldn't mind. He was sleeved March 28. Do you mean you're all alone like not knowing any other sleevers or what?

March 2014 Sleevers

Try a cracker. Just chew until completely mushed. -
He's doing great! More energy when working out, getting more water down, vitamins everyday since we got home, still working on protein. So far, eggs, fish, lima beans, and homemade fruit smoothies all going down nicely. Not much nausea, no pain! Down 32 lbs since 2 weeks pre-op. He doesn't weigh daily. He weighed at the doc and only a couple times since surgery at the gym. I, however, am only down around 8 lbs in that time (but I am a little pleased to have dropped back below the 300 mark). Hopefully mine will improve, as I will soon be getting my very own elliptical :-) If you are going to continue to weigh daily, consider using the scales that provide the breakdown between fat and water weight, and bmi. While it's great to lose pounds period, it's even more important that weight is fat and not muscle! Also remember muscle weighs more than fat, so as you increase your exercise, a stall could really be muscle replacing fat (which would still be a loss). Stay focused and stay positive!!!

Susan, you are so right. Doctors, trainers, etc say weigh yourself no more than twice a week. I, too, have had many experiences where weight fluctuates day-to-day. It will drive you crazy if you let it! -
My hubby was also friday, and for right now, DITTO! How you feeling?
-
They didn't tell you no submersion for like almost 6 weeks?

I'm not finding it on fb -
At the hospital. Hubby was sleeved today. Doesn't like the groggy feeling he can't seem to shake. But has done at least 5 or 6 laps between falling asleep. :-)

Got my date - March 28
PoohbearJohnson replied to jcouturemobile's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Okay so far. He started clear liquids today (well midnight last night). He said he was hungry a couple hours ago, but he hadn't had much today (only 1 protein and not even much juice). I told him he needed more protein though. An hour ago, he tried broth, but straight out the carton. He said it was horrible, so I'm gonna get him some stuff to boil in it to help flavor it. Fortunately, though, he said it is a little filling. One more day...he is ssooo ready to have the procedure and get started!!! -

Black Women Lose Weight Slower...
PoohbearJohnson replied to fattyaj's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Slower losing may be an advantage - skin may adjust better. In regards to our nutrition, I was told by a bariatric surgeon that we all know certain carbs aren't good, but even an extremely small portion can be detrimental. Not only can it make the body store it to turn to fat, but it can make the body store anything that comes behind it store as fat (carb or not). That pesky pasta, bread and rice! -

Do you think periodic body wraps would help starting a couple of weeks after surgery? And what about body reshapers during the process? -
Thanks! I am ordering my hubby a sample pack from a website to add some variety. I saw on the site in it's advertising " and if you don't like coconut, don't get Caribbean Cooler" so was like oh ook so that was coconut flavor, that's good to know. Otherwise, I don't see how one could know what the non-fruit named ones would taste like. And thx for the bit about the syrup. I got him some stevia sweetener and was wondering what else we could use to help that unsweetened vanilla almond milk - that stuff is ROUGH!!!! Lol

Has anyone tried the syntrax nectar proteins?
