    protein bars

My husband prefers crunchy Cereal bar type. He likes ProtiDiet, some from Aldi's and Power Crunch. He didn't like the Quest Bars because they are chewy. I like the chewy bar.

    Mexican at 4 weeks?

I started eating cocktail shrimp at about 4 weeks. I do eat a lot of Beans and cheese with taco sauce and a little bit of taco meat. It's really satisfying for me. :-)

    Anyone feel like this?

My portion sizes have been all over the place. Some days I can eat a lot more than others. Today I'm not hungry, so I ended up drinking a Protein shake for lunch. I'm exhausted (kids up all night) and food didn't sound good at all.

    Ladies Questions -

I can count how many days in the last 8 weeks I haven't had bleeding. My Mirena CAME OUT today. I think it's becasue of all the bleeding. I'm hoping this curbs my bleeding.
  5. I've lost almost 50 lbs. I was in a tight 24. I'm now in a 22. I have 2 pairs of 22's that are still too tight. My shirts went from a 2XL t-shirt to a XL. It feels like by pant size should be smaller. I loset 60 lbs on WW at one time (9 months) and went from a 24 to a 20. I know eventually I'll wear smaller pants, but for now it's tough realizing that my butt isn't shrinking like I would like.
  6. Diet coke! :-) Caffeine I did almost cry when I saw someone drinking a diet Mountain Dew. I wanted that one BADLY!
  7. I got a sinus infection last week. I usually get one every March anyways. I'm also a 2/18 sleever.

    Inner Ear Pressure Problems Post-OP?

I've had a lot of sinus presssure crap going on in my left ear this week. I wonder if there is a connection? My ear has popped all day!
  9. HW: 313.0 SW: 300.0 4 week Wt: 275 (25 lbs from surgery) 6 week Wt: 270.2 (almost 43 lbs from pre-op diet weight!!!)
  10. My surgeon says no til 8 weeks post op. I totally forgot at 5 weeks post-op and was drinking my Biggby Iced Decaf Non-fat Mocha Mocha with one when I realized I wasn't supposed to. I texted my hubby and he laughed. I ended up continuing to drink it and didn't have an issue. I was just careful. I prefer drinking with a straw.
  11. My surgeon sends all of his patients home on acid reducers. I also have to pick up my script for something to help with gall stones. My husband is also a bariatric patient and had his gall bladder out at about 1 1/2 years out. he was hospitalized with severe chest pains. Turned out to be reflux from a gall bladder attack. He has a RNY.

    Help! TOM munchies?

What about a Protein bar? Make sure it has good protein and lower sugars and fats and you're good to go!
  13. I went to my surgeon yesterday for my 5 week post op appointment. My Protein and Vitamin D were both low. He is going to monitor my Vitamin D, but I have to up my protein intake. I have to get 70 grams now. Eek! I was struggling with 60 some days!!! I'm down 40 lbs from my pre-op appointment weight.
  14. I didn't realize how much I had lost until I compared before and one month pictures. I was shocked! I cannot see this looking in the mirror.

I use a Greek yogurt dip. I find it in the dip section at Wal-Mart. I like spinach dip while dh likes the roasted red pepper dip

    Anyone not tell family?

Good luck itsmekarenlee! My 8 year old knows what dh and I did. We explained it to her as we had surgery so we could get healthier and be able to do more with her. It seemed like an easy explanation for the entire process.

    Nausea Dizzy A.M. Why?

I found I was waking up nauseated and dizzy if I didn't make sure to have a protein snack later in the evening.

    Coffee

I drink decaf. I was told cream and artificial sweeteners are okay. Also sugar free syrups are allowed. Any creamers are allowed, even flavored.

    Irregular period

I've pretty much been spotting since surgery on 2/18. I was ON my period at surgery. I know that weight loss has a big effect on periods/fertility. I lost 60 lbs on WW and all of the sudden was no longer infertile. I now have a two year old I never expected! BC is your friend!

    First few weeks

Where was your profile pic taken? I grew up in MI and it looks like Up North, which I miss! It was actually Alaska this summer. :-) I grew up in Houghton Lake. I miss Northern Michigan, but I'm more Mid-Michigan now.

    Anyone not tell family?

It's not hard to avoid them because they live 90 minutes away (the closest of them) and we only see them when we go to see them. They hardly ever come to our house and only if we invite/guilt them into it. My parents have been great about it. They've helped with my kids every time I've had an appointment and during my hospitalization.

    Getting food stuck?

I've heard of the foaming. I'm never experienced it though. Are you chewing enough? Too big of bites? Not wet enough? How far out are you?

    First few weeks

I hugged my pillow a lot in the first week. I was allowed/able to do stairs (carefully) when I was released from the hospital. I took my pain meds faithfully for the first week or so. I found that if I was uncomfortable in bed, I would get up and walk around the house. If I was uncomfortable in my chair, I'd do laps around the kitchen table. Walking was key to keeping the pain in check. The biggest complaint for me: I'm a side or stomach sleeper and I had to sleep on my back (propped up) for the first two weeks. Week 3 I could SOMETIMES lie on my side but then my lower left incision pain got worse. Week 4 and I don't have any more sleep issues. Days 2 and 3 I asked my husband why the heck I did this to myself. I felt helpless and I hate that feeling. I couldn't pick up my 2 year old. I couldn't help her put on her socks... He reminded me that he went through this and it's only a phase and this to shall pass. At week 4 this is just a memory.
