Not getting enough protein, calories, or liquid
Lindsay_W89 replied to moneal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the same issues after surgery. I only had to do 40g of protein in my clear liquid phase. Just do the best you can! You'll get to a point where you can drink more at one time! Hang in there it gets better!! -
Into ok a few weeks slowly and rested up then eased back into a routine! Never thought I would be so happy to not want a nap after grocery shopping lol!!!

This Friday will be 4 weeks sleeved. A week ago today I had my gallbladder out. I am so exhausted all the time. Just showering, fixing my hair, and putting on makeup wears me out enough that I could easily take a nap. When I walk I get winded, and I'm dizzy. I really think that I am anemic. Has anyone else had problems with anemia? If so how did your surgeon treat it?

Sorry it's been so long since I posted! He prescribes weekly b-12 injections and I got another round of "protein, protein, protein" I am feeling so much better now and I have so much energy!!! Thanks you all for the suggestions and y'all are right. I think I was expecting to bounce back after my gallbladder surgery like I did with my sleeve

I have an appointment with him tomorrow I hate to bring stuff up because he likes to admit me since I love 3 hours from him. I know he does it to make sure but I can't keep living in the hospital! Either way I'll tell him about it maybe I just need to do b-12 injections instead of my Sublingual pills. I think some of it is being hard on myself, I did so great after my sleeve I was expecting this go around to be similar.... But it hasn't :/

Today is 20 days post op, had my gallbladder taken out yesterday. Let me tell you my sleeve surgery was no where near as painful as this surgery. My IV's keep going bad. In 3 days I have had 10 sticks, mainly from nurses trying to reestablish a line, which is how I was receiving my liquid gold (Demerol) and of course the nurses cannot get ahold of the Dr on call so here I am laying in a hospital bed, bloated like no other, and in pain. Lord please let me go home tomorrow!

how do you know if something got "stuck" in your sleeve?

Today started a new phase of my diet. i got to go to soft foods, and on one of my foods lists it said i could have melba toast. So me thinking about protein i also added some laughing cow swiss cheese (the spreadable kind) and a small amount of turkey. Now all i can say is that it just doesn't feel the same.... and i dont know if that is because only 1/2 of a crakcer filled me up or if it is stuck.... hellllppp?!?!?! -
The worst part of today is the exhaustion. I have slept the better part of the day away. Went to the grocery store for maybe 30 minutes and i was just overwhelmed by how tired i became. Pain is better today, it seems to be at it's worst when i first wake up and late in the evening. Thank you all for your words of encouragement. Today was actually my day to advance to crunchy toast, tilapia, mashed potatoes and so forth. I think my melba toast got stuck so i think i am going to stay away from bread products for now. I have a co-worker who did not follow the diet at all and nothing ever got stuck for her but here i am doing what i am supposed to do and a piece of toast gets stuck.... bless it lol!!! Oh well i will try it again in a few weeks!!! I guess oatmeal, grits, and mashed potatoes will be my friend for a little bit till i feel my stomach can handle it. Hope everyone is well! Ya'll have a great weekend!!!

how do you know if something got "stuck" in your sleeve?

OK thank God! that's exactly what i did. i also threw up some but that was just my bodies reaction i think. Thank you so much for your quick reply!!! No more melba toast for a while! -
Tomorrow I get to start my mashed potatoes and soft fish diet! I am so stinkin excited!!! Bring on the tilapia!!

The gallbladder surgery was 20 times worse than my sleeve was. By this point in my sleeve recovery I only took pain meds maybe twice a day... This go around I take it every 6 hours.... And I honestly think it is because my body has been through so much! I am also very tired which wasn't the case with my VSG either. But I am thankful for being young and having a great support system who are all there no matter what when I need them ! An yes I am trying to keep a positive outlook on this! If The Lord meant for me to have the bypass his will will be done! But I'm going to do my darnedest to do everything I can to prevent another surgery! That way if I do have to do the bypass atleast I can say I have given it my everything!!!
-
Later I now have my IV back so I can have my pain meds and Reglan again. Found out this morning that I have biliary reflux. So I'm going home with lots of new meds and prayers that it will get better or they will have to do a gastric bypass. So I have to hit the low fat diet hard because I sure don't want the bypass surgery.

It wasn't scheduled. About 5 days post op I came to the ER for the same problems but I was too fresh to have it out then. And all of a sudden Monday the symptoms came back. So my surgeon took it out I found out they were taking it like an hour before I had surgery! At least I have some awesome nursing staff. A total of 11 sticks

I am an ER nurse. My Dr released me to return back work after 2 weeks with a promise to not lift push or pull as much as possible. Which I feel is easier in the ER than med/surg. I would have taken 6 weeks but my place of employment told me they couldn't give me the time off since it was an elective surgery. So back to work I go on Monday
