I feel disappointed because I really thought surgery would help with the issue of eating etc. having a small stomach will help me feeling full? I'm confuse -

In in the same boat I have to lose 10 lbs before Submitting my papers! I can't do it! My doctor want to see a change to make sure I can support my life change whatever!!!!!! I feel like I'm ready to give up. I tried the shakes but then I get hungry for real food. Sorry I don't have a solution -
My pre op is taking for ever! The doctor said I have to lose 10% of my weight. 4 months ago, I been going there to check my weight and for now I lost just 6 lbs, today they said well you can lose 5% of your weight so go and lose 7 more lbs? I'm hungry and I can't lose weight! They told me is an insurance requirement, my bmi is 36 I have sleep apnea. On top of me losing weight then I'll have to be on a 2 week shake before surgery? I'll never make it. I should have went with booths and weight to my legs on my first weight in, so couple months later I would have just taking off the weight. Grrrr this process makes me more hungry!!!!

Thank you all for your advise and understanding. Weight has been a struggle all my life. I did talked to a therapist for insurance purpose, but let's be realistic 1 hr appt will never be enough to address my emotional eating. I think should be a requirement to help this process to meet 4/5 time before surgery. When I say I can't do this! Is because I lost weight in the pass many many time, 2011 I lost 60lbs on weight watchers and 5 days exercise. Then some how I stopped working out etc and regain all my weight back . I need a tool to help me. I'll look into those books. -

Also the medical assistant who check me in today, said there are people bigger then you that lose weight why could you do it? I was so mad! I told her you don't know me and can't talk to me like that! I made a complaint to the doctor about her. This is a bariatric center, no one should be judging in there. -
Pre op program

They told me that insurance looks at my bmi when I started but is the doctor who requires me to lose 5% because he want to see I'm committed to change style! If I had the strength to lose weight in my own why would I risk my life on a surgery like this????? I started today and by dinner time I already fall of the wagon! Probably I'm going to start again on Monday! But one question is on the back of my mind after surgery how am I going to keep good off my face? -
They were not severe, he was never prescribed a CPac machine, but he knew he had a mild sleep apnea. I'm not sure his numbers.

I don't want to scare you, but I have a friend who had sleep apnea problems, but he didn't have a cpac machine, well after waking up fine from surgery he went to a coma because lack of oxygen in his brain due to apnea or pulmonary function. So way a little more and make sure you are cleared from all the doctors.

A medical assistant works in the medical field. I'm a medical assistant and I assist with many medical skills, you said you are a nurse so you should know. I went to a medical Assistant school for 10 months in Southern California. So please don't say that a MA is not working in the medical field. There is different levels of jobs. But they are all in the medical field.

What this has to do with this forum? Who cares if you are a nurse, doctor or CNA etc? We are all here to help and support each other. And no way can give a medical advise, we can all share our experience, but people need to follow their own Doctors prescription and directions!

That's a terrible thing to do! This is not a good doctor. I'm so sorry you have to endure this disappointment. Maybe is for the better, you don't want any complications. Good luck, I hope you can soon have your surgery done!

Yesterday I went to the nutritionist appt. And I told her I love food. And she said: why are you doing this surgery? Said what???? She looked at me like I should have try again to lose weight on my own. I explain that in 35 yrs I tried several times. She told me I have to lose 10% of my weight and I have to start eating small, biting food 15 times, and drink a shake in the morning. But I can't do that otherwise I'll be going on a diet again on my own. ( this is not the 2 weeks prior surgery) I'm still in the pre op phase and I don't even have a surgery date. Do I really have to love 10% to get my surgery approved or I can just show that I tried?

10% weight lost?
italianmomma replied to italianmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your responses. I do t have a surgery day yet, it's a long process here. I guess they want me to start thinking and eating as I already had surgery. To get my body use it. This is not the 2 weeks before surgery protein or liquid diet. I'm still months away from surgery. -
10% weight lost?
italianmomma replied to italianmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think they are trying to see if I really want to change! But I been thinking about surgery for 4 yrs and been obese for all my life. I did lose 60lbs in 2011 and got all back to this day. Is so frustrating when I feel people don't understand why I need a surgery. ???? -
Hello everyone, I'm new to this group. I'm still at my first surgeon appt. Waiting now for nutrition and psych appt. In April. My second surgeon appt is May 1. I'm thinking about my sleeve a lot, I'm worry about missing food. I'm eating a lot of food, more then usual thinking I will not be able to eat those things anymore. Is this normal? I'm feeling emotional about not be able to eat all the food I love.
