Should I tell my boss I am having WLS or just say I need medical leave?
Jersrose43 replied to christo5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my boss last year and she reacted very negatively. I proceeded anyway. As she realized I was serious she is now accepting of it. Not exactly like she can do anything about it. I also told my coworkers and my direct employees. I don't care who knows really. Their small mind opinions are there own -
Doctor Requirements - Stuck in Approval

My doc doesn't require a weight loss unless you are over a 50 bmi or higher. Then he wants you to lose 5-10% of that -

? For those who are allowed Raw Veggies on pre-op diet
Jersrose43 replied to mi75's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I am allowed as many vegetables as I want but avocado and tomato were clearly labeled fruits and not part of my plan. I can have a half avocado but as a snack with the 1 meal I can have a day. That's it. Otherwise not so bad. Doing ok. -
Sorry but how did they miss it?

Insurance or Self-Pay?
Jersrose43 replied to Kooky1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So item 1 - you don't have another plan. You're paying cash. Second piece of this - you don't know if it will be covered because you're not following the prior requirements. The requirements are the 6 month diet plan/or nutritional monitoring I think you are putting yourself at risk -
I am having back pain and am jn pre op diet. I've lost 14 pounds. I am feeling sciatica like pain. I experienced same level of pain in the same area of my back during pregnant as I was gaining weight

Day 2 pre op. I am the biggest b***h alive?
Jersrose43 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So day 2 pre op diet I modified my diet so I didn't go cold turkey I did one Protein Shake a day for last 10 days or so. Lost 14 pounds. Not bad. Feel great. No loss of energy. Yesterday was day 1 2 shakes. Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch. I didn't do enough Water Sensible dinner was actually vegetarian I noticed at the end of day I was really agitated I mean downright edge of insanity. I had a very stressful day at work and blamed it there Today I am having moderate workday but it's 2 pm and I am ready to rip people into 50,000 pieces. I am so sick of bs I just want to punch someone in the face. Oh my flipping lord! And the back pain from losing 14 pounds in last 10 days is excruciating I can't find a comfortable sitting standing or laying position. And the stress is making it worse. No loss of energy. No headaches. Just really pissed off, a little hungry not a lot, and ugh!!!! I am gonna go take a Xanax Like seriously. Not expecting this -
Ex-Friend Keeps Writing Negatively About Me on Different Blogs and Web Sites
Jersrose43 replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sorry. I am going against the grain here. Can't throw stones at her about talking about you if you come on here and repost what she's saying. You're both causing each other pain. Either let it go and move on. Or keep posting about her and what she says. Reinforcing her message. After you stop posting about her- and I mean permanently - and she continues - document when you last posted and copy all her posts to paper. Take it to a lawyer and send her a cease and desist letter and if she continues sue her. If you continue to post about her you have no leg to stand on -

Day 2 pre op. I am the biggest b***h alive?
Jersrose43 replied to Jersrose43's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No not kidneys - definitely back pain and lots of it When I was pregnant I would get sciatica pain as my weight changed and it almost feels like that. My leg is getting tingles and shooting pains down it from my back. -
I echo a lot of folks' comments. I think your surgeon did you wrong. Maybe he doesn't think so. He knows you and your family obviously. Maybe he is doing studies on imbrication. Who knows. A lot of folks on here who paid cash are probably really jealous right now. Those of us with insurance are dumbfounded on your behalf. Whatever sounds like you were done wrong. You need to think long and hard about your next steps. Removal will need tobe by this surgeon and he's gonna have to get creative on how to tell your insurance and the hospital what he's doing.

Cigna 90 days medically supervised weight management
Jersrose43 replied to Luigi5144's topic in Insurance & Financing
If your employer purchased a rider it may require the medical records. But not usually for cigna -
I just did a look up and saw a video of this. Sounds awesome. However not around long enough to know long term results. And insurances don't cover the procedure He did it because you were covered for hernia and you got this extra for free basically. Did you get any form of nutritional counseling or any guidance in advance?

Insurance or Self-Pay?
Jersrose43 replied to Kooky1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not pre existing condition that applies. It's a clause in many insurances (read your policy fine print) that states complications arising from non covered non authorized procedures are not their responsibility. Many policies have it, many do not. Read yours front to back -

Insurance or Self-Pay?
Jersrose43 replied to Kooky1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not sure what the rush is nor the issue Is there something wrong with the center of excellence or is it just the longer weight. Have you considered at least going for 1 visit to a surgeon there and exploring the option? I am not sure how long you've considered this but this is life changing and sometimes a 3-6 month prep for it isn't the end of the world.
