  1. I couldn't have any fruits until 8 weeks. Maybe throw some in your Water to flavor it, but not EAT the fruit?

    Bad day

You're going to have bad days. I realized last night that I hadn't drank ANYTHING since I came home from work last night. It was almost 4 hours... Luckily I'd drank enough during the day to meet my 64 oz goal, but it still bothered me. Do your best and move on. Tomorrow is a new day. This is a new hour... don't keep repeating the same mistakes.
  3. My kids wanted Mc Donald's and I was unprepared for my blood sugar to crash while garage saling. I got myself a grilled chicken sandwich and ate it bunless. It was pretty yummy and I've never like McD's chicken sandwiches! LOL
  4. My husband is also a WLS patient (RNY). He's been my rock, my encouragement and my cheerleader. He comments on how hot I look in clothes now. We loved each other before WLS but I think we are closer as a couple after. We walked a 5K together last weekend. We finished in 48 minutes. Not bad for a fat chick.

    Protein

Try a non-milk based product! Milk bothered me a lot early on. My friend was sleeved May 18th and milk bothered her until last week.
  6. Sarah, I'm proud of everything you've been doing! That's great!!! We are going to the Detroit Zoo on Saturday. We are camping in Hudsonville in a few weeks. I'm hoping to go to Grand Haven or South Haven (depends on which our friends want to do).
  7. Sarah, I love Jimmy Johns bread, so it's a challenge for me to JUST smell it! dinner tomorrow night is most likely an unwich. :-) Dh and I walked a 5K this weekend. He had a revision in December and has a bad back. We walked it in 48 minutes. My goal was under an hour. We really pushed each other. We made it a goal to pass a lady with two kids. We passed them and kept going. We almost caught the people in front of them. We finished with 7 people behind us. :-) Totally awesome feeling!
  8. I've been at a stall for the last two weeks. Come to find out my thyroid and a bunch of Vitamin levels were off. I'm on vitamin supplements (on top of my bariatric vitamins) and my synthroid dose has been decreased. We camped in Harrison for the holiday weekend. My butt fit between the wall and the bed of our camper better than ever. I found camping foods to be a little more challenging than my evey day eating, but made it through. I've discovered Jimmy John Unwiches. YUM! Your favorite JJ sub on lettuce wrap. It's yummy and Protein packed. I've been nervous eating out. I just did two days of training for work in Muskegon and even though I ate out with a group, I didn't feel too weird. I ordered a chicken sandwich with no bun and a side salad. :-) It helped that the person sitting next to me was sleeved 3 years ago.
  9. I'm in Carson City. My starting weight was 313. My current wait is 251. I can't wait to be able to say I'm under 250!!! I won't be rollerskating since I dislocated my elbow skating in January (1 month before surgery!) It's still painful today! My husband and I signed up to walk a 5K next month. I'm nervous but know I can walk 3 mles. I just don't want to finish last!
  10. I'm definitely doing this to benefit my girls. I want them to have a healthy mom! I helped at softball practice today. It was actually fun jumping in and helping. Congrats on being the Granmda who can play with them!
  11. My kids are 8 and 2 1/2... a little more needy!! The weather has been crappy so I cannot just take the little one outside (she gets cold REALLY easily).
  12. Hi kimba6999 I'm glad you had a good week weight wise. I don't have a caloric goal, just a Protein goal of 70 grams a day. I decided to fully track everything I ate this week to get my exact protein intake. Some days I realized I was a little behind on getting in my protein. I decided it wasn't a good week to way myself (monthly visitor) and when I finally did, I was down 1.4 lbs. My total loss is 62 lbs, with my current weight being 251.4. I'll take it! I am not getting the exercise I should, but this time of year is nuts. My daughter has soft ball and my husband has been working late, leaving me home alone with 2 kids, homework, baths, dinner... Thursday is my 3 months post op appointment. I'm curious to see what their scale says! :-)
  13. I've had more male coworkers mention my weight loss to me than female. My closest/female coworkers only notice that I'm wearing different clothing. A couple of the men actually sent me emails saying "your weight loss is really noticeable. Keep up the good work". That really made me feel good, but I had to laugh that they were not comfortable saying anything in front of the other guys. :-)
  14. Consider yourself lucky! I had an 8 week period post op. It stopped, I took 4 weeks off and then had another one. I would definitely get with your gyno though!

    100 Pounds in 4 Months?

I'm 3 months and have lost 62 lbs. It fell off at first and has slowed doesn. Every time I have a stall I notice that my shape has changed. Clothes fit different. don't rush yourself. It's about being healthy.
  16. Dh had a RNY in 2005 and a revision in 2013. He initially lost a ton of weight (166 lbs) and then regained about 70 lbs (lifestyle/back injury related). He was having stomach issues and went back to our bariatric surgeon who basically ended upmaking a sleeve of dh's pouch. During the regain period, his dad and brother just made rude comments about his weight (neither of them are thin and they are both severe diabetics). Fast forward 2 months, as I'm approaching surgery and dh tells me that he would rather we not tell his family that I was undergoing WLS. I really didn't care, so we didn't tell them. I'm now 4 weeks post op and we STILL haven't told dh's family. We don't see them very often and are now actively avoiding them until I lose more weight (I'm down 35 lbs). My parents, sister and one aunt knew about my surgery pre-op. I've since told other aunts (on my side) and both of my grandmas. Did anyone else not share their WLS with family? Did you eventually tell them?
  17. Another Michigander here! I currently live in Carson City (45 minutes north of Lansing). My surgeon was Dr. Gluck in Muskegon. :-) I grew up in Houghton Lake, so I'm familiar with ALL of your areas. I'm almost 3 months post op and down 60 lbs. I haven't done much/any clothing shopping so far. I bought a few things on ebay and have clothing from prior losses. I cannot wait to get my ebay orders for capris. I started selling last summer's capris and shorts because they fall off of me. My husband and I are signing up for a 5K in June. We're both walking it, but we're still gonna do it. :-)

Dannon Light and Fit Greek Blended is my favorite. I love the vanilla Coconut and the Key Lime! YUM!!! 12 grams of Protein and low sugar!

    How long did u crush?

I never had to crush pills. I went home taking 1 pill every 15 minutes to get my daily pills in. I've never had a problem.

    Antibiotics

I've been on antibiotics since my sleeve on 2/18. I didn't have any problems.

    Protein Goals

I ended up lactose intolerant after surgery. Switching to Lactose Free milk, Ensure Protein RTD, and ProtiDiet Concentrate really helped me meet my protein goals. The lactose intolerance got better and I can now handle milk and greek yogurt again.

When can you use a straw?

I wasn't allowd to for 8 weeks. I forgot about week 4 though. After that I went back to "No straw". I do get my fluids in better with a straw cup.

    Anyone not tell family?

I told part of dh's family now. They've been supportive, but I hate having every bite scrutinized.
