  3. I still cannot stomach pot roast or pulled pork at 2 1/2 months. Be kind to your tummy!!! As for drinking and eating, my surgeon now recommends it. When dh had his surgery in 2005 there was no drinking 1/2 hr before and 1/2 hour after. My surgeon has found that it helps patients to be able to process food better.

    cheesestick

I had my first cheese stick at 3 weeks post-op. It was sooooo yummy!!!

    Side sleeper

I couldn't sleep on my side for a couple weeks. I slept propped up on pillows on my back.

    I'm always cold?

It was 74 degrees in my office today and I was wearing a fleece jacket today. Add me to the always cold club.

    Stomach sleepers

Around 4 weeks. I hurt my elbow 1 month (to the day) from my surgery. I couldn't sleep on my stomach with the elbow injury, so I went 8 weeks sleeping on my back. The minute I could sleep on my stomach/side I was back that way!!!

    Abnormal Periods

Yep, I pulled a tampon out and along with it came my Mirena! At least my bleeding stopped the next day!!! :-) It hurt like a son of a gun when it came out!! If you're bleeding for weeks on end, make sure your Mirena is in place!!!
  9. I made Easter dinner. There was ham and green Beans (which I can eat both), cheesy potatoes and crecent rolls. Dh's grandma looked at both of us funny. Dh admitted to her that I had surgery and passed off his eating as being on a special diet diet on doctor's orders (he had a revision in December). My mom made a banana cake. Dh and I shared a tiny piece and didn't even finish it.

    Help with Protein 'shots'

ProtiDiet makes a clear liquid Protein "juice". I love the cranberry tea, blue raspberry, and Kiwi Melon.

    Need new meal ideas!

I'm not allowed carbs yet, so I have some carb free ideas. Shrimp cocktail (very high in protein) Refried Beans with taco sauce and covered in cheese--I also add a little taco meat, but you don't have to Boiled eggs made into egg salad chili (can make meat free but I noticed that the meat is soft if you crockpot all day) Cottage cheese with fruit (I love with cour apple, cinnamon and a packet of splenda) Greek yogurt with Kashi Go Lean Cereal

    Abnormal Periods

I bled for 8 weeks post-op. It stopped last week. Of course I had called my surgeon and been told it happens. I also called me OB/GYN and scheduled an appt. The first time I could get in was this week. It stopped as soon as I scheduled an appt with my OB/GYN. It's been gone almost a week. I'm loving NOT bleeding! LOL During all this bleeding, my Mirena fell OUT! 1 day later the bleeding stopped. I wonder if the combination of the hormones from surgery and hormones from the Mirena were causing the bleeding.

    Michigan Sleevers

Dr Gluck is awesome!!! I had my sleeve done the day before Sarah! :-) My husband has been a patient of Dr. Gluck's for the last 8 1/2 years. Dr Gluck will take you off work 4-6 weeks if you have a strenuous job. I've heard of corrections officers going back in 2-3 weeks IF they can guarantee they won't have inmate contact.
  14. At this point it's more about allowing your stomach to heal than it is what feels okay. I would hate to have you tear something because you are "sneaking" the wrong foods. Please be careful!
  15. My surgeon and NUT allows decaf. We've been doing Biggby, Tim Hortons or Dunkin Donuts decaf. They all taste great.
  16. If you're struggling that much, I'd call your surgeon! it takes time to heal. Allow your body to do so. If you don't listen to it, healing will be that much harder. I'm 8 weeks and tuna doesn't set well with me. It never has. What have you tried? For the first few weeks I lived on sandwich meat with cream cheese, cheese sticks and shrimp. They set the best. I'm happy to be past that stage. I ate steak last night. It was GREAT, but I still can't stomach tuna.

    Salad

My surgeon allows it at 8 weeks. I had a small amount of salad last night. It was delicious!!!
  18. I've tried to curb my moodiness since surgery. It bugs me that my thighs and huge butt are not departing as much as my abdomen and boobs. Also, having an 8 week period (YES, 8 weeks) really sucked!!! I was told it was the release of hormones that caused it. My poor husband has been suffering since my surgery.

    Advice Needed!

Are you making your shakes with milk? I was lactose intolerant right after surgery. It took me a week to figure it out. Shakes with milk and yogurt made me want to hurl.
  21. I'm supposed to get 70 grams of Protein now. I was at 60 but had low protein levels. At 2 weeks I didn't have a problem because I was on ALL liquids. It's more of a challenge while eating foods.

    MAJOR regrets

I asked quite often why the heck I did this early on. My surgeon puts EVERYONE on an acid reducer for the first 3 months post op. I've never been on acid reflux meds in my life. Did they give you Zofran? That helped early on for me. Things will get better!

    returning back to work

My energy levels were super low. I was receiving long term disability payments and my surgeon recommended 4-6 weeks. I ended up taking 6. By the time I went back to work, I was walking the dog, cleaning the house and feeling pretty normal, without naps.
  24. LOL. I realized a couple weeks ago that I don't remember ANYTHING btween being wheeled down the hall to surgery and then being wheeled into my room. NOTHING.

    Omg I ate how much?

Yogurt is a slider. You can fit more in quicker than solid foods. Don't worry! You'll see it when you eat something more solid.
