Surgery april 8...excited!
kazzygal replied to kazzygal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm feeling so much better now! Onto puréed and bandages are off. Scars look good. Went for hour walk today, broken into 3 lots. Having corn beef, veges and potato tonight. Although it's one portion serve, it will take about 6 sessions to eat it lol, but yum!! For all those nervous still or just out of surgery, one week and you will feel sooooo much better! Karynne -
when to start vitamins?
kazzygal replied to queenhelene's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to start when I'm on puréed diet. I had 2 days clear fluids in hospital then 7 days free liquid (currently on day 3 of this). I agree it's hard to get everything in as I can only do a little, but each day I get through more! I'm up to 1ltr water, 2 shakes and 1/2 cup soup now. -
Well done mistsj!!! You look and sound great! Good luck tomorrow goldngirl. See ya on the losers bench!

Thanks goldngirl. You will be fine. I'm feeling better tonight. Using my soup pro and recipes out of a book I bought through band buddies online. Great site and good value combos. Best book...Knife, Fork and Band. The bowl and plate has helped too. Nutrachew is rec by my dietician and on there in the combo too. Check it out if you haven't already.Try and relax a bit. It's not that bad if you follow all the rules. I can't believe it's almost 5 days now!! Heat packs are good too. Good luck and feel free to message me anytime -
Getting better slowly but had a little energy fail tonight. Trying too hard. Need sleep. Chin up

We are twins! Lol. I had surgery same day and feeling exactly the same. Congrats! I'm struggling with gas but walking and deep breathing helps.
-
Hi, I'm 3 days out and I think I'm getting that burning, full feel too. Funny after eating 1/4 cup soup! I try and sip all day. Today, I think I made it to 750mls plus a shake and soup. Struggled and had to walk a lot to move it. I've found cordial helps, and deep breathing but gas is still hanging around :/

Hi. I had op 8th April and feeling better by the day. First day/night was the worst for me but I made myself move which really helped. I had the barium swallow yesterday morning and it was fine though hard to do/swallow. I threw up a few times, especially drinking water/apple juice. Was better with soups or peppermint/camomile teas. Sometimes my vomit was bloody, but my brother (a nurse) explained it was normal after surgery. I'm doing my exercises like the physio said and following my dieticians recs. just do everything you should and you will be fine! Good luck golden girl! Well done on the weight loss everyone else! I haven't weighed myself yet as I just got home today.

Surgery april 8...excited!
kazzygal replied to kazzygal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey there fellow Aussie - wishing you a smooth op and speedy recovery today. Let us know how you go - GOOD LUCK! Thanks! I'm back home. Sore but getting better. Sip,sip, sip is best advice along with walk, walk, walk! Lots of gas in my chest which is uncomfortable but slowly moving. I was up walking Tuesday night. Had Soup today and got through about 1/4 cup. Hard going but yummy! Hard to keep waters up. I've had to eat siting up too, and drink. Too much gas and vomiting otherwise. Not on any pain meds now, just neurofen if needed. How are you feeling goldngirl6677? -

kazzygal replied to kazzygal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, Sunday arvo and I'm down to 105kgs, that's 6 lost since last week! Cool! Getting excited now. Go see physio and doctor tomorrow then hospital Tuesday morning. Mum cleaned out her cupboard and gave me her size 14 stuff as she is 12 now. Cool! I'm ready!! -
I'm having the sleeve Tuesday, Elizabeth. A friend of mine also had it 10 months ago and has lost 36kg (70lb). She told me yesterday that it was the best decision she ever made! They are very similar procedures. Good luck with yours. Read through heaps of these forums, so much great advice!

Thanks BigGirlPanties (love the name lol). I'll keep those drinks and food in mind. I too don't drink coffee and was a huge zero coke girl. One question, what do you drink when you go out? Just water? I'm fine with no alcohol but I wondered what I could drink anyway. -
Bio oil and vitamin E cream are great, affordable options. My friends who just had babies rave about bio oil. Good luck! I like the stabbing idea lol! I scar badly. I had a small, benign tumour cut out of my back and the scar it twice the size of the tumour! It looks like a bullet scar, so I tell people my partner shot me when it tried to leave! He's a darling btw lol

You look great! -
I'm sitting here at 5:30am and starting to feel apprehensive about my surgery in 3 days, and then I read your story. Thanks! Well done on your success and thanks for sharing your positive experience. I'm feeling calmer already!

Welcome! I'm on 8th too in Queensland. Getting excited! I think a piece of fish is okay...don't fret! Good luck...countdown on!!
-
That's good to know - thanks for sharing as I know they have different flavours too. I must check the Vitamin values though. So not long for you now - hope you are feeling as excited as I am, I just wish I could get it over and done with but alas I still have 6 days longer than you :-). Go hard on your pre op diet I've got 3 weeks down and two to go and have to say my espresso shot in my morning shake makes that first one of the day bearable. Look forward to reading about your journey. Thanks! Yep, countdown is on! Very excited and not doing too bad at pre-op. I'm weening myself off foods and should be total liquid by tomorrow. Well done with yours! Good practise for afterwards and should be easier by then. I love the mint choc in optislim. I'm drinking energize x2 too, rec by my dietitian. Don't think chuppa chupsare though...whoops! Getting serious now though. Shopping for high Protein foods to blend after for soft food stage. Will keep you posted...this time next week I should be done...gulp!

Hi all, This is a question I've asked and many have said optifast is better because of less sugar. I did a little research and these are the latest comparisons because optifast HAVE CHANGED SIZE. Before, they were lower, however, now these are the results. I will be using the opticslim I've already purchased before my op. My dietician also recommended energise drinks which are very high in sugar too...at least optislim is lower in fat! I'm also using benefibe in my water bottle once a day, can't taste it at all. Hope this helps. Optifast WAS better but not since it changed. Now it is on par. I am in Australia by the way! Of course, always check with your nut if you are concerned. Good luck everybody! My op is on April 8... Getting excited! Strawberry Strawberry

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?
kazzygal replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Maybe it's also to do with our metabolism. I know mine is shot now because of years of skipping meals and binging plus yo yo weight and exercise. After 2 years with a sleeve I'd guess that eating smaller, regular meals and exercising would mean your metabolism is speeding up. You are therefore burning more and need more food, hence hungry. Could also be related to muscle mass, as more muscle in the body requires more energy. The trick for me will be keeping clear of fast carbs when/if I fell this! I've also been thinking about the hair loss. It is definitely to do with undernourishment of course, but about 3 months after major surgery you should expect hair to fall out because of anaesthetic. Our hair goes into a kinda shock and snaps at the very root, it then takes about 3 months to reach the scalp surface where it falls out. There is already a new hair growing behind it. I was a hairdresser. -
Is it necessary to drink protein shakes?
kazzygal replied to Lisa00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I'm on the eighth too! Good luck! -
Haha! I'm in rockhampton but hoping to transfer to gladdy and be closer to partners work. Yes, not much around either area! I'm originally from noosa and having op in budge rim on April 8. Starting diet Monday. I bought optislim by mistake but I will change to optifast a week out. Anyone know the difference??

February/March 2014 sleevers
kazzygal replied to rebeccasams's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hope you stay chipper! Good luck with the leak test -
It's okay, I think everyone is scared of regaining. That's why these forums are good, we are in it together You are not alone. I just think the cost and the pain should stop me! Also, once you are smaller it's easier to keep it off as you have more energy and exercising is more fun...plus your wardrobe haha
