  1. I am also a GL fan grew up on the show watching it with my Mom since the mid to late 60 when I was old enough to understand the plots somewhat. But I think it is wonderful that Ashlee is getting the band. I was happy to see that they let her and Coop consumate their relationship preband. It shows that you don't have to be size 4 for a healthy and happy sex life. I am so happy for her and so far Elieen Wheeler is doing a bang up job with the story line. I can't wait to see how this plays out. I believe the actress has it in real life she has lost weight....Way to go GL

    Can you feel your band?

I thought that was the band too, I was feeling to but it is actually the port. If I am laying on my side I can really feel it, it was so round and large I thought it was the band but it is the port. I can't feel the band both the surgeon and my PCP told me it is to deep internally to feel.

    First Fill

:humble: I am having my first fill on December 19th and I am excited but I also am having my job's holiday dinner two days after my fill :hungry: so I am a little anxious about that, it will be my first time eatting in a resturant since surgery.

No pain coming out of anesthesia...

....I did....now let the losing begin. I too did not have any pain. I was waiting for the pain to come so like a dummy I hit the morphine button. But I was doing it in anticipation of pain....what an idiot. I did not need any pain medication and my prescription is still sitting here unfilled. I am sore!!!! But NO shoulder pain either. Yippie!!!!!Let the weight loss begin. Okay the bad side just for those non believers...I have abdominal gas and diarrehea....that's all.

    Will I Change my Mind??

I knew I had to do something with a BMI of 38 I was heading for major medical issues. I knew that I would have to do something as I begin to approach my 50'sd in the next five years. I had vowed it would not be this much of me on my 40th birthday and I could not keep the promise. Anyway I too was getting ready to chicken out...I won't lie right up to the point when they wheeled me into the operating room I was going to jump off the table and go to the closest Weight Watcher's meeting. But the reality is.... yes, I had lost there in the past but it all came back with more. Honestly $600.00 is not worth your life and a healthy future. I was just banded and the worst part has been the liquid diet after surgery. I do have some abdominal gas...NO shoulder pain. But for the results I am expecting I do believe it is well worth all that I went through so far. Everyone told me that the seconds thoughts was normal...people even say the after thoughts will kick your behind. My thinking is very worst case scenerio what goes in can come out. I am not planning to have Blanche (that is what I named my band) taken out, but the option is mine. No one can make the decision for you, but plan for the worst pain and pray for the best ( I did) but it was NOT bad at all. I am happy that the whole "will I die" feeling has past, now I can go on to the next stage. I am up already two days out from surgery I was on NO pain medication, went for a manicure and a pedicure a little shopping for juice and picked up the dog from the kennell. I even just came back from walking her...am I sore you betcha but nothing this old gal can't handle. Good Luck.
  9. Just way out your options and make the decision that is best for you. For me the bypass was NOT an option.

    Just Banded 11/12

:update: I too, was gonna back out almost to the point when the rolled me into the operating room. I kept thinking let me just try one more diet....but reality sank in I realized with 100-120 pounds to lose, I would probably never do it or it would all come back. So I am officially banded as of 11/13/07. I was scared to death. But it was NO where as bad as I thought it would be. They kept me over night the morphine drip was making me sick. I was only pushing the pump in anticipation of pain...what an idiot. Once I stopped using that it was all on the up swing. I came home started getting gas once I started drinking. Only pain is bending and getting in and out of bed. Once I get that good spot in bed I am alright. I took off three weeks from work...just in case. I planned for the worst and really came out with the best. I have some diahhrea. I called the hospital they said to call back tomorrow. Just a little afraid of dehydration. But I am still drinking, eatting jello, will have some hot tea and a protein shake later actually...Yes I would do it again. Now I just have to do what it will take to lose all of this weight. Anyone afraid just email me. All the people in the chat room was wonderful, they told me what to expect and I have to thank them for all their phone calls and support. :peace:

TWO.FIVE HOURS TO A NEW START

I guess I should be getting ready but I am still laying here :heh: I have two hours before I have to go the hospital. I guess it is fair enough to say, I am no longer nervous, more anxious to just go to the hospital have the procedure done and get in my hospital appointed bed and butt out gown:banplease: I can't wait to look like I never had a weight problem. It soon will be behind me...well, in reality that is where it always have been I have meet some really nice people here. And some that have truly touched me with their kind words and encouragement I guess I need to thank God  for all the issues that I could have encountered with this much weight on me,and thank him for helping that I did not have any health issues. So now I can focus on getting this weight off before I start aging....ok already I am aging:deadhorse:...so let just say continue to age very nicely into the sunset. Well, getting ready to go to the hospital and I will :BeRightBack: to let you all know how it went. I prepared for the worst and prayed for the best. I know that God loves me and will take me through this journey with his love. See you all by Thursday the latest.

    Major case of nerves today

I am actually counting the hours and I am freaking out big time. I am gonna go out so I can stop thinking about it. I know I will be alright I just need to calm down. I just have to think that in 24 hours the surgery will be behind me scheduled for 11:30 tomorrow morning have not told a lot of people so that should make it easier. I am gonna have my last pepsi that should cheer me up for the road. I actually did not have to do a pre opt diet thank God. I promised my doctor I would lose prior to surgery on my own and I did.

    New in NJ

Hi I am being banded on November 13th and my doctor just told me to lose weight which I have over the past three months. Once he checked my current weight (which I have to update) he said the liquid diet is not necessary preop. I of course was scheduled for PAT's and surgery that is it.

    Empire BSBS ????

I have Empire, they required 6 months of monitoring from your PCP stating your failed diet attempts. You have to do a nutritional evaluation and a psychiatric evaluation. It then took less then two weeks for the approval.
  17. Kele Kana You gave me an excellent idea, :eyebrows: I have been wanting to go to the zoo. I think that will be a good "walking" opportunity for me. I have decided I will PUSH myself for the gas expolsion if for nothing else. Lion and Tiger and Bear OH MY:llama:<~~~~and a llama too

You look wonderful:clap2: You have truly made me realize that I am definitely going through with my surgery I was starting to chicken out, just getting nervous :scared:especially about the anesthesia. I had to even tell someone that I had changed my mind so they would lay off of the nagging. I feel really bad and eventually he will find out but for now I need to be concentrating on me and not others. :thankyou:Thank you so much for posting today and not lurking ....I can't wait until November of 2009 for my two year anniversary.

    Week One Alone?

I too live alone. I am planning to do all my house work and shopping pre op. I also will discuss with my doctor about having any prescriptions filled prior to going in the hospital. I am even leaving the dog in the kennel for two days, the day of the surgery and the day after. My family all lives out of town. I fell it would be better to just relax alone. I already figure I would by some nice fresh flowers to come home to and have made arrangements to be off from work for two weeks. I will be having surgery on 11/13 on a tuesday. I will stay home the entire week and then I will take the Mon-Wed off because the following week is Thanksgiving. I figure going back the Monday after Thanksgiving will give me more then enough time off to recuperate. You guys are such support thank you...I know now that I will be fine home alone.

    Don't look at me!!!!

:clap2:Are you my twin sister...I 100% agree. My primary reason to lose weight is due to me getting older and I don't want any health issues. I don't want to be sick and strutting:D Rather, I was a size 10 or 22 I carried myself the same. I love looking good rather the wrapper is big or small.:cheer2:
