Yup ive done the depo...............i gained like 25 pounds in 4 months...and never stopped gaining until i got off it.....thanks tho

I was toild i couldnt lift my daughter for 2 weeks after surgery, she is 22 pounds. My dr. said if you have to strain to pick anything up then dont do it. But i been picking my daughter up with ease lately...no strain at all...

Hi, Im Krystal, Im 22 yr old female from saint Louis, Missouri. I am 380 lbs and 5'4. Seems like on everyones before surgery weight i am still the biggest one here. I do not have the lap-band yet, but soon, i am waiting on the surgery center to call me to schedule the appointment so it shall be soon! My story: Ive always been heavy throughout my entire life but it was never really serious until i was about 18 yrs old. My mother left me when i was 2yrs old and i know of her and have seen her but dont KNOW her, if you know what i mean. So i was raised by my father who was an on the go dad who did a lot of fast food and eating at classy restaurants. I was never tought to make good food descisions. Good food to me was food that tastes good. The damage was done. I remember eating twinkies as a little girl for Breakfast. One morning when i was like 5 i noticed that St Nick had never come and my shoe at the door was empty(if you dont know what im talkin about u can email me) so anyway i ran and told my dad that St. Nick never came and he told me to go to my room because he heard him comming....when i came out of my room there was a twinkie in my shoe. Go figure right! So ever since i was 16 or so i have not touched a twinkie because ive had my fill. I was about a 16-18 up until Junior year of High School. Then i got with an abusive boyfriend and resorted to food. I gained almost 100 lbs in less than 1 1/2 years. By the time i got rid of the boyfriend i was almost a sz 22. I stayed that way until 2 years later when the stress of starting, stopping, and not finishing colllege started playing on my nerves and i went to a size 24. I met a guy name Kyle who is now my Fiance on Feb 14th 2003. We became pregnant Oct 2003 and i had a little girl named Chloe Nichole June 30, 2004. My delivering weight was 350+ i cant tell you what it was because the Dr's scale only went to 350. So its been 11 months since the baby and im at my all time high of 380 lbs and a size 30-32. Im miserable. I dont feel up to doing much with my daughter. Thank god shes not walkin yet, i dont know if id have the energy to chase her. I work part time on weekends as a newspaper RE-delivery carrier, and im a Stay and home mom during the week. I would work and do something productive IF I COULD. We went to Grants Farm(for those of u that dont know, its like a mini zoo) the other day and i could hardly get through it without feeling miserable and having knee pain. I used to drive a 2001 Yellow Mustang that was completely done up with stripes and yellow interior, i won awards with it....well i had to give that up when i got pregnant because i was getting too big to fit in the Mustang....my excuse to everyone else was that it was unsafe for the baby to be in. IM NOT LOOKING FOR A PITTY PARTY...im simply telling my story and how i got to be where i am. Excercise is near impossible for me right now because im so big. Simple things like going to the bathroom is becomming a task all in its self. I NEED this surgery if im to survive to see my daughter grow up. I have great support from my Fiance and we are getting married September 17th of this year! So maybe i can sport a 360 pound body instead of 380 for the wedding...who knows..... I want to thank all of you that read this....this was one of my own personal journeys to take the steps and backtrack where all this began. Im ready for change...and im proud of all of you that have already gone through this and succeeded. Thank you for reading and listening to my story!

Im 22!!! I was banded June 2nd

In my opinion i think that would mean that your ready for your first fill. My Dr told me anytime im gaining that means i need a fill.

My band date was June 2. So when can i start swimming....i love gettin in the pool....i keep getting mixed answers.... also, what if i put like waterproof bandaids over my incisions...they are really small.... Please someone tell me when i can finally get some real rays!

The kind of swimming im talkin about right now is wading in the pool with my 11month old daughter. I just wanna be in the water and relax with her....but i wont start the auquacise class for awhile. I just want some rays in the pool...sniff sniff

I cheated 3 times before my surgery with double cheese burgers.....i told my Dr, he says it is ok but it isnt recommended. I also told everyone on this site and they told me id be fine...AND I WAS!!!

Thank you all for your input. I will wait. I did talk to the Dr's Secretary. This Dr specializes in Bariatrics and he has two secretaries that get the room ready but thats it...so they arnt nurses.....they dont know much except whats in the pamphlet.(sp)

Can i get an infection even if the wounds are closed?

IMO i think that you are on the smaller end of the scale and 15 pounds is a great success. Dont be miserable, get your fill adjusted so you can be healthy...Some people have had the band for over a year and have only lost 30 pounds.,.....but they also are smaller to begin with. Think of it this way...thats 15 lost NOT gained!!!

