Ok so this thread probably belongs somewhere else but oh well...I want to know what did you have to do before the surgeon said they would do the surgery? Like i heard about psych testing and losing a certain amount of your weight and some other things. what is your experience? I would like to know. So i know what to expect if any of the above or any other things get in the way. Thanks! :thumbup:

ok so my mom is looking at a doctor in Manchester. Dr. Connie Campbell. Has anyone had her? is she good? I hope she does teens or will help me in some way.

umm well thats the thing i live in the "sticks" wayy in NH (pretty much middle of nowhere) and my parents dont have the time to drive me very far away i mean i heard about a few good sergions my moms going to talk to and i prayy they let us. I also believe my mothers insurance wants me to be 18 but im not sure if thats what she said or not lol My doctor is not helping at all she keeps saying we have to be the ones to do everything so its putting more pressure on me. All i want is to have this done and not have to wait for a veryy long time. I really want this SOOO much. But there arnt many other teens my age on here most are 18 and older so its frusterating lol

Well I am 17 and have posted questions concerning the Lap Band before my mom has given me consent to do this and I am reallyyyy looking forward to this but there is a problem. My mother called my doctor and the doctor told her she needs to find someone that will do this surgery on an underage person. I live in New Hampshire and would like to know if anyone knows a doctor willing to do this on me being 17. It makes me sad that even with mine and my mothers consent that some wont i know its a surgery but I really want this more than anyone could ever understand. It's so hard to be young and be big because high school is not fun being like this. So any help is very appreciated! Thank You!

I am 17 and weigh about 270 now and I keep gaining and cant lose no matter what I do. I live with my parents who are average and I am the big one in the family. I have read a lot about this LapBand and yes I also was looking online about the Oprah show that was on yesterday. I really want this and my mom is backing me up. I am on her insurance so i dont worry about the money for it as much. But my question is do you think I am too young for this? I don't considering the age of consent is 18 and my birthday is August. But I would like to know your opinion on it though. Thank You.

This has probably been asked but I have been hearing about it and want to hear more. How many of you are having issues with giving up foods? is it hard? I keep hearing how there is a lot to deal with, some getting depressed after some having a hard time giving up things. What has changed so much in your life after getting this surgery? What is the importance of talking to a psychologist about this? I have heard a lot of people go to one before and after but why what is the psychologist needed for? Thanks these are just questions that pop in my mind when i read some comments and threads. Again I am only 17 and I want to learn as much I can before I get it. Any answers will be appreciated.

I know its a big commitment but i am ready and willing to do what it takes for this! being young and overweight is very hard these days its not as accepted even though its becoming bigger in society. The only problem with these doctors is I am only 17 and not many of them do the surgery on minors(I dont see why 17 is too much harm) but my birthday is in August. But I sure will tell my mom about this doctor and have her give her a call!

Im on my mothers insurance and I believe it will cover it she has one of the best. Thank you for the places I will be sure to look around!

thank you very much that is helpful I will have my mom call the her insurance company the only problem about leaving the country is getting to the place(money wise) and my mom not wanting to. I will talk to her about though to see if we have to.

Hop to it- when my mom called the doctor she said my mother had to find doctors she didnt suggest any.

:help:well im 17 years old and weigh 250 and considering the lap band procedure...im a bit scared and have been reading manyyy posts about it....but i want to ask a few questions of my own and get some of my own stuff figured out....my moms insurance covers it...I am being homeschooled for this year if i do do this so that way it doesnt interfere with school in anyway then i will go back during my next year(as a senior in high school) ok sooooo... god i dont even know where to start.... if anyone answers any of them i will be veryyyy happy! :eek: when you apply to get the lap band how long does it take for them to let you get it? do you have to lose weight first? does it really hurt that bad? i can deal with quite a bit of pain but i dont want to be in agony.... is it really hard to have only liquids? im scared i wont be able to hold my urges back did anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have a certain thing they had to give up for this surgery? how hard was it? I am a bigg soda drinker does anyone have any suggestions on how to cut it back before the surgery? What are some problems people have been having due to this surgery? has anything been stressfull? Does this really work? if i do get it can i count on loosing some weight? I mean i know it comes in due time but how long does it take? weeks months years? lol i know alot of questions but i really need to get some of them answered to help me decide...still going... anyone my age got it done and succeeded? are the cravings really hard to overcome? do you have to have a certain BMI to get it done? if some people my age read this can you give me tips on how you got through it? does anyone puke after a few days getting used to not eating so much? How is sleeping, sitting, going to the bathroom and so forth? is it hard? and lastly for now.... is it all worth it? have most of you had success or not? well thats all i can think of at the moment i know i have more lol...i know people have different preffrences on things and different ways but i want to hear how others did it and how they feel and how they got through it thank you all verryyyyy much...i dont look at this as a cure all but i think it could help my self esteem and how i feel about the way i look and being in high school its really hard....:help:
