To be filled, or not to be filled...
jkitch posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning my fellow banders!!! It has been a little over 3 months since my surgery and I am down 35lbs. I go for another follow up visit on July 10th and I am trying to decide if I want to get another fill, I have 3.5cc in my band now as it is... I'm restricted but I don't find it drastic. I have been "stuck" a few times and I totally know what I did wrong. Not many things bother me and I think this could be a good/bad thing. How did you know you needed another fill? I can drink any amount of Fluid and I am most definitely eating a whole lot less then I was before but I feel like maybe I should add just a little bit more to my band so I can loose some more weight and maybe even faster? It's so hard not to compare WLS stories especially when all I want is to be successful! This is an example of what I can eat.. I didn't have Breakfast yesterday because I was super busy at work, but for lunch I had a turkey sandwhich (4oz) on whole wheat bread with American cheese (2oz) with some mayo, lettuce and tomato and a .99 bag of kettle cooked chips (took me 2 hours to eat) and then I had 4oz grilled chicken over a Cesar salad with some crutons and parm cheese.. And 3 cocktails after my softball game ???? (stoli blueberry with sugar free lemonade!) -
To be filled, or not to be filled...

Thanks for all the input guys! I am thinking to go for another little fill... Today I had a Greek yogurt for breakfast, a small salad with a scoop of tuna fish, 2 cups salt free popcorn (I love popcorn), a Protein smoothie after the gym and then I had a salad for dinner with some grilled chicken, some nuts and raisins and a low fat vinegarette... Calories total for the day: 1,468. My goal on "myfitnesspal" is 1700... How many calories do you all try to take in a day? -
So tomorrow I get my first adjustment. It will be done at my work (I work in a hospital, in radiology.) Any suggestions as to what I should pack in lunch box? I want to be preparers and I don't know what to expect after my adjustment. Thanks in advance!

Ok I am going to confess. I barley tracked what I ate this week, I went out to dinner 3 times, and I am eating carbs more. I normally weigh in on Fridays but I am ashamed and don't want to step on the scale tomorrow. I don't want to get discouraged if I gained... My first adjustment is May 12th. I feel like I am slowly converting to my old ways...

Thank you all for your encouragement! It is just what I needed!

I was banded 4 weeks ago, and I am down 25 pounds! I am super happy and I feel the results ready. I am scheduled 4/29 for my first band adjustment but I am nervous. I feel like I can eat a lot now? I thought I would feel more restriction. Not really sure what to expect...

Thank youuu! I'm very happy with my decision :-)

How much weight did you lose in 4 weeks?
jkitch replied to MozzaWehsha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 26 years old, 5"10 and I have a desk job. I am not very active. I didn't have a pre-op diet and I weighed in at 343. A month after surgery I weighed 318. Totaling a 25 pound loss. I followed my liquid/jello/sugar free pudding/protein drink diet for 2 weeks. Around day 9 I had about 1/3 of an omelette and some mashed potatoes, then I progressed and had yogurt, cottage cheese, Soups, etc. I have my first fill next week. I bought a nutrabullet and downloaded the "my fitness plan" app- they are some useful tools. Good luck! -
That's normal. Sometimes emergency cases get added to the OR schedule and not-so emergent cases get bumped back. Good luck tomorrow!

Hi all, This is my first thread. I was banded on March 10, 2014. Today I am 10 days post op. I lost 13.8 pounds so far! This is very exciting for me BUT I AM HUNGRY! I can consume more then 4oz every hour and I won't lie.. I had a few bites of food (scrambled egg, a few bites of a mashed potato ..) I never got the "stuck" feeling and I took small bites and was satisfied. Am I horrible?! What did you eat 10 days post-op?
-
I think that is wonderful! How do you feel? I try to remind myself it is just a number. Today I am one month post op, 25 lbs gone forever. I found myself stepping on the scale like everyday until I thought about it. I am taking in way less, I haven't had an adjustment yet, I feel good and I am motivated- the scale is just a number. My clothes fit nicer and my overall spirits are higher!

I'm not sure if I had ANY fill during surgery, which I should find out. I don't know if it's my motivation now telling me to eat smaller portions or if it's really my band lol. Tomorrow I am 3 weeks post op and tonight was my first meal out... I had a French onion soup, half of a salad with some chicken and a split a cheesecake with my friend (this was over a 2 hour period) and now I feel guilty, but honestly if I didn't have the band I feel like I would have had wings, a salad and a meal and dessert so... I'm thinking I am restricted and motivated haha

Hello! Awesome you live so close to me!! My doctor only gave me a week off because he is like speedy Gonzales. I had a rough time bending the first day or two because I'm a nursing assistant in the maternity unit and I still had some pain meds to get me through. I was fine well after 2 weeks. So far, I have lost about 20 lbs and its been almost two months. Haven't seen any weight loss in a few weeks though. I have an appointment Monday though and I'm hoping for another fill. I only have 3 CC's now but I feel hungry all of the time which kind of sucks : / Do the fills hurt? How long were you on liquids after the surgery? I go back Tuesday! I don't want to haha. I had 2 weeks off. First time ever! I lost 13.8 so far, and I feel like I am hungry all the time.. I can def drink more then 4oz every hour -

Hi Wendy! I am 26 and from West Milford. I just had the lap band on 3/10. I had it done by Dr. Gritsus at Chilton Medical Center (we just merged with AHS!) How much time did you take off work? What do you do there?
