Iambeautiful replied to Iambeautiful's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements

Has anyone tried the Quest bars?
Iambeautiful replied to Iambeautiful's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@gomekast I'm trusting your judgement as obviously whatever you're doing is working well.... so i won't be afraid to have a Quest bar now and then.... no more than one a day for sure.... I can't over eat anymore to save my life..... Wait a minute... I AM saving my life by doing the opposite Thanks to the sleeve, I can't overeat anymore and I certainly am not going to try to test my limits.... it's a great thing. -
Has anyone tried the Quest bars?
Iambeautiful replied to Iambeautiful's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Thanks to all for the responses to this. I know GNC has individual Quest Bars so I can try the different flavors. I probably won't eat more than one a day. It's just to use while I'm on the go. At home I rather eat a meal. I won't over do the bars because my stomach won't let me. My stomach is of course not like it was before when I could have maybe eaten two bars in a sitting..... I bet i can barely finish one now. The mozarella stick is even hard to finish for me..... -
Has anyone tried the Quest bars?

@@Mrs.RRn Thanks for the response... I only plan to use them when I'm on the road and will be away from home to make a healthy meal. I am not worried about eating too many of them like one person said. I get filled up very easily so I couldn't over indulge if I wanted to without making myself sick. I just don't want to be feeling hungry when i'm away from home at meal time. When I am allowed nuts, I will carry them as well for a quick fix to keep me from eating something I'm not supposed to. I think plannind is a key factor in success with any diet program. I thought of getting a cooler bag to carry with me when i go out and keep some mozarella sticks, Quest bars and some nuts and maybe a bottle of Water while I am on the go. -
eight weeks and not progressing with food phases.
Iambeautiful replied to Iambeautiful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@NMJG I know.... by next week they say I'm supposed to be eating almost anything.... What? Not me.... I know I can't. I am eight weeks post op and can eat a lot of things now so they say..... but i cannot tolerate raw foods.... that's for certain. Back to chicken salad, yoghurt, cottage cheese, beans maybe. funny i can tolerate chili very well.... the beans are very soft. Yes white meat chicken is very hard to eat but the minced up chicken in chicken salad goes down easier. My staple is sugar free bomb pops...... they get me through the day..... I don't eat more than 2. The coldness and sweetness is a treat. -

@SarahChavaBlingstein thanks Sarah.... I have to keep telling myself iambeautiful even though i haven't felt that way in years... I think the progression diet that the weight loss institute set up for us is an 'ideal' diet plan in it's phases but for people like me it's just not working. I had a major setback trying to eat any raw foods whatsoever. I actually got so nauseated today and I haven't felt this sick since right after surgery. I just cannot do raw food of any kind yet..... even fruit. Fruit is the worse. I guess because of the natural sugars in it. I'm going to stick with the soft food as much as possible still... -
Sounds like the gallbladder to me but i could be wrong.... since you lost so much weight and so fast... this can affect the gallbladder unfortunately.... Tell your doctor about this please.

How much does the sleeve hold?
Iambeautiful replied to sarahbethf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
you can always have more liquid food like soup than solid food. The normal for solid food for me is no more than one half cup at a meal Now I couldn't eat an entire can of soup to go but i certainly can eat more soup than solid food. This solid and liquid food combo is tricky..... you can eat more but you will be hungry way sooner..... maybe even an hour or two later if not sooner. liquids pass through the sleeve quickly but still all get absorbed there in the intestines. You can end up injesting more caloried when you do this. I love soup but sometimes only drink the broth in between meals to curb hunger ..... it workds great for that and something hot feels good on the stomach. I don't think your stomach stretched. Now if you can eat more than a cup of solid food that might mean that possibly. My body tells me when i've eaten too much or close to it.... Listen to what your body tells you. I get a choked up feeling and gassy when I've reached my limit. Good Luck. -
Has anyone incorporated the NAKED protein shakes in their diet?

Vitamins and protien shakes
Iambeautiful replied to camper-girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told the only way to go was to get the Bariatric Vitamins. Regular vitamins are not enough.... I bought mine through Bariatric Advantage on line...... if you don't take the Bariatric vitamins plus Thiamine and Biotin you may suffer nutritional deficiencies.... this is what my doctor reccomends. I also take Calcium Citrate along with it. -
Anyone else having trouble getting off pureed foods at six weeks..
Iambeautiful posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am six weeks post op and feel like I am taking two steps backwards..... I cannot get solid food down with feeling nausea and a feeling like it's stuck my chest.... I keep burping until the feeling passes and then i cannot finish my food..... this is terrible.... I'm going back on pureed again.... I don't know what else to do. I'm calling the nurse line tomorrow because i tried to eat cantalope today and chewed it up goo but got so nauseated and then for the first time in five weeks, I actually vomitted all up.... My gosh.... who gets sick on something like cantalope....Geeez.... I wonder if i will EVER be able to eat regular food ever again..... sigh! -
uh I think not.... but if it makes you sick, you probably won't try it again. All the sugar free products usually have sugar alcohols that act like sugar in your system........ I won't even try that and it's not low in calories either.. Now the question is.... could you just eat one..... I probably couldn't ....at least before surgery.

