Out of pocket expense?
Jersrose43 replied to simplyrita8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ahnalucille - it's not hard. Get them to forward you a summary of benefits or benefit at a glance. It will state your copays, deductibles etc. Get it for both insurances. One jnsurance cannot help you with the other. Basic assumption - if they both carry copays/deductibles then you will pay the lesser of the two -
I posted it on my facebook page when I checked in at the hospital. So far all but one has been supportive. That one should have it as well but believes she can do it with diet. But alas were no on her friends so I can't support her in that belief

Approved.....but a huge delay. UGH
Jersrose43 replied to MrsB2007's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They don't have to resubmit. They call the jnsurance with the authorization number. The jnsurance changes the name of surgeon and hospital. Most insurances will do that for you. You should call the carrier and find out which surgeons are in network and if it has to be at a center of excellence. Good luck -

See my pm. This shouldn't be a problem. If it wasn't brought up before am surprised but perhaps your coverage changed on 1/1/15? This is not the type of change that an employer is required to notify you of -

Most insurances pay the hospital for the EVENT surgeries are payable in a different way to surgeons. You get the first procedure authorized - sleeve etc The hernia is a secondary procedure. The insurance may pay for it or may deny it as inclusive to primary insurance. Either way the patient is not responsible and it's a loss to the doctor. As long as the procedure you want is clearly stated on auth - the sleeve. You're fine and good to go -

I think evry surgeon is different. With the holidays a lot of folks were off. I would follow up with the office tmmw if they have not called you. I knew before they did that I was approved. Because I called my insurance every day. They don't.

Lying about what type of surgery..
Jersrose43 replied to Bubsen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't like to lie. But if you must I recommend and ulcer. You will be on acid reducers after for a long time. You will have a modified diet same as an ulcer patient. Ulcers come back for retreating in case of complication. Remember that the sleeve was originally effective as ulcer and stomach cancer treatment -