10 days for sure?I called my Dr office and the lady said 6-8 weeks......i think shes crazy! I cant believe 6-8 weeks....she also said she could be wrong and i should wait and talk to the dr when i see him on the 7th of july. Blah! I wanna swim before then!!!

Ok so now that im a new lapbander im having these HORRIBLE pains on my right side....Dr says its the side of my port...i cant feel my port but i havnt much tried because it hurts to touch on that side. The side with most the incisions doesnt hurt at all...so whats my major problem? I been takin this medication the Dr gave me that i have to shoot up my nose and it knocks me out and makes the pain go away....but now anytime im awake the pain is here.....it reminds me of when i had my c-section...only hurts when i standup and if im walkin around too much...so standing up and sitting down are hard for me... Anyone else have this problem? How long does it take to go away? Any suggestions?

My Dr says it all depends on the person. I think even tho im in alot of pain i could sit at a computer all day. Just moving hurts the worst. It really will depend on the person.

OMG!!! You always hear the saying "you didnt gain it overnight, its not gonna dissappear over night" Well.... It really is dropping overnight!!! May 12th i had my first consult with the Dr and i weighed in at 380 May 26th I had pre-op testing and i weighed in at 375 June 2nd was surgery day and i weighed in at 363 June 5th i weighed in at 362.1 June 6th i weighed in at 359, then right before i went to bed i was 357...i drank alot too...hehe June 7th TODAY!! This morning i weighed in at 355.2. I cant believe it. Im gonna stop weighing daily tho because i know this will eventually stop/platuae(sp) and then i will be bumbed. Im drinkin plenty of Water and doing what im suppost to but because of my pain im not excercising yet. The only difference i notice right now is that my double chin is slowly melting away. I cant believe this!!!! I know im losing a little more than alot of people because im bigger and have more weight to lose......im so excited!!!!

I called my Dr and the office told me that pain is different with everyone. They said i should be just fine and to take the meds he has given me. They said one of the patiants that was banded on friday was back to work building decks on saturday....is that crazy or what!!! So i go into the dr on thurs and hopefully by then ill be able to drive...because right now these meds are kickin my butt!

Im still in pain today...really really sore. My big incision is on the right and all my little incisions are on the left. I see the Dr on Thursday so im gonna try and hold off until then. I cant do any lifting and i cant hardly bend over....still hurts to go potty from sitting and standing from the toilet.....i get some chest pains too but i think thats mostly gas...i dunno.....but today i weighed and im 359 so ive lost 4 since the surgery....

Im in need of some serious help. Im on day 2 of clear liquid before surgery diet. Im craving anything right now, its like im imagining a double cheese burger this is horrible. I keep telling myself i can do this i can do this.......but i feel so empty. I eat a sugerfree juice popsicle everytime i get the craving to go in the fridge... Does anyone know of anything with substance thats a clear liquid? Funny huh... Can i eat watermelon plain on a clear liquid diet? Watermelon is kinda like a clear liquid. This is like a drug addiction and i need my fix...sniff sniff....i hope this gets better...i just keep thinking new clothes...new life....thinner body.....movie theater seats.....omg......

Well yay for me! I DID IT! I dunno what all you people were talkin about that it was easy as pie. Granted the surgery didnt take long at all but i was miserable all day after surgery yesterday. I went in at 530am....had the surgery at 730 and all i can remember from there was waking up at 10am in recovery. Then they took me to my room and i fell asleep from all the meds i was on. I slept on and off til like 7pm...then i was finally awake....watched some tv and then went back to bed. Nurses came in like 4 times from then on til 7am and i had just gotten to sleep for a good and was having a good dream and the dang radiologist came in and got me for my upper GI. YUCK YUCK YUCK is what i say about that. All went well for that tho...and so they gave me some Clear Liquids and told me if i could get those down then i was free to go. So i did it and didnt have any problems getting it down....and now im home. I do have pain i will admit. My right side hurts like hell...the dr said thats my port side....the left side doesnt hurt at all and it has most the little insicions. So the Dr gave me some pain meds that get shit up my nose....ewwww...i told myself i wasnt gonna use that but when i got home i was beggin for something so i broke down and now ive got it. Best decision i made it helped me sleep all afternoon and took the edge off my aches. I would have to say everyone at the Hospital was great and overall i would definately do it again. This pain is nuthin compared to the pain i had with my C-section for my daughter. I lost 12 pounds in the one week for my clear liquid diet!!!! Thats exciting!!! Im gonna go lay down a bit again...i am kinda groggy still...but thanks to all of you for all the good luck wishes i got!!!!