1st 12 hours after sleeve
Iambeautiful replied to Tammylb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Tammylb was your sugery laporascopic.... I didn't have a lot of incisional pain at all...... My back hurt, my neck and my Left shoulder from gas....... I wasn't offered a heating pad but wish I'd thought of that too..... I had a terrible headache many days post op but it gradually went away.... it was like a migraine.....it was horrible..... but it does get better....every day. -
I hope you feel better soon. I have made up my mind that regrets will not help anything..... I can't go back to before surgery agian so might as well accept that this is how it is....... and hope that when i get to my goal weight that nothing else will matter that happened along the way..... Good Luck......

Post op medications (crushed meds)
Iambeautiful replied to GemmaLicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@DirtyHarriett Ugh.... liquid Lortab..... that's disgusting too..... I gag when i try to take that..... You could maybe crush the meds and mix with applesauce if you are allowed...... I always pop a sugar free mint in my mouth after i take my crushed meds....... I can't do the Jello either. It is a problem.... I don't know how long we have to wait to be able to swallow whole pills again...... ugh...... -
3 months post op photo
Iambeautiful replied to mumoftwo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When I still think of myself as fat and still the same as i was..... I look in the mirror and go.... Whoa.... Ok so I have lost some weight... lol...... And i haven't even lost 40yet.... almost. -
@@Amanda Nicole Hosaflook I hear it gets better by six months post op...... Focus on your weight loss.... the bad habits were what got us to this point in the first place...... you can still go out with friends but you just have to eat less and eat things that your are able to. Not sure how old you are but since I'm 60...I am not interested in going out for drinks anymore.... and even if i did I could drink something else besides alcohol...... I've actually done this before my sleeve..... I order non alcoholic drinks..... I can have fun, laugh and have a great time without alcohol..... Good friends and good company is all i need. I'm hoping that I'd even have more fun if I went out because I'd have a nicer body and could finally look good when i dress up and go out..... that in itself would make me happier than any alcohol could ever make me feel....... just my opinion..... it'll get better.....

I have NO regrets except that I didn't do it sooner. Sure I have days when I'm frustrated because I can't eat things or even finish my food.... but that's a blessing really and it will help me as it's supposed to do to lose weight. I can't physically eat anything I want..... I am six weeks post op and getting grilled chicken down was impossible without feeling like it was stuck in my chest... I don't like those symptoms of Have when I try to eat.... the burping and the gas..... but it all keeps me compliant..... I can't cheat even if I wanted to (which I don't) I am liking having this tool to control my eating for once in my life.... I don't miss over eating at all.... I am satisfied with small amounts of food. I thought that I'd never be able to have a baby sized portion on my plate... eat it and even leave food on my plate..... it's amazing..... I can't wait to see my success in six months time..... No regrets...at ALL.......

How did you feel in recovery
Iambeautiful replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess everyone really feels differently post op.... My incisions didn't really bother me because my doctor injects the sites with a long acting numbing agent that lasts for three days. Now after day three it was sore but manageable..... just felt like i did maybe one hundred sit ups or so...lol Now one thing that stands out in my mind was that as soon as I woke up I felt a terrible and horrible pain in my left shoulder and under my Left breast..... I was afraid that it was heart related. When I told the nurse where I was hurting she told me it was from the CO2 gas that they inject into the abdominal cavity so that the organs show up more clearly on the monitor when doing the laporascopy surgery. That didn't go away until day 2..... And then there was excruciating back pain for me.... maybe it was from the way I was lying on the operating table i hear or lying flat for so long in recovery. But that might have been only specific to me because i do have arthritis..... I had to take morphine for pain in my shoulder and the pain in my back....... WEll expect the worst and then if you don't have a hard time then you will be grateful for an easier recovery then me..... The aftermath of severe nausea and vomiting was no fun either..... I stayed in the Hospital for four days..... a lot of people here say that they do a heck of a lot better than I did..... I hope you are one of the lucky one's who have an easy recovery. -
I think us newbies should stick to our post op questions and sleeve discussions and the more advanced members should maybe stay with the posts of the people that have been here a long time and have already gotten close to their goal weight....... Us newbies (if you all can remember) have a million questions about what we are going through at each stage of the game and it's helpful to find someone you can relate to. We don't come here to have interesting reading. Get a good book if that is what you want. Us newbies are crying for support...... being Pedant is not helping anyone....
-
@@Madam Reverie Sorry really but us newbies have such anxiety.... most of us don't search topics..... Maybe you DO need a break I really am just absorbing everything and it helps believe me.

Popcorn is one of the very last foods they allow at six months.

Orange is NOT my new black! How my fashions have changed!
Iambeautiful replied to ziggypbang's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@ziggypbang I can't wait to be able to wear white jeans and look good in them or an all white outfit.... strange but i love white clothes...... not all the time mind you but every once in a while I'd love to break out in a nice summery white dress or jeans..... And even after September with white shoes ...lol oh and I am a nurse...lol -
I lost some weight on my own three years ago and kept it off more or less but it was creeping back rather slowly..... I had to do something drastic at this point..... I need knee surgery and I can't have it until I lose 100 lbs they say....... I can't wait to get my life back
