I have seen many women do this and lose out on life long friendships!M.A.G.: What do you think of the images of Black women's friendships in media where we're pitted against one another, often over men?M.A.: The sister bonds have been weakened. I tell young women that it's not smart to put your ace girlfriends to the side because you have a man in your life. Like my mother would say, "Men come and go. But your women friends are always there for you." Even if you and he are together for 50 years, you still need your sisters.
