Has anyone ever had trouble getting your spouse to support your decision? I have tried and tried to talk with my husband and he still choses not to support me. I know it isn't the money or the idea of the lost obese wife. He just feels that I can do it on my own by just eating less and moving more. I feel if it was that easy, I could have done it for the last 20 years. My husband and I have a great relationship but this is one thing we are not agreeing on. Has anyone had this and what have you done. I finally told him that it will happen if my insurance approves me. He didn't say anything. Thanks, Shawn

Can anyone recommend a doctor in the Cleveland area that does just fills? Thanks, Shawna
-
Hi Heather: I would like to get together. I had my surgery on Jan. 23, 08 and just had my first fill two weeks ago. My experience is still fairly new and I don't know if I could add to a conversation but I would be interested getting a group together. Thanks, Shawna

Jiggleypuff replied to deneicy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am going in for my first fill in a week and a half. Thank you to all those who responded. It really helps, Shawna -
I am 4 wks post op and read on one of my forms not to eat whole foods too soon it will stretch out your pouch. I have been following all the doctors orders but I am just curious of what are the ways that stretch out your pouch and how serious is that? Thanks for all your help, Shawna

Post Op Clear Liquids How can you heal?
Jiggleypuff replied to 2band2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Jan. 23rd and I think I am going to starve. My doctor has me on clear liquids for two weeks and yes I am getting hunger pangs too. He has me drinking SF Carnation Instant Breakfast, 2 oz. for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Mixed with 1% or skim milk it really isn't too bad. Than I fill in the rest of my day with broth, sf jello, sf pops, etc. Hope this is helpful, Shawna -
Hello Everyone: I read a thread that had a concern about a Holiday Party. I wasn't able to write this in time but I thought I might be able to help someone else this season. I have been an event planner for 20 years and I just wanted everyone to know it is ok to ask for a special meal. Most places will grant any wish. If your company is large enough to have an event planner, contact them first but if not, call the restaurant or place your having the event and give them the details that they need, liquids, no dairy, only mushy, etc. Once you sit down at your table, just tell the server you have the special meal and Enjoy! Thanks, Shawna

Will I really be able to lose with the band?
Jiggleypuff posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Everyone: My papers were just sent into insurance this week. I am worried that I will fail at this band change of life just as I have failed for the past 20 years. Is there anyone else who shared my feelings before surgery and who has had the surgery? Any advice is welcome, Thanks, Shawna -
Can you give me some advice on St. Vincent's. I might want to look into them as another option in Cleveland. Thanks, Shawn

Congratulations on approval!!! That has to be a great feeling. I am waiting back to hear from my psyc. evaluation. That is my last form before I can be sent off to insurance. I really didn't have any questions in particular. Just how was your first experiences, was everyone helpful and warm? Where I am going to now I really don't care for any of the people. I am one of those people that have to feel comfortable with my doctors. So when I read your clevelander thread, it got me thinking, I don't have to go with these guys if I don't want to. How long did the whole process take to get to where you are now? Feel free to give me any advice that pops into your head. Thanks, Shawna

I have been active in the process since mid August. I have been interested in the band for about 5 years. I am not sure if I have to do the 6 month thing for insurance. My insurance is United Healthcare and my PCP wrote a note saying that he has been observing my diet and exercise program for 6 years. So I am not sure what they will come back with. I just want to get this waiting thing over with!!!!! I am trying to do it before the end of the year. I had another surgery in March of this year so all my hospital co pays are up to date and I won't have to pay if I am able to do it in 07. But you know Murphy's law. Stay in touch, Shawna

Hi Everyone!! Another Clevelander here. I am still pre-op, waiting on final papers to go to insurance. I am going with Dr. Stilleto at University Hospitals, of course, that's if I get insurance approval. Best of luck to all of us! Shawna

Oh my god guys, I think my husband creeped on my computer and wrote this thread. This is exactly how my husband feels and WILL NOT change his mind even after much talking and me trying to educate him!! I thank all of you that wrote your replies because it has helped me with my only concern. What if I do this and it is another failure! Thanks, Shawna

Dear Sandy: I too had a surgery at the beginning of the year and hope I can fit in mine before the end of the year. I do think he is confusing the two weight loss surgeries and thinks the risk of going under the knife is unnecessary. But I feel it is to make a life time change. I truely think he has too much confidence in me and doesn't want to consider all the illnesses that are knocking on my door. Thanks so much for your response. Shawna

Thanks for your response. Yes he needs to lose about 70 lbs. and is doing so now. I really do think he will benefit when it's all said and done and he will definately enjoy it, as will I (LOL) but I really would love my best friends support now!!! Shawna
