Who did you tell about your surgery? Friends, coworkers?
Jersrose43 replied to happymama2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was clear with everyone what I was doing, that it was a personal decision that was right for me and not for everyone. I don't need the negative nellies and I need supportive commentary only -
Not true. Sleevers have dumping. I loved to tell about it. Too much oil for me and too much sugar. It was out the 'end' rather quickly

Ditto. Nasty stuff

HSA can cover part of VSG!?!
Jersrose43 replied to RellaBelle's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Just because the HSA paid for it doesn't mean it is "covered" under the IRS rules. HSA accounts are really self policing for many things, those debit cards will work in many locations because technology isn't perfect. You can't use it at a gas station but you can use it at Walgreens. But walgreens can't limit what you actually charge to it many times. Just because technology works doesn't mean it follows the IRS intent. So keep receipts and if you're audited - good luck. -
HSA can cover part of VSG!?!
Jersrose43 replied to RellaBelle's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am using my HSA It's a medical procedure covered or not by insurance isn't a rule. It's medical, it's necessary, it's in the rule. As to what to prepare no one will question you on what you paid for. The only time it will come up is if the IRS chooses to audit you. Keep medical records of how much etc What is not covered is flights, companion expenses, over the counter items without a prescription. But hospital, surgeon, anesthesia charges etc are all covetable expenses. You can either pay with your debit card, cut a check to the facility from the account or if you don't have enough in there today ---- pay them another way and then either withdraw the funds as a debit or cut yourself a check for the balance. You are allowed to pay yourself back! Best part pre tax funds for the most part. -
Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty
Jersrose43 replied to H3LP's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are using insurance to pay for it- find out who in your area is in the book. Go to various surgeons' seminars and see which one you like. Your insurance may/may not have requirements for you to follow. 3 month, 6 month, 1 year weight loss documentation with a physician Call your insurance and find out now before you go down the path -

Cheating on Pre-Op
Jersrose43 replied to mamaofmatthew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course I did! The first two days I did not and thought I would die Then about a week in I had the cheese off a half slice of pizza. Woops. Then 5 days before a fried chicken wing. Nothing to cause serious damages. I was on 2 shakes a day and 1 high Protein meal a day. As many raw veggies as I wanted. Lost 15 pounds and after day 3. Was not really hungry. -
What an awesome idea. Freeze the stinkers Isopure is definitely gross

Did you keep your surgery a secret?
Jersrose43 replied to MrsHegarty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone knows here. I told everyone. And so far most have been great. The negative bellies were asked to zip it. -
It's early in the process. My doc told me early on he's be happy around 24 ounces of Water and you build slowly Just sip sip sip. You can also do Isopure drinks which have 40 grams of protein
-
It depends on where they opened the uterus. My sil has had 6 c's and is full of scars and needs hernia surgery. Doc said normally an hour or less but since she's had so many c's he's not sure if it's clean to move around or not. Also depends on other factors like endometriosis etc
