how did you pay your insurance deductible?
Jersrose43 replied to readyforchange2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are no longer insuring him so your employer reduces the deductible for a single person plan Your insurance has contracted rates meaning they get a discount form the provider charges If you have not met your deductible that bill for $1167.98 applies to your deductible and you have to pay that bill All services you receive go to your deductible from whoever the provider you see until you reach the $1600. So you may not have to pay the surgeon or hospital that $1600 because it could be met by another provider if service Further once you meet the deductible. You may still be liable for a % of the services rendered up to another amount. Thee amounts can be clearly communicated to you by your insurance carrier. Give them a call Ask about deductible and out of pocket maximum -
I am sure you are in good hands! Have faith you will be fine. Good lick

Pre-op diet. Scary dream. Need any and all advice please!
Jersrose43 replied to Sunrise07214's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sunrise that's tough. Can you talk to your surgeon about some form of modified work schedule? I know part of the FMLA laws is you can have intermittent leaves or reduced work load etc. I am sure you don't work for yourself so if you can get the doc to help out with paperwork maybe they can send a helping hand? -

Pre-op diet. Scary dream. Need any and all advice please!
Jersrose43 replied to Sunrise07214's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very hard for me when everyone is home as well. I decided to slowly adopt the pre diet by doing one shake every two days and now daily. When I am home with the fan it's hard I know you can't leave work but can you ask for a reassignment from your supervisor even for a few hours of the day? Maybe half with patients and the other half doing paperwork somewhere ? Or with patients who aren't watching what you eat? -

Not big enough for WLS?
Jersrose43 replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I told my boss she was adamant against it. Unfortunately for her the corporate hr handles my STD I hear from her I can excercise My friends think why can't Zumba help me And the newest hey you started a Protein shake a day and you've lost a few pounds? Keep going you'll be fine! I don't think I will be I am a quick gratification person. I am sorry I am and I give up on diets because I see little to no movement and then gain what I lost plus some. -
Medicaid differs state to state but medicare is federal and one set of rules nationally. That said I don't know the regs but lots of folks on this forum were covered by medicare

Can you get a pre op diet from your doc? You should be able to lose that weight with the pre op diet ?
-
I am confused ... Did you already get approved by your insurance or do you still need to her approved? Are you saying your doc won't consider you for commencing the program until you lose weight first? Some insurances require up to 6 months of supervised diet and I even heard of some that take a year. Do you expect to have surgery this summer?

If you search on the site for "insurance paying for protein drinks" there is a really extensive post on this A lot of folks have been getting it covered through their pharmacy benefit It really all depends on your employer benefit so even same insurance different employers will be different

Cigna Center of Excellence 2+ hours away
Jersrose43 replied to Luvin_Life125's topic in Insurance & Financing
I've worked there for 5 years The designation is based on numerous quality factors to get the designation. An outside body (multiple medical associations) may make their changes and recommendation and may affect a Cigna designation eventually. I would just call and make sure you must use or is it just a better out of pocket experience For many Cigna plans the use of center of excellence reduces your out of pocket Mine is reduced 10% for instance No affect on my deductible - just coinsurance -

I was told the body can only absorb about 40 at a time is that not the case? -
I was 39.5 and didn't gain or lose in that time My stuff was sent in - with some missing info- and they rejected first time Make sure you get three visits - one a month in GREATER THAN or equal to 89 days or you risk rejection/delay Other than that it was ok no issue.
