This doesn't sound Kosher. I would ask your surgeon to request a peer to peer review. Or review what they submitted showing you did indeed lose steadily. Did they not show the net LOSS? sorry this isn't making sense. I know they're crazy but this is odd

It's really an insurance requirement on the weight loss. Talk to the carrier or the surgeons office. Whatever you do - don't gain weight
-
Depends on the employer purchasing the plan Go to the u if you're near Ann Arbor of course

My doctor says that gastric banding is a waste of time.
Jersrose43 replied to tljohan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a sleeve patient and started the journey only looking at the band. I went down the sleeve route because : 1- I know myself really well. I will fail without permanent restriction. 2- lap band is a foreign body with a port forever. Or at least until it fails. So positive thinking. That port in my abdomen forever. Ew. Gross. 3- bypass - couldn't stand the idea of being rerouted. Sleeves have been around a long time for wls and ulcer surgery. I didn't mind losing a piece of a pesky organ If your insurance doesn't cover it. Talk to your employer about other insurance options. They also have the ability sometimes of telling your insurance what will/won't be covered. Depends on if they are big enough to self fund. If it's pro at insurance look for other options out there. -

Regergitation? What the heck?
Jersrose43 replied to Roostertail2's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have regurgitation. And acid reflux due to this most likely. It is not all the time, it's never more and 2-3 ounces and I have been keeping my log for it. So I have it nailed down to the following : 1 - eating too much too soon after a full tummy of liquid. Tummy full of liquid won't take food. It won't go all the way down. Comes up 2- just plain eating too fast! I try my best but I am still challenged by eating slow. 3- eating when I am hungry. I over eat This one is easy have moved to scheduling meals at certain intervals and that way not hungry or hangry It helps a lot. -
I did centrum from day 1

Does your job not have a short term disability option? You should have applied for it. I don't understand why so many people take PTO or unpaid leave. Explore all options. If you don't have short term, if you are in the us, you are still protected by the FMLA laws. You can be off up to 6 weeks with no pay. I believe depends on how big your compnay is I would highly suggest you speak to HR about your rights and entitlements. -
Was I emotional or justified? Lost a friend
Jersrose43 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So u reconnected several years ago with an old high school friend. She had gained a lot of weight and we saw eah other at weight watchers. I lost 12 pounds in 6 months and she lost 50. Fast forward 5 years we're good friends. Hang out at least once a month and she went in vaca with me to Florida this spring. She's lost 80 pounds and still has 150 to go and determined. I have supported her the whole way. She started teaching Zumba I started going with her and telling people about her classes, for instance. She is single I have a family She is bitter about past issues, lives In the past can't get over past hurts some real some perceived. I am blunt and tell her she had to get over these things to move on. She just can't. Can't get over a divorce from 18 years ago, wrongs done by a friend in high school 25 years ago, and just bitter. Frankly the bitterness has been getting to me a lot, especially since surgery. When I told her I was doing this she was completely negative - I know blah blah regained it all blah blah. I should get lap band and consider that first or come to more Zumba and go vegetarian as she did and lose 80 pounds. Well that is not what works for me. A few weeks ago we were at a friends and she was watching me eat and was super critical in my opinion She would never have this because look at my sacrifice and stupidity of this "diet". And how I would have to eat animal flesh forever etc etc Last week she critiqued my ALS bucket challenge. Basically posted on my Facebook that people who do it are stupid idiots. Mknd you I dedicated it to my father in law whondied of ALS 2 years ago. So two nights ago I responded to her post of how she has followers on Facebook and how to correct it. She posts her Zumba stuff and her friends do as well and people follow her. She responds that it was twitter and doesn't use it. So I say deactivate the account. Her response ... Duh if I wanted to deactivate it I would. And proceeds to ask if any other friends can respond. Really? I felt dismissed, offended and said so and responded she didn't have to be such a jerk about it. I then defriended her and unfollowed her on FB. I sent her an email that she had hurt my feelings. And what I got back was that I had called her a name and saw only my side. And that I should go hang our with some of those old HS friends she still has I'll feelings toward. Like really? Is it my emotions or am I crazy? I just don't feel supported and she is bitter. She has never asked me how I feel how I am doing just criticized that one meal quite extensively. -
Was I emotional or justified? Lost a friend

Thank you guys. I've really not hidden this surgery and everyone has been so supportive in my life or they've chosen not to say anything. Which is also fine. This is the first friend who has been critical There ore other things hat I've done for her that I didn't go into I have lost many friends over the years and made new ones. We all change. I like to think I put myself out there for my friends and my husband even criticizes that i give a lot to my fiends that he wishes he would get sometimes. So when I am accused of being unsupportive and criticized after being so supportive it really really really hurts. I am feeling hurt but sad as well as I don't think she will ever change. I tried to get her there to no avail -

Just Starting Out - Have a couple of questions
Jersrose43 replied to Mrs. Reid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I paid my deductible on most of the pre-op requirements so I basically everyone money still and am paying them off. The hospital who did he surgery got the out of pocket coinsurance charged and that maxed me out for the year. I haven't gotten their bill yet but plan on paying them over time as well. I have about $2600 of my deductible owing to doc and hospital for endoscopy and $3000 coinsurance to hospital who did the sleeve. Evryone else I have managed to pay off since I've been workings on the all year. I have $4500 deductible and $4500 coinsurance yearly. So 9,000 total. No way I could have paid any of that up front. -

HOW is eating different post sleeve - don't you miss it?
Jersrose43 replied to lovelyme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been hungry since the get go. Not head hunger but I have that too. I go to restaraunts a lot - I bring home leftovers and it works out really well. I make different choices than in the past. Such as I never order a burger. Haven't had one yet and sleeve was 6/24. I crave one desperately but when I see or smell it or someone orders it. I just yuck. I tend to stick to fish when eating out for some reason. My head just naturally goes there. Or appetizers if they're not deep fried. I eat evry 2 1/2 hours or so and very very little. Up to 4 ounces depending on what it is. I do not miss the quantity of food I used to eat. I do however notice how much everyone else around me eats and think it is so much food ! Went to a friends last night for dinner and like wow. How fast they all ate and how much. It was flabbergasting. I've lost 47 pounds since starting my journey. -

Outpatient - Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Jersrose43 replied to Toodie1974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I was in a room and no was not inpatient. I work in insurance and have access to my insurance billings. They billed outpatient 138 coding and I was in a room, in a bed, and it was billed as a recovery room not inpatient Outpatient is considered a 24-72 hour stay. Some hospitals keep you in same day surgery unit that long, some send you up to a room. Depends on hospital and the type of space they have.
